HttpContext.Items and Server.Transfer/Execute

Posted By: Amit Mehra     Posted Date: March 23, 2010    Points: 2   Category :ASP.Net

The problem was basically that when a Server.Transfer call was applied the script container (and also various ClientScriptProxy script embedding routines) would potentially fail to load up the specified scripts.

ASP Development Server doesn't appear to execute JQuery?

Experienced a really strange problem today. I added a jquery script to my MVC application to collapse sections of a View (via divs).

Pretty standard stuff, he showed me the script working before hand and it works.

However any time I would run my MVC app via Visual Studio the script would not work. I changed browsers, re-imported the code from source control and basically me and my co-worker banged our heads together for some time trying to figure out why the exact same code was running different on two machines.

Publishing the MVC app to our web server and running worked for both machines but for some bizarre reason when I ran it on my VS it never did.

One thought that came to mind is that by VS uses the cassini default lightweight webserver for debugging, whereas my co-worker is using IIS.

This seems to suggest then that the ASP Development server does not support JQuery. Is this true and if not, what could the problem be?

Cannot add SQL Server 2008 R2 Report items to SharePoint Server 2010 document library

Using account which is the primary parent site administrator, can upload RDS and RDL files to the document library (however, cannot open report). User is also a domain admin with SA on the database instances. Cannot add Report Data Source with "New Document" icon. The permissions granted to user '[domain]\[user]' are insufficient for performing this operation. Under "Site Settings", "Managed Shared Schedules" fails with same error. Attempting to deploy from BIDS results in the same permissions error. Sharepoint Server 2010, Report Server 2008 R2. RS and SP databases hosted on remote server (SQL Server 2008 R2). All connections (SharePoint services, RS services, users) except SQLAgent authenticating to remote SQL Server with Kerberos (all SPNs look correct). Single site, site collection "/". Document directory called "Reports". Windows Integrated Security (Negotiate). How would I troubleshoot/solve problem?

What is the difference between Server.Transfer & response.Redirect()

Hello Friends,This is the very favourate question available on every interview questions site.I have searched for it. But didnt get the satisfactory practical difference between these two. Please show me the difference between this two through a working sample demo. Please ilustrate it through a simple sample.

Any way to execute a workflow when a caml query returns zero items?

Lets say I have a list with a status column and I want to execute a workflow when all items in the list have a status of complete. I basically want to execute a workflow when the caml query looking for non-complete statuses returns zero rows. Can I do this with SPD or are there any 3rd party tools for this? I'm thinking of writing one if there are not.

Execute SSIS PAckage on Remote Server

I've seen several posts pertaining to this topic, but none of them covers what I'm having an issue with. I'm trying to create a "master job server". Essentially, I want to control all maintenance jobs from one central location. I've created SSIS packages that handle full backups, transaction log backups, index rebuilding, etc. on all of my production boxes. I've stored those packages in SQL Server. What I'd like to do now is create a separate job for each of those tasks on one central SQL Server and run those packages from there. I've been successful in creating a test job. The only step in the job is an SSIS PAckage execution step. The step successfully found the package I want to execute on the target server. When the job ran, I got the follwoing error: The job failed.  Unable to determine if the owner (ADMINSYS\arobinsf) of job SFO2PQE03 - Database Backup (FULL) has server access (reason: Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'ADMINSYS\arobinsf', error code 0x2751. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 15404)). I want to make sure this job is executing on the remote server and not trying to execute locally. Is there something I'm missing in the set up of this job? I should also mention that the SSIS packages were created in SQL2K5, but I'm executing them from SSMS for SQL2K8. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! A. M. Robinson

Transfer SQL Server Objects reporting success but nothing transferred

I'm trying to "clone" the structure of one database to a new blank database. I can copy the tables over using the Transfer Sql server object without any problems. When I create a separate task "Transfer Sql server object" for the views (CopyAllViews set to true or picking individual views), it always reports success however none of the views were copied. The same problem occurs when I attempt to copy stored procedures. Anyone have an idea of what's going wrong?

How can I get a list of users that are able to start/stop/execute jobs on sql server?

I know that the users with sysadmin roles are able to start/stop/execute jobs but I wonder if there are another roles or permissions that enable users to do this.   regards,

SSMS 2008 Activity Monitor Activity Monitor is unable to execute queries against server (SQL Server

I get the following error when running SQL Server SSMS 2008 (32-bit) on my (Windows 7 64-bit) workstation against our SQL Server 2005 (32-bit) development server running Windows Server 2003 (32-bit): TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio ------------------------------ The Activity Monitor is unable to execute queries against server <my server\instance name>. Activity Monitor for this instance will be placed into a paused state. Use the context menu in the overview pane to resume the Activity Monitor. ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Unable to find SQL Server process ID 2256 on server VTX-DEV-01 (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.ResourceMonitoring)   I can expand the panes and all display data except Overview and Data File I/O. This is true for all instances on that server. The SSMS 2005 Activity Monitor (also on my workstation) works fine when connected to that server. I checked for the registry setting to disable the performance counters on both my machine and the server, and it was not there. I started the Performance Counter DLL Host on my machine, but that made no difference. I can see all Processor counters on the server from my local Performance Monitor. I ran "lodctr /R" on both systems, but that didn't help. The only SQL counters I see on the server (from my workstation) are SQLServer:SSIS Pipeline and SQLServer:SSIS

Transfer SQL Server Objects Task

I'm trying to use the Transfer SQL Server Objects Task to copy database users and database roles from one database to another. The problem is that some of the users already exists in the destination database. Is there a setting or expression or error handler that will allow me to specify to only copy the objects that don't already exist? I can ignore the failure but I won't know if it's really a copy failure or a duplicate. I read the roll-your-own blog referenced in a similar post (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/mattm/archive/2007/04/18/roll-your-own-transfer-sql-server-objects-task.aspx) but I don't know if a property exists for the transfer object with will allow me to indicate that I want to copy users that aren't already in the destination. Has anyone successfully done this? It seems like it would be a simple task.

Server.Transfer and Login Credentials

I have an application that has a user Login Control (provided by ASP). I am just now working with Server.Transfer and the interesting thing about it is that a user can access restricted websites through server.transfer without having to sign in.

I am sure that I am not the first person to want to do this; however, quick searches don't really show me much.

How can I get the Server.Transfer to not allow a transfer unless the user has been logged in.  I am wondering if there is a "True" or "False" that I need to set for a user's credentials or Authenticated status to be sent during a server.transfer()?

Data Transfer in C# slow when targeting SQL Server 2005 using SQL Server SMO version 10 (distributed

Hello everyone,

I have a strange issue regarding SQL Server SMO Transfer. I am using the Transfer class to create a copy of a database. I will explain the different cases I have tried so far and maybe someone can help me figure out what's going on.

First case

I run my C# code from an assembly that references version 9.0.242.0 of SMO assemblies that are in my GAC

  • Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo
  • Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo
  • Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlEnum

If I target a database hosted on a Sql Server 2005 database engine, it works perfectly and fast.

But of course, as soon as I try to target a Sql Server 2008 database engine, it complains that it is not compatible. No surprise there.

Second case

I run the exact same C# code from an assembly that references version 10.0.0.0 of SMO assemblies that are also present in my GAC

  • Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo
  • Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc
  • Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo
  • Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.Extended
  • Microsoft.SqlServer.SqlEnum

If I target a database hosted on a Sql Server 2008 database engine, it works perfectly and fast.

However, if I try to target the sam

sql 2008: the activity monitor is unable to execute queries against server

Installed sql server 2008 entrprise edition on VM server windows 2008 (64bit). When launch Activity Monitor, get:

The Acityvity Monitor is unable to execute queries against server <server name>.
Activity Monitor for this instance will be placed into a paused state.
Use the context menu in the overview pane to resume the Activity Monitor.

Additional information:
Unable to find SQL Server process ID xxxx on server <server name>
   (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.ResourceMonitoring)

Tried to "use he context menu in the overview pane to resume the Activity Monitor" and got the same error again.

Installed sql 2008 in my XP machine, I can use Activity Monitor (AM) for local instance but cannot launch it for the instance on the server (same error).

Used windows authentication with sysadmin role for connection from my machine. On the server used domain\administrator that the account created the instance.

Please help.

Server.transfer errors in VS2008 on Windows7

Getting several different errors trying to use server.transfer.  The most recent is

No http handler was found for request type 'POST'

on the line:

server.transfer("test.aspx")

Test.aspx contains only an <h1>test</h1> tag.

Noticed someone mentioned having to use the Classic ASP Application pool.  Unfortunately that did not solve my problem.

Anyone know the hack for this?
