Send object from one page to another

I want to create object in 1.aspx, and then send it to 2.aspx. This methods are bad, because:

1)Send object with url, like this:

This is not confidential.

Session["field1"] = "12345"; // set
Object foo = Session["field1"]; // get

This is bad too, because in 2.aspx this fields send to textboxes, and if user go to 2.aspx without 1.aspx, he'll see old data.

Building a Custom Data Grid: Performing Ad Hoc Web Reporting with a VBScript 5.0 Class Object

A flexible, customizable grid for displaying data is a useful tool for ASP developers. It allows Web visitors to customize their view of your data. This article takes the data grid presented in "Ad Hoc Web Reporting with ADO 2.0" by John Papa and Charles Caison (MIND, December 1998) and adds handy features such as a finds feature that supports multiple finds and a mode for adding and editing records. This version also improves response time by allowing asynchronous record download and it componentizes the code so it can be used as a standalone VBScript class object that can be reused in other pages.

Changing aspx page causes session data to be lost...

Strange but true. Any ideas what might be causing this?

Calling a method with a class object as parameter data type.

   [WebMethod]    public string GetInfo(Customer inCust)    {        // Code in here    } I have a web service that resides on a remote server. I want to call a public method of theweb service named  "GetInfo". The method is shown above. The web service method expects a class object oftype "Customer". What I did to create a Customer object was to define in my asp.net project my own class named "Customer" which is exactlythe same as the class that belongs to the web service project on the remote server. I then created an instance of Customerand tried to call the web service passing in an object of type customer : my.Service ws = new my.Service(); // Get web service connectionCustomer aCustomer = new Customer();aCustomer.Initialize();ws.GetInfo(aCustomer) // call web service passing in a Customer object The problem is that the compiler gives me the following error: Value of type '_Default.Customer' cannot be converted to 'ws.Class1'. Here Default is refering to my Default.aspx.cs code. Why is this? Do I need to Cast my "aCustomer" class object to a type ofws.Customer ? How do I do that?

Using extensions with Object Class and Page in WPF

I don't usually ask a question without trying it first, but hey, why not.  Searching for this one is not exactly easy. I am wondering if I can use extensions with Object and if they (the variables) will subsequently be available for use in a Page partial class generated for WPF?  By this I mean in the same project and assembly. BTW, I won't be offended by posts pointing out why not to do this with Object.  The why in this case is something as basic as having one base class that contain: bYes = True; bNo = False; Now of course, having a base class is not going to work with something like Page... There may be much better ways to this, what I do not want is syntax MyBaseInstance.bYes and MyBaseInstance.bNo in MyPageInstance and bYes or bNo everywhere else.  Any advice? Regards,  Dave Horsman

Unable to Create Object Variable for Linq Data Class

For some unknown reason I suddenly am unable to create an object variable for a Linq Data Class. If I create a new project and try the process again with the same database everything works as advertized.

The code I am using is Dim db As New RoggDataContext  which gives me an error on the object variable "db": Overload resolution failed because no accessibility 'NEW'  accepts this number of arguments.

I have looked inside every file in the Web Project like the web config to check the connection string, gobal, and designer.vb looking for any errors whit no JOY.  I also tried to create a new form and code behind with a button and received the same error.

This is mind blowing because as I already stated, I can create a new Web Site and the problem goes away.

Any help is appreciated!

page inside update panel doesn't refresh the session object after postback of any control

I have many controls like dropdown, radiobuttonlist, etc on my page and I put all these controls inside the update panel so that the page doesn't look to be posting back when something is selected. Now the working on the page is very smooth. But the session object isn't getting refreshed even if I postback to the server and as a result even if the users are working on the page they are being sent to the login screen after 20 mins.

Is there anyway where I could put all the controls in update panel and still refresh the session after any postback(dropdown selection)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

how to persist a class object when page PostBack

i have created a user control UserControl.ascx, in Code behind file of UserControl.ascx i have created an object of a class MyClass.cs,
if(!Page.IsPostback) {
objMyClass= new MyClass();
but when i click on button of UserControl.ascx page and try to access objMyClass object then it set as null, so how to persist MyClass object when page PostBack, i wanted to keep object persist till the user access the page, when user goes out of this page then object should distroy?

To keep the object persist, i have used ViewState

So i have made MyClass Serializable and
i have used ViewState to keep my objet persist, but it give the error
like : UserControl is not marked as serializable.

so i have made my UserControl as Serializable, but the problem is still coming.

One more thing is that MyClass is also resposnsible to create some other class object also.

Can any one suggest me correct solution?

Problem i am getting when i try to PersisObject On UserControl

[SerializationException: Type 'ASP.common_grid_UserControl_ascx' in Assembly 'App_Web_44142fbl, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' is not marked as serializable.] System.Runtime.Serialization.FormatterServices.InternalGetSeri

How can I manage session data outside the ASP.Net session object?

I want to be able to persist data across a session but do this outside of the built-in session state object.  Why is a long story that I will not go into here.  I just need to know where I can put data other than in the session object that will persist across the specific session (in memory - I already have a database solotion).

Can I Assign class object to session variable?

Hi all, i have a class Emp and whether it is possible to save the object of this class in a session?

And after creating the session with object how can i store it in state service and how can i use the object from session??

thanks in advance...

How to change the default page base class?

I've tried setting the <pages pageBaseType="DynamicWebPage" /> value in web.config, but when I response.write out the page type, I'm still getting Microsoft.WebPages.WebPage.

I'm simply trying to sub-class WebPage and add some additional functionality such as a dynamic PageData dictionary similar to Phil Haack's dynamic ViewData dictionary.

Posting data to ASMX and return Object for jQuery

I am using fluent NHibernate with WebForms and I am trying to build a page where I allow a user to post a status update on their profile page and I a using a .asmx WebService to post the data to the database and then returnig a StatusUpdate instance to the page to be used by jQuery. I have a couple problems.

1) First off when I return a string from the WebService(i was testing) the textbox where the user enters their status doesnt empty the contents. And since the page doesnt refresh even if I manally clear out the textbox and put in something else, it still posts the previous status to the database again. How do I fix this?

2) Secondly, when I return the StatusUpdate Object from the Webservice I cant the results to display anything. Like I sad, Im using jQuery to make an AJX call to the WebService.

Here is my code:

User Profile Page:

Status: <asp:Label ID="status" runat="server"></asp:Label><span style="font-size:.7em;"><asp:Label ID="statustime" runat="server"></asp:Label></span><br />
<textarea id="statusBox" rows="3" cols="40"></textarea><br />
<input type="button" value="Update Status" onclick="SetStatus(); return false;

Zip Your Data: Using the Zip Classes in the J# Class Libraries to Compress Files and Data with C#

Zip compression lets you save space and network bandwidth when storing files or sending them over the wire. In addition, you don't lose the directory structure of folders you Zip, which makes it a pretty useful compression scheme. The C# language doesn't have any classes that let you manipulate Zip files, but since .NET-targeted languages can share class implementations, and J# exposes classes in the java.util.zip namespace, you can get to those classes in your C# code. This article explains how to use the Microsoft J# class libraries to create an application in C# that compresses and decompresses Zip files. It also shows other unique parts of the J# runtime you can use from any .NET-compliant language to save some coding.

ADO.NET: Tackle Data Concurrency Exceptions Using the DataSet Object

ADO.NET provides many techniques for improving the performance of data-intensive applications and for making them easier to build. The DataSet, the hallmark of the ADO.NET object model, serves as a miniature, disconnected facsimile of a data source. While using the DataSet improves performance by reducing expensive trips to the database server, it also introduces the possibility of multiple users attempting to change the same data simultaneously, thereby generating data concurrency exceptions. This article examines the common causes behind data concurrency exceptions and presents techniques for overcoming them.

Collaboration Data Objects: Send Microsoft Exchange Appointment Reminders to Your Pager Using CDO

Besides your typical e-mail services, Microsoft Exchange also provides the service infrastructure you need to build extensible knowledge and workflow management systems. Understanding Collaboration Data Objects (CDO) is the key to accessing these Exchange services for your own programs. With CDO you can automate tedious tasks and integrate information such as e-mail, calendars, and contacts with almost any application. This article explains how CDO enables you to access Exchange services, then walks you through a sample application that reads calendar events from an Exchange server and sends pager reminders to your users.

Using Session to pass data between forms

In my app, I am displaying an Rss Feed, I have a button that takes the user to another form where they can select a them.  Upon selecting the theme, they are taken back to the original form.

If the user has selected which theme they want to view then they click on the button to change theme, I need to pass the information about what rss feed they were viewing through session so that once they select the theme they want they are redirected back to the main page and the rss feed they were viewing should still be displayed.

Since I've already bound the data to the xmlDataSource and DataList I am trying the following:

Session.Add("CurrentRssFeed", XmlDataSource1.DataFile);

Session.Add("CurrentDataList", DataList1);

I'm not sure I am passing the data over correctly and I'm not sure how to specify it in the page_preinit.

Any ideas???

Flash player doesn't send cookies while requesting an aspx page

 I'm developing a web-site, that uses SWFUpload for multiple files upload to the server. Page, that uploades files, is accessable only to registered user. Authentication is done via web-forms (authentication mode="Forms" in Web.config). Flash uploades files to special web page - upload.aspx. In IE everything works great, but Flash player in non-IE browser (in Firefox, for example) does not send any cookies to upload.aspx. Because of it no sesion and no authentication information is available in this page.

 I can pass all the information, necessary for uploading, in GET-parameters, which upload.aspx recieve. But this is a serious security hole and I don't want to expose session information. I can pass session identifier in GET-request. But the question is the following: how can I restore session information from the session identifier? How can I make HttpContext.Current.User point to currently logged in user in this case?

Any help will be appreciated.
