How to design a form to respond to a workflow status of a Custom worklow (not OOB workflow)

The following article describes how to change view of a browser enabled InfoPath form based on the current status of a workflow: Design a form to respond to a workflow status
The article uses an Out-of-the-box (OOB) workflow and its workflow column.

But, I have created a custom workflow using SharePoint Designer (SPD) and according to the some responses to my following post, , the workflow column in a custom workflow cannot be modified to display the values “Approved”, “Rejected” etc.

How can I then change the views of a browser enabled InfoPath form based on the current status of a workflow. I want to display the form as follows:

  1. Make it read only once it has been submitted.
  2. Make it Green once it has been approved
  3. Make it Red if it was rejected

Thanks……..

How to create custom task form in state machine workflow?

Hi, I want to create custom task form in state machine workflow. How can I create & install?  G. Goyal

Custom Task form of a SharePoint Designer workflow is not displaying correctly

We have created a custom workflow using SharePoint Designer. We are using one action “Collect Data from a User”. As you know, this action sends an email to a user with a link to a task form where user is supposed to accept or reject a request. We are encountering following issues with this form:

  1. Form is not a workflow form, it is a task item of the task list that the “Collect Data from a User” action of the workflow creates.
  2. Form opens as an item of the workflow task list in View mode (DispForm.ASPX) instead of Edit mode (EditForm. ASPX)
  3. When user clicks on “Edit Item” button, it displays all the fields of the task as editable – we want only the Approve/Reject option buttons and the comments TextBox (that we created during the workflow design) to be displayed as editable

Can someone please explain what is going on and how can we resolve the above issues?
Thanks……….

How to update workflow status in a custom workflow using SharePoint Designer

We have created a two-level custom workflow using SPD as follows:

Submitter submits request form in a form libraryàApprover A approves/rejectsàApprover B approves/rejectsàSubmitter receives an email and workflow stops

Exception: If Approver A rejectsàsubmitter receives email and workflow stops

Question: Users may have noticed that the default view of the form library has a column with the same name as the workflow. Let us call our workflow as “WF1” So the default view of the form library would show a column named WF1. When yo

Please let us know how to achieve this. Is this possible using Out of Box workflow?

Using Workflow Initiation Form to Modify the Value of a Lookup Column in a List Using a Custom Looku

Hi,

I am trying to develop a workflow and an associated initiation form that will allow a user to update a column in a list that is a lookup column. I have code working so that the lookup options are being properly pulled from the list and populated in the drop down on the initiation page. However after  completing the initiation page and starting the workflow, with a value selected in the lookup list, the value does not get properly updated; it appears to be updating with a null value.

The following is my code for the XOML and Initiation ASPX file. The name of the Lookup Column is "Primary Technical Category" with an XSLT name of "Primary_x0020_Technical_x0020_Ca." The Initiation Variable is also Called Primary Technical Category (PrimaryTechnicalCategory without spaces as SPD renames it).

I would greatly appreciate any assistance!

Thanks, Michael

Custom Form Fields not appearing in Workflow Tasks column list when try to Update List Item

UPDATE:  This problem seems to be solved by closing and reopening the Workflow xoml wizard.

Hi,

I have created a 3 step workflow and at each step I have a Collect data from user task that I use to Update my list item.  I actually have 4 options (If Else clauses) per step and for each option I have to collect the same data from a different user.  So I'm aiming at using "Update list item" 12 times in this workflow.

I have been developing this workflow over some days but the Custom Form Fields that I create in the "Collect data from user" task are not always available when I try to "Update list item".  By which I mean, I try to specify the "data source and field to perfom the lookup on" and I can select the "Workflow Tasks" list but the field that I just created in the "Collect data from user" task does not appear in the fields list!!!

I can't determine why a field doesn't appear.  I have tried using no spaces or special characters, keeping the name of the field short but for some reason my newly created field doesn't appear in the list.  The field does appear in the content type when I look at the settings for the "Workflow Tasks" list and the field appears in the "Workflow Tasks" list of columns and the site content type.&n

Leverage SharePoint Workflow for custom ASP.Net form

Hi everyone,

I'm a .Net developer who has some admin experience in SharePoint but no actual experience writing custom code in MOSS2007. I have created several workflows that are attached to our document libraries in SharePoint using the Workflow Wizard in SharePoint Designer.

My question is, we have a few web forms (written in asp.net c#, data stored in SQL Server) that I want to leverage the SharePoint workflow technology. Can that be possible? For ex. I have a Project Request Form (aspx, c#), how can I "integrate" this form into SharePoint and be able to create a workflow using Workflow Wizard just as with a Document Library?

Workflow Services: Visual Design of Workflows with WCF and WF 4

The .NET Framework 4 makes it easier than ever to implement WCF services using WF. We'll demonstrate just how easy it is by modeling a long-running, durable and instrumented workflow based on a real-world business case without having to write any code.

Foundations: Windows Workflow Design Patterns

Design patterns provide a common, repeatable approach to solving software development tasks, and many different patterns can describe how to accomplish a certain goal in code. When developers begin working with Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), they often ask about how to accomplish common tasks with the technology. This month's column discusses several design patterns used in WF.

Proper setup using Infopath and Custom Workflow using VS 2008

Hi,

I have been struggling for a couple of days, trying to set up a decent
structure for an Infopath project using a custom workflow using Visual Studio 2008.

I had a solution with two projects:

1) Sharepoint 2007 Workflow

2) Infopath 2007 form w/code-behind.

I included the xsn, in the VS solution, but after a day or two,
something went wrong, and I lost some work. I still do not know what
happened, but I could not get my changes to persist afterthat  Doing research I have read that this
stucture, using Infopath xsn, within VS does not work correctly with Source
Control. I am using VSS.

So I since made a change to the set-up so that the .xsn (form template) is separate from
Visual Studio. However, I need to leave the code-behind in VS, since I need to debug
it.

This is my latest problem. I have been unable to attach to the correct
process, as VS generates cachse files, and who knows what else.

My question is simple. What is the supported method for debugging InfoPath
code/behind, which uses a Sharepiont Workflow?

I just also want to say that one should not have
to spend a few days just trying to setup a working development environment.

This should be trouble-free, but it is far from being so. I

How to make the Workflow Status remain "In Progress" when a task is "Rejected"

Hi Sir/Mam,

I have a work flow running on a list, when a task is Rejected at a stage then the Workflow status is set to "Completed". Instead of this I want the Status to remain as "In Progress", so that in future after the modification of the document the Approver may Approve it and then take it to the next stages. This is not possible if the Workflow is set to "Completed".

Can you please suggest an easy way to do this

Thanks in Advance

Sai
