Winforms.ReportViewer RTL Parameters Prompt

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I have used for sometime the HTML Viewer with the Reporting Services of MSSQL2005 using the WebBrowser control.

For the past day i've been trying to move to the ReportViewer control in my application and i have a small (but significant) problem.

I can't seem to find a way to make the parameters show right to left.

In the html viewer i used the "rc:Stylesheet" parameter to pass a custom css to show the reports the way i wanted,

but i can't find that property in the ReportViewer or any other way of setting it right.

I tried the RightToLeft property already with no use.

I use the ReportViewer in remote mode, not local.

is there something i'm missing?

prompt/display "AGAIN" Report Parameters on Main Report

I have main report with 3 report parameter ( start date, end date & drop-down list series of id's) by selecting these three paramters users can view the main-report.

Now inside the main-report I have link-report which I have implemented the functionality by using Text-Box and navigation tab "Jump to report" also selected "parameters" under same navigation tab with which I want to sent Report Parameters value to run link report successfully.

And from link-report I can come back to main-report by hitting "back to main-report" link with the same Report Parameters values.

Everything is working fine, it means I'm able to go back and forth by selecting different values from the main-report Report-Parameters values and can come back from link to main report with the same Report Parameters values.

So my question is regarding coming from link-report back again to main-report (2nd trip):-

When I hit on the back link, it goes to the main-report, but all the 3 Report Parameter's promts on the Main-Report aren't display; with this users can't change the values into the Report Parameters to accomplish that they need to execute the the main-report again to display the Report Parameters, so instead of asking

Getting ReportViewer client parameters at runtime

I cannot seem to do the following:

 1)  I have a report that uses the ASP.NET 2.0 Report Viewer against a RS2005 report that has parameters.  Some have default values.  One is a text box.  Others are drop-down lists.
2)  I have ShowParameterPrompts = true and am presented the parameter area upon first visit to the page.
3)  I fill in the parameters on the web browser page and click the View Report button
4)  Now, on the server side, I want to examine the parameter values (in the Page_Load event).  When I do a GetParameters on the ServerReport of the ReportViewer, I receive back a collection of the default parameters values, not the values that I just submitted.

How do I see the parameter values submitted by the client?

Other information I found while investigating this:

1)  If I click on the View Report button again (and again), GetParameters always return the previous set of parameters, not the current values that the client submitted.
2)  If I look at the Request.Forms collections I can see values for controls that have been generated by the ReportViewer control in the parameters area - where the values are different when the client submitts new parameters.
3)  If I do a GetParameters in the pages Page_PreRender event, I see the same behavior.

How to override reporting services PrintDialog in winforms reportviewer

Hi All,

I have a requirement to get output value from report print dialog to check whether user clicks "Print" button or "Cancel" button. if anybody knows how to override the report viewer print dialog, please share a sample code with me.

reportviewer does not prompt for a parameter

I have built visual basic windows forms application with Visual Studio 2010. I want to be able to create a report with a yes/no parameter that show either  a detail list or a summary only. I built such a report with a windows form and reportviewer. I used View>Report Data in the report design mde to create a "ShowAll" parameter but I am now unable to provide this parameter at runtime because the reportviewer does not prompt for a parameter. I found no visual basic code to set "ShowAll" parameter from a report form checkbox placed on the report form to the reportviewer.  How do I do it?

Linq: how to share parameters between lambda expressions ?

When using Linq to objects, you will quickly feel the need to pass some parameters from a method to another but it's not so easy because each Linq method is not calling the following one. In a Linq sequence, each method is using the result computed by the previous one. So, local contexts are not visible from one method to another.
The compiler is using two technical different ways to let parameters go out of a method.

Entity Framework 4 Tips for WinForms Development

I've been recently working on a smart client (WinForms) application backed by Entitiy Framework 4 (EF4) on Visual Studio 2010. In this blog post I will try to give you some tips regarding some limitations and points to be careful about EF4.

view state vs request parameters

If  the view state is the data entered into the form fields then they are supposed to be available in the request parameters or request body. Then why would we need view state for?

FormView -- Parameters and asp:Table

I've already solved this problem to my satisfaction, I just want to know WHY it works this way.

I have a FormView control bound to an ObjectDataSource.  Let's say our data source is a hypothetical table with three columns:  id, name, age.  Why is it that when I use the <asp:Table> element inside of the FormView, the parameter values are not set, but when I use the standard <table> tag, it works fine?

This seems like a .NET problem to me.  I expect the <asp:Table> element to work in the same way as <table> because they are, for all intents and purposes, the same thing.  Am I missing something?

linqdatasource parameters question

I'm currently getting to know the linqdatasource control. What would happen if several WHERE parameters are added to the linqdatasource control declaritively in the aspx page but no WHERE clause is defined?

1. is there any issue with setting up multiple WHERE parameters in the aspx markup for linqdatasource but then deciding which ones actually get used at runtime by setting the actual WHERE clause at run time? Would the unused parameters simply be ignored and cause no issues?

2. when you need to modify WHERE clause or WHERE parameters at runtime do you need to do so in an event handler? such as linqdatasource.selecting?
I see from the above link it is possible, but is that the standard way to handle controlling filtering in code behind for linqdatasource?

2b. if you use an event such as linqdatasource.selecting to add where parameters and/or modify the where clause in code will that also break the builtin sorting and paging support of the linqdatasource with a gridview?

Session problem with display of image in row of reportviewer

Hello techies...

I am new to this sql reporting service. But anyhow by surfing I am able to bind the report but i was stuck in image display.

Anyways, i also managed that. But the real problem is whenever i was keeping a image control in rdlc report i was having session prob. If i remove the image control then as usual report works fine.

Please suggest me some solution.... either for session problem or for image display. I am keeping the image name in database but for binding the rdlc report i am using a store procedure which return the path (static) concating with the image name(kept in database).

Hope to find a solution .....

Automatic Batch Printing in ReportViewer Remote Mode

Please help me, i have a properly working codes that is capable of the following:

1. Printing of Reports from ReportViewer without using the build-in print ICON in the actual ReportViewer. to view the working for the printing alone please click here.

2. Batch Printing by making a loop and placing a checkbox on the gridview where the needed paramerter (DataKeyNames ID) is retrieved then pass to the ReportViewer

This is my Code

foreach (GridViewRow row in GridView1.Rows)
            CheckBox chk = (CheckBox)row.FindControl("CheckBox2");
            if (chk.Checked)
                ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportServerUrl = new Uri("http://TestServer/ReportServer");
                ReportViewer1.ServerReport.ReportPath = @"/Tavern/StudPaymentReport";
                ReportViewer1.ProcessingMode = ProcessingMode.Remote;
                ReportParameter[] rptParams = new ReportParameter[1];

                rptParams[0] = new ReportParameter("ClientID", GridView1.DataKeys[row.RowIndex].Value.ToString());

ReportViewer :: Failed to enable constraints. But my statement is valid!!

  • n error has occurred during report processing.
      • Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
        • Failed to enable constraints. One or more rows contain values violating non-null, unique, or foreign-key constraints.

    Why do I keep getting this error, even when not using any data on the report. When I run the query in SQL server I get a resultset. However when I try to render the report I get this error.

    Dynamic Report in reportviewer

    HI I m sorry to say this But this task too urgent.

     Ex- i have two tables in my db name called Comdetails, deptdetails.

    TCS is a one company name stored in ComDetails and Company_ID took as primany key,

    TCS having 10 department stored in deptdetails and Company_ID as foreign key.

    so now in DB we have available one company with 10 departments.

    so now i need to generate report , i m using report.rdlc and reportviewer.

    i hope upto now its clear.

    my task-

    1- i have two pages in a report in page 1 i m doing designing report like top i  need to show companydetails, middle frist department details in deptdetails table , and bottom some calculation part leave about calculation part. in report page 2 on  top i need to show second department details from deptdetails next below the design again same design i did here i need to show 3 department details from deptdetails next below the design again same design i did here i need to show 4 department details from deptdetails next below again calculation part design leave about calculation part. so up to now i shown 4 department details here still i need to show 6 department details , for this programatically after 4 department details finish next generate dynamatically page 2 of re

    Optional named parameters work pretty well

    Rob has found a use for dynamic: http://blog.wekeroad.com/2010/08/06/flexible-parameters-with-csharp Yay! Let's celebrate! Well, I was a little puzzled because I don't think it quite adds up in the specific example he chose (although please see no aggressiveness here: Rob's a friend; peace!). The idea is to have the same flexibility that a dynamic language can offer in terms of evolution of an API. Here's his original Ruby example: def my_method(args)   thing_one = args["thing1"]   thing_two = args["thing2"] end my_method :thing1 => "value", :thing2 = Time.now The idea, which is quite common in dynamic languages, is that instead of passing a list of predetermined parameters in a specific order, you...(read more)
