Referring multiple DataContract DLLs in one component

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi,

I am creating few WCF services. The number may be high. And we have used a pattern in each service to handle different targets. Now the issue is like each service is having 3 classes. And these three classes are similar in all sevrices with minor changes. These classes use corresponding data contracts in thier classes and the remaing logic is same. Now i am trying to reduce no of classes in each service. So I've added a class librray to solution and these classes are available in that library. And I am referring these library in each service. Since all services use this library, I am referring all data contracts in this newly created library.

My question is what is the impact of referring a dll(s) in class library. Is it ok to refer all dlls in one library and refer that library in each service? Earlier implementation is referring corresponding data contract dll in each service. Now all the data contracts are removed from services and moved to one library. Am I doing correct in terms of performance and maintainability?

Script Component - Change One Row Input to Multiple Row Output

Hi All I am new to SSIS, and looking for help. I do not know if it is possible, but I like to try using the "Script Component" to change a input like this:   1234 1235 1236 ...   to and output like this:   1234, Value1 1235, Value2 1235, Value3 1235, Value4 1236, Value5 ...   Depending of the input value, 1 or more Rows are pushed out the Output, Like the value 1234 -> result in 1 Row in the output, where the value 1235 -> result in 3 rows in the output. Is this possible to do in a Script Component?? If it is how do you program such behavior? Do some good sources to learn SSIS exist out there?? I think it is not easy to find information. Creating 64-bit interop dlls from an ActiveX component

Hi there,

I have generated a 64-bit version of an old ActiveX component. I now need to create the appropriate interop dlls to be able to use this component from some managed code. Here's what I've tried:

> tlbimp myDll.ocx /out:myDllInterop.dll /machine:x64

This generates the error:
TlbImp : error TI0000 : A single valid machine type compatible with the input type library must be specified

From this error, it appears that I might not have a 64-bit activeX component. But when I check it using DependencyWalker, it says it IS a 64-bit dll. Is it possible that the typelib info inside the ocx is only 32-bits. If so, how can I verify that? OleView doesn't give me enough info about the bit-ness of the tlb. And more importantly, how can I force a 64-bit typelib info to be embedded inside the ActiveX control?

I've also tried aximp, but it doesn't seem to have any option to specify a target machine type at all

Do I have to write my own tlbimp/aximp using the TypeLibConverter class? Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Thanks
Ahsan

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.

Multiple Column Dropdownlist for the ASP.NET DataGrid

Based on my previous control "Multiple Column DropDownList for ASP.NET", I received many emails asking for the same control to be used in the DataGrid for web applications. Here we go.. This control can be used as the regular MS DropDownList in the DataGrid and also as a regular dropdownlist. It has all the properties, like DataTextField, DataValueField, DataSource, SelectedIndex etc. The download file contains the samples both in VB.NET and C#. In this sample, I have used the Northwind database of SQL Server.

ASP.NET Multiple Selection DropDownList with AJAX HoverMenuExtender

Recently, I was looking for a multiple selection dropdownlist control for my new project. After spending some time researching for it, I decided to put together all my finding in one web user control. This web user control consists of an ASP.NET AJAX HoverMenuExtender, JavaScript, StyleSheet and CheckBoxListExCtrl . The final product will work with or without a MasterPage and you can drag and drop more than one instances of the control on to the page.

Multiple Instances of User Control

I have a user control that I place on a page severl times.  When I make a selection on a ddl in one one control the SelectedIndexChanged event fires for all the control on the page for that ddl.  So I get duplication of an insert that I do.  Is there a way to make sure these events are isolated so this doesn't happen.

Thanks,

>>>How to update multiple rows of gidview by one click

Hi,

I want to add multiple rows of a gridview if the data for multiple fields are same.

Idea for this is that a user may search a record with some parameter e.g. Sector, plot.

For example 15 records being displayed in gridview.

There should be checkbox before every row and if user wants to update Plot and Flat No that is same for 10 rows out of 15 so he will check the rows and update.

For this a dialog box should appear asking for the parameter i.e. Plot and Flat or something else next time may be it will be City or country. Moreover, there is already an Edit button to update records, when user click it another page open for the record to be updated and whatever he wants to update, it updates.

Hope everone understand the scenario.

I don't want to disturb the already provided Edit functionality and want to provide same record to be updated.

Any idea in this regard would be appreciated.

Multiple membership providers

Hello,

In my web.config I have:

   <membership>
      <providers>
        <add name="ADProvider1"
             attributeMapUsername="SAMAccountName"
             enableSearchMethods="true"
             type="System.Web.Security.ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider"
             connectionStringName="ActiveDirectoryConnection1"
             connectionUsername="Test1"
             connectionPassword="pw1"/>
        <add name="ADProvider2"
             attributeMapUsername="SAMAccountName"
             enableSearchMethods="true"
             type="System.Web.Security.ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider"
             connectionStringName="ActiveDirectoryConnection2"
             connectionUsername="Test2"
             connectionPassword="pw1"/>
      </providers>
    </membership>

If I just have ADProvider1 it works, when I add ADProvider2, even though for testing I only use ADProvider1 I get an error: "Unable to establish secure connection with the server"

Am I adding the second provider to the membership section incorrectly?

Thanks,

Mark

Error: Encountered multiple versions of the same assembly with GUID...try pre-importing...TlbImp

Hi!  Can someone tell me how I can troubleshoot the following error: "Encountered multiple versions of the same assembly with GUID...try pre-importing one of these assemblies".

The website developed in VS 2010 (.Net 3.5). This error is only received on my workstation.  Another person developing the site does not experience this issue at all.  Also, not sure if this matters, but on my workstation the 'Assembly Information...' dialog contains no values even though the 'AssemblyInfo.vb' file does specify values for the title, desc, etc.  The GUID being referenced in the error is the main project of the three projects within the solution.

I tried looking through the GAC, but do not see any references to the projects or DLLs in the VS solution and am not sure what else/where to look.

If I delete the copy of the solution on my local machine and pull down a copy from source control (AnkhSVN) the solution will build with no error.  Once I make any changes, such as adding a new aspx file, then the error is received.

I can provide any additional information needed.

one or multiple dbmls

I have two database connections that connect to two separate SQL severs.  The connection strings are stored in a separate ConnectionStrings.config file  I have the following in my Web.config

<configuration>

<connectionStrings configSource="ConnectionStrings.config" />

</configuration>

I use LINQ to SQL and a DBML file is created.  I finished dragging and dropping tables from the first db.  When switched to the second connection and try to drag and drop tables to the surface, I got a warning "The objects you are adding to the designer use a different data conneciton than the designer is currently using.  Do you want to replace the conneciton used by the designer?".  Should I add a second DML and drag and drop the tables from the second db so I don't get problems with multiple connections?  If say Person is a class in the first DBML and PersonPrivacyContent is on the second DMBL.  How could I associate these two classes?  If only one DBML is needed, how do I switch between two connections and execute LINQ queries in each db?  Thank you.
