Filtering DVWP using a url parameter

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi everyone,

I've created a DVWP and put a URL filtering using ParameterBinding:

  <ParameterBinding Name="Type" Location="Postback;Connection;QueryString(Type)" Default=""/>

The column on the subject is a choice type with 10 selections (example: apple, orange, pear,...). If I send a url MyDVWP.aspx?Type=apple, I get only apple rows. When "MyDVWP.aspx?Type=pear", I get only pear rows. My question is how can I make my DVWP to show all items?..

I guess I could make a URL parameters for each selection.. like one for apple, one for orange.  But that will be 10 URL parameters and doesn't sound like a good solution..

Can anyone come up with a better solution??..

Filtering a Report Depending on the Value of a Parameter

SQL Reporting Services 2008

I have a parameter called 'activitytype' which can have a value of 'desktop', 'visit' or 'both'. If the user selects 'desktop' or 'visit' then I will filter on the field called 'activity' in my query equals the parameter called 'activitytype' which I can do fine. However if the user selects 'both', then i want it to filter on 'activity' = 'visit' OR 'activity' = 'desktop'. I can't see how to add this to the where clause in my query, and i don't want to have to create a stored procedure for evey report i write as most of the parameters we use are similar to this.

If I was doing this in a stored procedure I would just create a string variable and add the select statement with the correct where clause to it and then do an EXEC on it, but I can't seem to do that in the query in reporting services.

Is there a way to do this filter in SQL Reporting Services itself?

DVWP Filtering limit??

Can anyone comment on how many filtering arguments can a dvwp in SharePoint Designer handle?  It appears through our development process that 10 or 11 is the limit.  Supposedly you can edit the query using CAML but I am unsure as to where to locate the CAML code to do this.

ANy comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

DFWP query string parameter breaks column header filtering?

We have created a page (using SPD) which accepts a query string parameter to set the data filter for the DFWP. The data is displayed with a basic table layout and "sorting and filtering on column headers" is enabled. But it appears that only the sorting works. When a user clicks on the drop-down for a column header, "Ascending", "Descending", and "Loading..." is displayed. After a few seconds, "Loading..." changes to "Clear Filter" (disabled) but there is no distinct list of values to select as a filter. If we remove the query string parameter from the underlying DFWP query, it works fine. Has anyone else noticed this behavior and/or have a solution?

Use a column as parameter for a sds in another column; gridview

Hola, I have a gridview which is bound to a sds which returns 7 columns and I added two columns from the GUI.  What I want is to fill up the 9th column with DDLs and these  DDLS will get their data from a different sds which is using a stored procedure with a single parameter.  I created the 9th row, used template field, made the sds for 9th row, the stored_procedure, threw a DDL in Item template and all  I need now is to pass a parameter in the first column to the sds in the 9th column.  I can code this but i'm getting tired of aspx.cs :) and would like to do it from the GUI.

Sort by gridview SortExpression parameter via Stored Procedure

I have a gridview that calls data via a stored procedure.  I am unable to enable the gridview columns to be sortable. I need to set the parameter in the Stored Procedure, can someone help me with this?

Here is my gridview:

<asp:GridView ID="AllUsersGrid" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="UserName"
                        GridLines="Vertical" Width="900px" DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" AllowSorting="True"
                        SelectedRowStyle-Height="30px" CellPadding="4" BackColor="White">
                            <asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Full Name" SortExpression="lastname">
                                    <asp:Label ID="DisplayName" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("firstname").ToString() & " " & Eval("lastname").ToString() %>' />
                            <asp:BoundField HeaderText="User Name" DataField="UserName" />

type object parameter

I have a problem I can't figure out.

I've been trying to add a listbox with multi select enabled as a parameter to my select statement in sqldatasource.

So i created a function like this :

string strItemTypes = "";
foreach (ListItem li in lbItemType.Items)
   if (li.Selected)
      strItemTypes += "," + li.Value;
strItemTypes = strItemTypes.Substring(1);

which gives me the selected items like this for example : "1,2,3"...
Then I've been trying to add it to my sql select statement :

SELECT tblOfficesItems.idOfficesItems, tblStockItems.Name, tblStockItems.Description, tblStockItemTypes.TypeItem, tblStockItems.Notes FROM tblOfficesItems INNER JOIN tblStockItems ON tblOfficesItems.fkItem = tblStockItems.idItem INNER JOIN tblStockItemTypes ON tblStockItems.fkTypeItem = tblStockItemTypes.idTypeItem WHERE tblStockItems.fkTypeItem IN ( @fkTypeItems )

using a hiddenfield with a controlparameter of type=object
but it just don't seem to work, seems like the data just won't bind or something and I don't get any errors so I'm confused!!

then i tried this :

SELECT tblOfficesItems.idOfficesItems, tblStockItems.Name

IIS request filtering module

Hi folks,

I have migrated my web application to iis 7.5 Now I am using windows 7 as dev machine.

the problem is it takes several seconds to download a single page into web browser now. It contains only 300 records.

Everything is ok on prod website though. Prod version contains up to 200000 records .I can't also use code profile tool of red gate to analyze possible bottlenecks since the software in question can't restart IIS. No errors in IIS logs. I am using ISAPI Rewrite 3 filter by Helicon to apply some URL rewriting rules. I am thinking about conflict between ISAPI rewriting rules and default IIS 7.5 request filtering rules, since the IIS request filtering module gets a higher priority than even the built-in IIS 7.5 rewriter module. Is it possible to tweak the module through web.config so that priority is given to ISAPI rewriting rules or something like that?

Frankly, I spent several days to figure out solution. No success...

I've also deployed the application on IIS 5.1. Everything works fine. Any ideas about possible solution for IIS 7.5?

MDX Query parameter from SSRS

Get ServerReport selected Parameter value to use in vb query

I'm using ReportViewer in Asp.net 2.0 to view a SSRS report. I need the value of the selected parameter to use in a vb query. The parameters are populated on the server and its a single selection. Doing searches I've come across  ReportViewer1.ServerReport.GetParameters() but I can't figure out if I can use this to determine which value the user has selected in the parameter dropdownlist. Any help would be appreciated.

HTTP Pipelines: Securely Implement Request Processing, Filtering, and Content Redirection with HTTP

ASP.NET is a flexible and extensible framework for server-side HTTP programming. While most people think of ASP.NET in terms of pages served, there is a lower-level infrastructure sitting beneath this page model. The underlying plumbing is based on a pipeline of app, module, and handler objects. Understanding how this pipeline works is key if you want to get the most out of ASP.NET as an HTTP server platform, while making your process more efficient, and keeping your server secure. This article introduces the architecture of the pipeline and shows how you can use it to add sophisticated functionality to an ASP.NET-based app.
