Excel file not showing in search results

We have a strange issue. I have one Excel document (or at least one that I am aware of) that will not show up in search results for content within the document. I can find the document by title just fine, but when I search for words within the document I do not see it. The document was originally a 2003 Excel document and was recently converted to 2007. Other than that there isn't really anything unusual about it (some formatting stuff, but mainly just background colors and whatnot, nothing fancy). The crawl log shows the document was crawled without error. Anyone know anything else I can check on?

Hello everybody!!! But I have the following prob

Search by file Name in advanced search does not return any results

Search Results from File Shares - Respect Permissions?????

I'm curious: If I have SP 2010 Enterprise and I've set it up to crawl and return search results from documents on a file share, will it respect the access permissions that the logged-in user doing the searching has?

I know I have to allow read-only access for the content manager account within SP, but I did not know if it would check access permissions of the user account when returning results.

Strange Flat File results

OK, I am not even sure I can explain this let alone know what is going on.

SQL 2008 enterprise, 64 bit.

We have a stored procedure (no changes between working and not working).

Running this against the same server file folder, same security credentials, from the BI tool, is just fine. When run from a SQL server job, results as below.

SSIS job basically execs this stored procedure, which just selects and formats the data.

The SSIS package creates a CSV file on a Win. Server.

All of a sudden (I know there is no all of a sudden) it creates this CSV file as such:

Instead of as such:

I've tried a number of things, and like I said it works on my PC within the VS.

Ideas on either fixing it or troubleshooting it?

SSIS text qualifier results in text file containing "_x003C_none_x003E"

There is a bug in SSIS when exporting data from SQL to a comma delimited text file where you specified no text qualifier.

This bug apparently only occurs when you develop the SSIS on a x64 win7 PC and copy the .dtsx file (windows explorer copy/paste) to network path of a x86 SQL server and schedule the job to run from SQL Agent on the same x86 SQL server.

When the SSIS runs, the text file is written out containing text qualifier = "“_x003C_none_x003E".

If you look at " _x003C_none_x003E", it actually means <none>.  x003C = "<" and x003E = ">".

If you go into the SSIS package, double-click in the connection manager section to open the flat file connection manager editor and try to clear the text qualifier removing the <none>, the <none> value get added back in.

Clicking on "new" in a KPI list results in an error page "File Not Found".

KPI lists on other sites within sharepoint work fine, but any KPI list on this particular site will result with a file not found page when you try to create a new KPI. It happens with any of the 4 "new" choices (sharepoint list, excel workbook, sql, or manually entered data).

Any thoughts on what is causing this or how to fix it?

Download http request results to memory instead of file?

I have a requirement to download a gazilion finance related files from serveral http sites and load to SQL Server.  I was able to use the script task and leverage the webclient object to download the requested data to files; no sweat.  Then in a file task I read in the file into the process flow (w/in the data flow) and the rest is history.  Is there a way I could bypass the "downloading to a file and re-reading it in step"?  I'd like to simply stream the request using webclient.DownloadData().  My question is how do I get the resulting bytearray into the process/data flow so that I can transform/load where ever I like?

I'm also interested in if this will help with performance.  I'm thinking is should but will this turn into a memory hog then and slow things down.  Also, If I have to use the download and read the file approach, I'm concerned about babysitting the temp file downloads.  Would I need to continuously clean up after myself for every download?

Thanks in advance,

How to configure the file results of a query to custom delimiter

Hi all,

I use to do it is MS-SQL Analyzer to SQL 2000, but now with new MS SQL 2008 Management Studio I don't know how.

In the Tools->Options->Query Results to a file there isn't a option to custom delimiter... that I can see...

Any help would be apreciated.

When I save query results to a csv file I get spurious characters at start of file

If I edit a csv file created from a query result there are three spurious characters at the start of the file.

If I save the file using ansi encoding (clicking on the down arrow next to save button and selecting ansi) the characters do not appear, which is what I want.

Is there any way to default to ansi encoding when saving query results to a csv file?

Export query results to CSV file changing the delimiter to something other than comma

After running a query I can right click on the results grid and choose "Save Results As..." and choose the format as "CSV (Comma delimited)".

My issue is that the text includes commas and when I import to Excel there are extra columns.

Is there a way to select the character to delimit the exported text when saving to a file?

File Splitter in .Net

I love to do utility programs in .Net. And this is one of them. As I was playing with JSplit (a free file splitter program), I wondered if I could do it in .Net. The framework supports file operations like reading files in bytes and creating them. It is indeed easy to do file operations in .Net Basics on File operations

Upload Multiple File using JQuery in asp.net

Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.

SmtpClient and Locked File Attachments

Got a note a couple of days ago from a client using one of my generic routines that wraps SmtpClient. Apparently whenever a file has been attached to a message and emailed with SmtpClient the file remains locked after the message has been sent. Oddly this particular issue hasn't cropped up before for me although these routines are in use in a number of applications I've built.
