How do I make it so when I user pressing return, it goes to the next line in a textbox?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF
I've got a textbox control on a WPF 4.0 app I've written.  This control allows for multiple lines, and that works fine.  However, my users like to be able to type something, hit the enter/return key which they're used to having it go to the next line in the textbox, where they then continue typing whatever it is they want to type.  Well, it's not doing that.  How do I make it do that?

Need Syntax To Make Results of LINQ Union Return Non-Generic Type

I have the below SQL which works just fine:

SELECT     Message, CreateDate, AccountId, AlertTypeId
FROM       dbo.Alerts
SELECT     TOP (100) PERCENT Status, CreateDate, AccountId,
(SELECT     10 AS Expr1) AS AlertTypeId
FROM         dbo.StatusUpdates
WHERE AccountId = PassedInParameter

I have been going about trying to convert the above into a LINQ method and am having problems with return types.
As the above SQL illustrates, I am querying two distinct LINQ tables - Alerts and StatusUpdates -
and then attempting to perform a Union on them. In order to do the union in LINQ, I have to have agreeing types. So, I
am using "var" to make the results of "alerts" and "updates" generic before the union.

public IList GetStatusUpdatesAsAlertsByAccountId<T>(Int32 accountId)

How to make "UserId" equal to the "logged-in user" in vb code behind

I need to insert a declaration in the codebehind function below that will make the variable "UserId" equal to the "logged-in user". In what way do I need to change the code below (elsewhere in the project, I successfully make reference to basically the same code and make the UserId equal to logged-in user by using this handler expression inside an image control: ImageUrl ='<%# Eval("UserId","Image.aspx?UserId={0}")%>'...But in the case below, the function is not fired by this expression, but rather by CustomValidator). Thanks very much.

Sub ValidateImage(ByVal source As Object, ByVal args As System.Web.UI.WebControls.ServerValidateEventArgs)

Is textbox the only control with a multi-line option?

I was trying to use a label control to print out a string with spaces and line feeds, but with no success. Textbox is the only control I have found so far that will print my line feeds (ControlChars.Lf)  However, can I remove the scrollbar from the textbox display that appears when textboxmode is set to multiline? -smc

Reading MultiLine TextBox line by line

If I have a list of something in a MultiLine TextBox, one item per line, how do I then in turn read this? Right now TextBox.Text reads it all as one line. Lets say we have this: TextBox txtbx; At first I thought I could split the string on Environment.Newline, this doesn't work.  Error.Next I thought I could Replace(Environment.Newline,";").Split(";"); This didn't work either, Error.  Both gave cannot convert string to char[] exceptions. What I want to be able to do is read the input line by line and do something with each item one by one. Does anyone know how to do this? Thanks.

Infact I don't know what to do, as I have spent many hours trying to login, but no success. Below is my office website:   http://www.lantec-uk.net/SignIn.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fdefault.aspx When I enter my credentials and click login, the web page gets refreshed, i.e username and password get erased, rather than taking me into my web-portal. The laptop is having windows 7 home premium, with ie8. I have also tried installing firefox, chrome, opera and safari, but same problem. Somebody please help, as sony has refused to take the laptop back and they are saying that there is problem with website. Similarly, website staff are saying that there is a problem with the laptop and not with the website.   Any help highly appreciated.

GridView crashes when user enters html open "<" or close ">" characters in a textbox

My GridView is bound to a sql data source and allows editing of fields. Coding is in C# and JavaScript. Using Visual Studio 2008 in test mode, if I enter a less-than "<" or greater-than ">" character in a GridView textbox an error is immediately thrown upon pressing enter: "Microsoft Visual StudioMirosoft JScript runtime error:Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: An unknown erroroccurred while processing the request on the server. The status dode returnedfrom the server was: 500"When the < or > is entered in production, the page aborts and loads the application start page. I need to be able to catch and replace those characters BEFORE the error is thrown. I've tried hooking OnTextChange code to the textboxes, but the error is thrown as soon as I press enter...the OnTextChange code never runs. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How to make sure that user doesn't open same webpage in two different browsers or browser tabs?

We are using asp.net StateServer for asp.net session management. In our project we need to make sure that if a user is already logged in and if he is trying to acess the website from a different browser tab, we need to inform him that he is already logged in in another tab and use it instead of opening a new session. Consider the following scenarios:

1. User is logged on in tab1 and his session is still on, then user tries to logon from another tab, the browser sends the asp.net session_id cookie, In the page init i am checking if the Asp.net session Id cookie is present, if it is there i am checking if the it is a new Session (i.e. if the existing session timed out), if it is a new session then proceed with the user action else it means that the session in tab1 is still active so i am redirecting user to error page with appropriate message.

Now the problem with this approach is that, suppose session in tab1 is expired and user opens tab2 and performs some actions, now he goes back to tab1 and perform any action, i directly need to take him to log out page.

Please let me know how this can be achieved.
