How to get IP address of the client user?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I used following methods

All the above are returning "", not the actual IP.

The below one returns null.

Below one always returns where the application is hosted/running, not the client's IP address.
string strHostName = System.Net.Dns.GetHostName();
string clientIPAddress = System.Net.Dns.GetHostAddresses(strHostName).GetValue(0).ToString();

Please help...

C# - Creating web client for automating user activity on a HTTPS site

I've been wracking my brain for a couple of weeks on this.  I need to create a web client (I don't want to use the webBrowser control because I need this to be as lightweight as possible) to log in to a secure web site, and then effectively click links and fill in fields to get the data that would normally be displayed in the web browser.  I'm then going to parse the data and perform other actions with it. I have been working with HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse and many permutations of suggestions I have found while Googling my issue, but I can't get rid of my problem:  Sometimes when I effictively click the ultimate link that I need to click to get to my data, I get what I am looking for.  However, MOST of the timel, I get a response page that tells me my connection timed out and that I need to log in again.  I have tried messing with cookies and such, but to no avail. I know it's good form to post my code, but it is so sloppy and screwed up right now from tweaking this and trying that, that I'd rather not take the approach of fixing what's there, rather I'd like to start with solid, clean code to begin with. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, ALo

Is it possible to display the friendly name or email address of LiveID User Using Claims Authenticat

We have finally gotten LiveID authentication to work.  However when we specify a user to add to a sharepoint group, we need to do it via the unique id that live uses.   The user does login using their usual email address and password, but on the sharepoint side they see the PUID@live.com as the logged in user, and when we want to specify the user to have access to the a particular site or library, we have to do it by the same PUID@live.com.  This display makes it difficult to manager users on the sharepoint side.   Is there something I missed on setting up of the authentication provider, or is there something I can do to get sharepoint to retrieve the other information so that we can view the user through the email or full name that live provides?   Steve Paplanus

Can I use managed client OM to retrieve user profile?

I don't think managed client object model can be used to get user profile. I don't see anything similar to Microsoft.Office.Server.UserProfile namespace...

Can't add item using client object model of sharepoint 2010 with read only permission to user.

I have already developed Silverlight application in SharePoint 2010 using client object model.

But I have one scenario that user can comment on the item, so there is a update operation come in picture for user, but user have read only permission to site.

So please help me resolved this problem.

We can use Run with elevated privileges method in SP object model. I think Silverlight client object model don’t support this method.

Is there any alternative workaround to solve this problem?

How to retrieve client IP-address when using PollingDuplex ?

I already read lot of topics about the way to retrieve client IP when used tcp or http bindings. It works well.

But, I don't find any way to get the client IP address when using PollingDuplex...

Usually, the following code works (for http and tcp) :

  OperationContext   operationContext = OperationContext.Current;

Cannot read Silverlight client ip-address in service

I'm using the following code to read the ip address and port from a client that connects to my service:

            //Read IP-address and port
            MessageProperties messageProperties = OperationContext.Current.IncomingMessageProperties;
            RemoteEndpointMessageProperty endpointProperty = messageProperties[RemoteEndpointMessageProperty.Name] as RemoteEndpointMessageProperty;
            string ip = endpointProperty.Address;
            string port = endpointProperty.Port.ToString();

If I connect with a wpf client using netTcp binding I can read the proper ip adress and port number but if I connect with a SL4-client with the PollingDuplex the ip adress is empty and the port is 0. Why is that?

Thanks for help!

EDIT: I noticed that it works as supposed for Silverlight 3 so this seems to be SL4 specific.

Retrieve user email address from text box

I have an Technical Service Request InfoPath form and an email alert needs to be sent to two users each time that the form is completed and submitted to a library. An email alert needs to be sent to our technical manager which is a relatively easy workflow to set up in SharePoint Designer. The other user which needs to be alerted is the engineer which could be one of six people (we only have one technical manager).

The person completing the form will have to enter the name of the engineer to whom the alert should be sent to. I am struggling to send an email to this user. Is there a way to associate an email address with the name which is entered? We could use drop down lists and need to automate this in some way.

We dont need to retrieve full user information from AD but just need the email address of the user whose name is captured in a Text Box named 'Engineer'.

Any suggestions or assistance would be greatly appreciated,

Many Thanks

Problem with getting client's IP address in WCF service on IIS7

I have deployed a WCF duplex service on IIS7 that gets the client's IP address and based on that if the IP address repeats, the client is not given access to service. The problem is that when I deploy it on IIS7 and try to access it from another PC on LAN, it identifies the new PC having the same IP address as the one that the service is deployed in(just for testing purpose, I am returning the retrieved IP address to client), and So, I am not able to access the service from another PC.

Can anyone help me with this?

Sharepoint freezes when adding a user from Global Address

I'm having issues on one of our computers. I has WinXP with Office 2003, all service packs and updates are intalled, and IE7 is being used.

When I go to add a user into the Sharepoint and assigne access rights, the Microsoft Address Book comes up, I select the user and then when I click OK, nothing. The page just freezes until I manually cancel the process through task manager. Any suggestions at to what could cause this?
