Cannot install Sharepoint Server 2010 "A previous installation has been detected with a license type

I'm trying to upgrade to Team Foundation Server 2010 and Project Server 2010. After getting TFS 2010 and Project Server 2007 to work with WSS 3.0, I started upgrade to Project Server 2010 which requires update to Sharepoint Server 2010 Enterprise. I installed pre-requisites and run "stsadm -o preupgradecheck" which passed everything. When I tried to run the installation I get Setup Warning "A previous installation has been detected with a license type that does not match the install in progress". I thought that my trial licence for Project Server 2007 stopped this so I completely uninstalled WSS 3.0 and restarted the server but the installation still stops with Upgrade window. Any ideas? Install SharePoint Server Language Packs.

Hi, can someone confirm if you need to install the SharePoint Foundation Language Pack in addition to the SharePoint Server Language Pack? In other words, does the Server Language Pack include the Foundation Language Pack? Thanks in advance, Dirk Van den Berghe

Deploy reusable Workflow on SharePoint Farm with other language pack

Hi all, I created a reusable workflow on my development system with no language pack installed. I saved the workflow as a template and saved the generated wsp. After that I added the wsp to a SharePoint farm at out customer (with the dutch language pack installed) and deployed the wps. Everything was looking good, but the WSP didn't creae a feature which I could activate, so I was not able to use the Workflow. Should it be possible to create a reusable workflow on a system with no langualge pack installed and install it on another system with a language pack installed? Johan.

SP2010 Configuration Error: MicroSoft.SharePoint.SPException Language Not Supported

I am facing "MicroSoft.SharePoint.SPException: Language not supported" error while configuring through SP Products configuration wizard. The solution suggested to this issue in different forums is to add 1033 entry in the registry. For me it already exists. Even then, it generated the error. Any suggestions?

How to implement a regional language font on sharepoint (WSS 3.0)?

I am looking to implement on sharepoint WSS 3.0 a regional language font, that will give the user an option to communicate in their own language without effecting the work of other user, i am thinking something on the line of google transliteration, if you have the solution for the same then would really appreciate it.

Thank You

Search: How to add a new language to languages detected by crawler?

Dear all,

I think my question is not so well formulated, so let me explain:

In the advanced search web part, it possible to add a filter on the language of the results. By default the list of language proposed to end-users is English, French, German and some others.

When editing the properties of that web part, it is possible to modify that list to propose different languages (in "Languages" element of the xml). BUT you can only choose from the languages previously defined ("LangDefs" element).

What I would like to do is to add/install a new language definition, because the language I am interested in is not listed under "LangDefs".

Obviously, just editing the XML won't do the trick.

From what I understood, language of documents in automatically detected by IFilter when crawling documents.

So, do I need a new IFilter for my specific language?

I justed installed the language pack for SharePoint, so maybe it also includes the new IFilter?

And when correct crawler is installed, where do I find the LangDef information (including custom id for the language, that is not standard language id)?

I hope someone here is able to help me.

Many thanks in advance!

My change doesn't have any effect on my sharepoint? (language)

what should I do?

I am using window 2008 and SharePoint 2010

Installing Sharepoint 2010 Language Packs on Windows 7

I wanted to install language packs on top of Sharepoint 2010 already installed on my Windows 7 laptop but couldnt do so. Looks like its not supported. I checked some forums/blogs and some suggested to extract the language packs and add the AllowWindowsClientInstall line in the config xml but that also didnt work. I checked technet download links and it clearly says that the language packs applies to only Windows Server 2008 (Win2K8) or Win2K8 R2.

Any workarounds or separate download links from microsoft on this?

Alert is using a language other English to display the alert's title (SharePoint 2010)

I have a SharePoint 2010 portal, and it seems as though some people receive alert's with a language other than English for the alert's title.

You have successfully created an alert for '???????'

Can someone help me understand how that would happen? Is that a configuration on the SharePoint side? Configuration on each site? Configuration in Outlook?

Thanks in advance.

Language settings messed up in SharePoint 2010

In the last couple of days I've tried to refactor my code to be able to support multiple languages. Somehow I messed up my solution and still can't figure out the reason since the problem now appears seperately from my solution. Ok without anymore excuses here we go:

I've got an english SP2010 Server with a german language pack installed. If I create a new blank sitecollection (STS#1) with default language german (language code 1031) and open the url in my browser everything shows up in english (language code 1033). However if I navigate to "Libraries" afterwards everything switches back to german. So I only got english language on the RootWeb of my sitecoleection (at a point where I've only created a blank sitecollection without deploying any piece of code at all).

At Site settings -> language settings german is set to be the default language and english is not activated at all. I can't tell when this behaviour started, but if I would have to guess, I would say it started when I tried to activate alternate languages by code.

How to let the user switch between English and Arabic language SharePoint sites?

I have installed MOSS 2007 Arabic Language Pack and now have SharePoint 2007 sites in both English and Arabic languages.

I have a custom UserControl in my MasterPage which is a dropdown box having the options:English and Arabic.

I want the user to select the language of his/her choice and depending on the choice, the site will be displayed in the selected language.

I have created a custom team site definition using the SharePoint 2007 WSPBuilder Project template which has custom document libraries, lists, web parts, features, usercontrols, workflows, etc.
I am deploying this WSP using STSADM commands on the WFE server.

I want to have this site language switching functionality in this custom team site definition.
The same thing which is found in the Microsoft SharePoint 2010 site at: http://sharepoint.microsoft.com/en-us/Pages/default.aspx

My current custom team site definition(WSP) uses the default English Resource file(core.en-US.resx).
How can I use the Arabic language Resource file(core.ar-SA.resx) in the same WSP Solution?

Also, suppose I create a custom publishing site definition(WSP),then I want that if the content publisher/owner/administrator publishes the content in the English language site, then the same thing must be reflected in the Arabic language site as well.

That is,any content ch

Sharepoint: Health Analyzer has detected some critical issues that require attention "Severity 1"

Sharepoint: Health Analyzer has detected some critical issues that require attention, doesn't allow

I have been struggling with this issue for many days, if anyone can help me resolve it, it would be so appreciated. I am currently running SharePoint 2010 Foundation on Windows Server 2008 R2.

I had set-up a SharePoint foundation Extranet web portal on a single server configuration (one computer) and it was functioning just fine. I moved the server to another physical location to demo it, I connected it the same way I do at my home but at this location it was on a  different internet service provider. As soon as I connected the server thru the Ethernet port to to cable modem box I immediately got a "Health Analyzer error" in the SharePoint Central Administration Window and all my ports (port 80 and 8080) were blocked.

I returned back to my home and reconnected the server computer to my home modem in the same exact way I did before (when it was functioning) and the "Health Analyzer error" in the SharePoint Central Administration Window still is displayed and all the Extranet/internet ports (port 80 and 8080) are still blocked.

I checked on the server using the "IIS manager" and the sharepoint site still functions fine on the server. Problem is I cant access it anymore from the Extranet/internet due to the ports being blocked now.
