Second domain in IIS to the same server

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 14, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi,

I have domainX and want to add a second domain to the same server, domainY. But I would like to change the url in the second domain like this:

DomainX:

http:\\dealerNewYork.webshop.com
http:\\dealerNewYotk.webshop.com\productList.aspx
http:\\dealerNewYotk.webshop.com\contact.aspx

http:\\dealerParis.webshop.com
http:\\dealerParis.webshop.com\productList.aspx
http:\\dealerParis.webshop.com\contact.aspx

http:\\dealerMadrid.webshop.com
http:\\dealerMadrid.webshop.com\productList.aspx
http:\\dealerMadrid.webshop.com\contact.aspx

DomainY:

https:\\www.webshopSecure.com\dealerNewYork
https:\\www.webshopSecure.com\dealerNewYork\productList.aspx
https:\\www.webshopSecure.com\dealerNewYork\contact.aspx

The reason why we would like to do this, is to use 1 certificate for the https url. When a user login on the webshop he redirect to a https url.

Cannot create user: server cannot determine if it is member of a domain

Hi, An instance of our 2008 SP1 SQL Server is running on a computer that was removed from it's domain and then re-added. Now, when I want to create a new login in Management Studio via the nodes Security/Logins, selecting "New Login", entering DOMAIN_NAME\USER_NAME as login name and then click "Search", I get an error message (in German) "Das Programm kann das erforderliche Dialogfeld nicht öffnen, da nicht ermittelt werden kann, ob Computer "COMPUTER_NAME" einer Domäne zugeordnet ist. Schließen Sie dieses Dialogfeld, und wiederholen Sie den Vorgang". Translation: "The program cannot open the required dialog, as it cannot be determined if computer "COMPUTER_NAME" is assigned to a domain. Close this dialog, and repeat the process." But closing the dialog and repeating as suggested does not help. Even restarting the SQL Server service and re-connecting in Management Studio did not help. I keep getting this message. I found, however, that just entering the domain and user name and then clicking Ok seems to add the user. Anyway, it is irritating to get this error message when clicking "Search". How can I tell the engine that the computer is really member of the domain again? Frank

Same server farm administrator domain account for both Intranet and Internet Sharepoint site?

Hello,   We are planning to setup 2 streams of architecture for both Intranet and Internet web sites. Just wondering whether there is any best practices/security concerns if we are using the same domain account as the Server Farm Administrator for both Intranet and Internet platform?   Thanks,

Error during installation of SQL Server 2005 when typing the domain account

I am installing SQL Server 2005 on a server (Windows Server Enterprise Edition 2003 SP2) that is not domain controller and on the screen "Service Account" I checked the box "Customize for each service account" and typed a domain account (it has permission to "logon as a service"), its password and domain, and when I click the "Next" button, I am getting the error below:

"SQL Server Setup could not validate the service accounts. Either the service accounts have not been provided for all of the services being installed, or the specified username or password is incorrect. For each service, specify a valid username, password, and domain, or specify a built-in system account. "

What's happening? Why is this error occurring? What I have to do for this error does not occur?

Thanks for any help me to solve this problem

(Note : Excuse me because my English isn't very good !)

Moving SharePoint Database to non trusted domain SQL server

Hi,

We have SharePoint and SQL server in a extranet domain. We would like move the SQL server databases for SharePoint to our corporate SQL server (on the corporate domain).

The Corporate domain does not trust the extranet domain, and thus the web farm account cannnot be specified on the corportare SQL instance. If it possible to migrate the databases to a non tusted domain?

I've seen the script to create a new Config database using SQL authentication

psconfig -cmd configdb -create -server <SQL server name> -database <database name> -dbuser <SQL account> -dbpassword <SQL password> -user <AD user account> -password <AD user password>

Can I edit the config of SharePoint to point to the new SQL server, or do I need to create the entire sharepoint enviromnent again and attach the content databases?

I also have a SSP database that's heavily customised for searcvhing and the BDC. Will this need recreating again or can I move the BDC database  to the new server and attach?

Thanks,

Sharepoint Search Server Express 2008 can not index external domain fileshare with valid account

Since i have understood that sharepoint 2008 search express doesn't do any security trimming i am trying to index an external fileshare (on a non trusted domain) with it. After authenticating with the external domain account I can manually access all the files in that share i need to. Sharepoint 2008 search express somehow is unable to use the crawl rule in which i specified a different content access account (which is the external domain account). It continuously gives the error "Access is denied. Check that the Default Content Access Account has access to this content, or add a crawl rule to crawl this content."

Exactly the same configuration works fine with sharepoint search server 2010, but that does do security trimming and because of the share being completely external my users could't see any search results.

Any suggestions?

SQL Server: Login failed for user: '\$'

Hello,

I hate to be the 12345th person to request assistance on this topic, but despite looking at previous requests, I can't seem to find the solution. Any assistance you could offer would be much appreciated.

Background

I have a new ASP.NET 2.0 web application which is hosted on (for argument's sake) WEBSERVER (using IIS 6.0), and which accesses data on SQLSERVER (using SQL Server 2000).

Because this is an intranet application, I want the application's authentication mode to be Windows, and the IIS authentication mode to be Integrated Windows (with Anonymous access disabled). ie: IIS should authenticate the user as smithjohn and SQLSERVER should also authenticate the user as smithjohn.

I don't know if this is relevant, but because of an existing nasty Windows application, all relevant domain users already have their own <DOMAIN>\<username> User account on SQLSERVER.

Error

When I build and browse the pages in Visual Web Developer Express, I can retrieve information from SQLSERVER without any problems.

When I publish the site, and upload it to WEBSERVER, I get the following error upon attempting to retrieve data from a stored procedure on SQLSERVER:

System.Data.SqlClient.SqlE

Content Deployment From One domain server to another Domain Server

Hi,

I am trying to deploy the content from one server to another server(Both servers are in different domains).

Is it possible to do it with MOSS 2007 Out-Of-The-Box functionality(Content Deployment).

Is yes, Kindly explain the steps to be done.

When i tried to deploy content while running the job, "Content deployment job 'Remote import job for job with sourceID = b29a2099-8741-409e-89d2-8b8e95abe833' failed. The exception thrown was 'System.IO.IOException' : 'The process cannot access the file 'Manifest.xml' because it is being used by another process.'". This error occurs when i tries to deploy the contents from 32-Bit server to 64-Bit Server(Both are in different domains).

Kindly provide your suggestion.

Thanks in Advance,

Vinoth.K

MOSS 2010 Web Front End Server (off the domain) and SQL Authentication

Hi Guys,

I am trying to use SQL authentication on my moss portal server (to be my web front end) and I am unable to connect.

When I run:

PSConfig -cmd -configdb
-create
-server servername\sqlinstance
-database SharePoint_Config
-admincontentdatabase SharePoint_AdminContent database name
-user domain\SPExternalAdmin
-password password
-dbuser SPExternalUser
-dbpassword password

it tells me that the username is invalid.  the account must be a valid domain account.

am I able to use a domain account for this (keep in mind the moss server is not on the domain)

I can run the scrip differently (see below)

PSConfig -cmd -configdb
-create
-server servername\sqlinstance
-database SharePoint_Config
-admincontentdatabase SharePoint_AdminContent database name
-user local admin
-password password
-dbuser SPExternalUser
-dbpassword

Domain groups in Cluster Security policy during install of SQL Server 2008

I am trying to install SQL Server 2008 on Windows server 2003 and have a question about the stage of 'Cluster Security Policy'.

We need to select 2 groups here, one for SQL server database domain group and the other for SQL server agent domain admin group.

My question is, is it different from service accounts that we used to specify in previous versions? I remember the wizard asking for service account that the sql services need to run under. Is this domain group part a replacement for those individual service accounts? If yes, do I need to have the service account added to a separate group and select that group in this part of 'Cluster security policy'?

Thanks

FAST Search Server 2010 Config Error - ValidationException 1034: Username or domain is incorrect.

Hi,

I've seen other related threads and I've tried all the tricks in getting through the post-setup configuration, but I can't get by the "ValidationException 1034: Username or domain is incorrect." error message taken from the FAST psconfig log. I've tried both the wizard and the psconfig, but get the same results. I'm attempting to deploy the single server (stand-alone) on a single x64 box, under ws2008 SP2, w/SP2010, the server is also the domain controller, and i've been passing the FQDN to the post-setup script as described in the FAST deployment document (see log below):

Cannot connect to SQL Server 2008 R2 installed on Win Server 2008 R2 in domain controlled by Win SBS

I have 2 SQL Server 2008 R2 instances installed on a new server running Win Server 2008 R2 in a Windows SBS 2008 domain.

The instances are configured to allow remote connection. The users are authorized in the SQL root security. The users are authorized for the computer and both SQL instances. Shared folders on the computer are visible remotely.

When I attempt to connect to either instance either programmatically, or using SQL Server Management Studio, the attempt fails with a Server not found ... error. I cannot see either instance.

I opened port 1434 in the firewall but that only made things worse.

I have not experienced this error before in SQL Servers 2000 or 2005.

Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thanks.

Murray
