What happened to the backup and restore classes in namespace Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo vers

I do not see these two classes in version 10 of this namespace and I am not finding any documentation explaining what happened to them.

Sesame: Microsoft Dallas support

With the release of Microsoft Codename "Dallas" CTP3 and the features announced in the previous post, it became easier to add support for Dallas to Sesame Data Browser.The new version of Sesame published today allows you to browse Dallas datasets, as demonstrated below. Creating a connection to a Dallas dataset in Sesame is easy. You just need a dataset URL and an account key. The Dallas portal In order to get an account key and URLs, you need to visit https://www.sqlazureservices.com and sign in with a Windows Live ID. You'll then be able to subscribe to datasets, such as AP Online (Associated Press) or business information from InfoGroup: Note: Only CTP3 services are supported in Sesame. Once you have a subscription, you can visit its preview page. This is where you'll find the URL you'll use in Sesame.Here is for example the page for AP Online: The URL for AP Online is highlighted in blue on the above picture.Your account key is available on the "Account keys" page: Dallas in SesameNow that you have an account key and a URL, you can create an OData connection in Sesame:Here is the result for AP Online if you click on GetBreakingNewsCategories:Copy a category ID and click on GetBreakingNewsContentByCategory.Paste the category ID in categoryId and type 5 for count:After clicking on Open, you'll get data in a grid, as usual:You can also locate the news items on a map:Kno

Forefront Identity Management Service does not support workflows of type 'Microsoft.ResourceManagem

I have a client that has a Named instance of SQL Server 2008 R2, as this can cause issues with the User Profile Service I have deployed the June 2010 CU to this SharePoint Farm. Farm consists of 1 WFE, 1 App and a SQL 2008 R2 cluster. While applying the June I also went ahead and deployed the August 2010 CU. This is a new environment and is still in the design phase.

Well on to the problem.

After these CU's were added we were able to configure the Profile import and everything is importing as expected.

But now the Event logs (Windows Application) are throwing a Forefront Identity Manager Event ID 3, every min, these are coming in groups of 2 with the same ID but slightly different messages.

Message 1:

Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Workflow.Hosting.WorkflowManagerException: Forefront Identity Management Service does not support workflows of type 'Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Workflow.Activities.SequentialWorkflow, Microsoft.ResourceManagement, Version=4.0.2450.9, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'.

Message 2:

Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Service: Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Workflow.Hosting.WorkflowManagerException: Forefront Identity Management Service does not support workflows of type 'Microsoft.ResourceManagement.Workflow.Activities.SequentialWorkflow, Microsoft.ResourceManagement, Version=4.0.

Microsoft Ajax Minifier "family" - which one to use?

 I would appreciate if someone could shed a light on Microsoft Ajax Minifier "family". I found THREE versions on Codelex:

1. Microsoft Ajax Minifier 1.1 http://aspnet.codeplex.com/releases/view/35893 (Released: Nov 14 2009; Downloads: 7448)

2. Microsoft Ajax Minifier 4.0 http://aspnet.codeplex.com/releases/view/40584 (Released: Feb 16 2010; Downloads: 43854)

3. Microsoft Ajax Minifier (no version) http://ajaxmin.codeplex.com/releases/view/50809 (Released: Aug 18 2010; Downloads: 18)

The main quesiton

Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object doesn't support this property or method

When I am updating dropdown of parent window from popup it shows error JScript runtime error. But I can able to clear the dropdown. When I am adding only the problem is occuring. I have pasted the code below

var ddlVendor = window.opener.aspnetForm.document.getElementById('ctl00_DefaultContent_ddlVendor');

//Clears the state combo box contents.

for (var count = ddlVendor.options.length-1; count >-1; count--)

ddlVendor.options[count] =

var stateNodes = listNode.getElementsByTagName('Table1/UserName');

var stateIds = listNode.getElementsByTagName('Table1/Password');

ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript Snippet Support (VS 2010 and .NET 4.0 Series)

This post covers another useful improvement in VS 2010 - HTML/ASP.NET/JavaScript snippet support. Snippets allow you to be more productive within source view by allowing you to create chunks of code and markup that you can quickly apply and use in your application with a minimum of character typing.

Visual Studio has supported the concept of "snippets" for VB and C# in previous releases - but not for HTML, ASP.NET markup and JavaScript. With VS 2010 we now support snippets for these content types as well.

Microsoft AJAX CDN

Content delivery networks (CDNs) are composed of "edge cache" servers that are strategically placed around the world at key Internet network points. These "edge cache" servers can be used to cache and deliver all types of content - including images, videos, CSS and JavaScript files.

Using a CDN can significantly improve a website's end-user performance, since it enables browsers to more quickly retrieve and download content. For example, instead of having a browser request for an image traverse all the way across the Internet to your web server to download, a CDN can instead serve the request directly from a nearby "edge cache" server that might only be a single network hop away from your customer (making it return much faster - which makes your pages load quicker).

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.

Microsoft's Collaborative Application Markup Language (CAML) Loop

discovered an interesting error recently while working with Microsoft's Collaborative Application Markup Language (CAML) that, surprisingly, had received no ink. Partly what surprises me about this is that the error may require you to rewrite large sections of your code if you haven't previously considered this SharePoint limitation. I'll start with some context, but first of all the error is:

CLR Integration With Microsoft SQL Server

Transact-SQL provides as much flexibility as possible but, because it is not a real programming language, it has some shortcomings about many issues (memory management, exception handling, debugging, file processing (or streaming), object-orientation (classes), or thread management). Transact-SQL also lacks features of normal libraries (arrays, collections, serialization, expressions, or string manipulations, etc).

MVC architecture in ASP.Net using C# and Microsoft Data Access Application block

The Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern separates the modeling of the domain, the presentation, and the actions based on user input into three separate classes [Burbeck92]:

Model. The model manages the behavior and data of the application domain, responds to requests for information about its state (usually from the view), and responds to instructions to change state (usually from the controller).

View. The view manages the display of information.

Controller. The controller interprets the mouse and keyboard inputs from the user, informing the model and/or the view to change as appropriate.

Building Layered Web Applications with Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 - Part 1

"Building Layered Web Applications" that shows you how to build N-Layer applications with Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0. These articles teach you how to design, build and use custom business objects in your web application. The target audience for this series are developers that are ready to make the switch from using SqlDataSource controls to ObjectDataSource controls with custom business objects. Experience with ASP.NET 2 and C# is necessary while some knowledge about object oriented design certainly helps. The design I am going to show you in these articles is a simplified version of a design you would use in a real world application. It doesn't feature all the necessary functionality your application needs, but instead focuses on the underlying concepts.

.NET 3.5 Adds Named Pipes Support

you want a named pipe server, all you have to do is create some instances of NamedPipeServerStream to handle each client connection. I stole the following code straight from the MSDN documentation.

Learning C# and OOP, Classes

This is the second lesson in a miniseries designed to teach you how to write object-oriented programs using C#. This miniseries will describe and discuss the necessary and significant aspects of object-oriented programming (OOP) using C#.

Microsoft StyleCop: Source Code Analyzer for C#

StyleCop is similar in many ways to Microsoft Code Analysis (specifically FxCop), but there are some important distinctions. FxCop performs its analysis on compiled binaries, while StyleCop analyzes the source code directly. For this reason, FxCop focuses more on the design of the code, while StyleCop focuses on layout, readability and documentation. Most of that information is stripped away during the compilation process, and thus cannot be analyzed by FxCop.
