workflows and content types

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I use SharePoint Foundation 2010 and SharePoint Designer (and if I have to Visual Studio 2010).

I have a list with 3 content types. I would like to associate one workflow (3 steps) with two of the content types int the list and another workflow (6 steps) with the third content type. Is that possible? I can't get it to work.

I have build a simple workflow in SharePoint Designer and I can start it manually for the items in the list based on one of the content types. However it will not start automatically - I have set it to start automatically. I do not log in with the System Account, when I create content type items in the list.

External Content Types and Workflows

Hello Community,

I am trying to figure out if there is there a way to create a workflow for an External Content Type List?  Has anyone done this?  Is this possible?

Thanks!

SharePoint Tutorial - Content Types

SharePoint content types provide users with a way to manage and organize content in a more meaningful way. It's a reusable of settings you want to apply to a particular type of document in a library or item in a list.

Content Types in MOSS 2007

In this article I will try to describe the one of the best feature in Microsoft office Share Point 2007 called Content Types.

Content types are simply collection of contents. Each content in a Content type can have different settings.Basically it is a reusable collection of settings which you want to apply to a particular category of contents.

workflows when saving site as template with content

I have have a MOSS 2007 site on a production server with custom workflows.  I saved the site as a template with content and used the template to create a sibling site.  I am testing it and the workflows aren't working.  Is this to be expected? I have read that workflow don't work when saving between development and production, but I can't find anything that addresses both sites being on production. Will I need to recreate the custom workflows by hand?

Add new content types to multiple libraries

We use MOSS for document management and content types for document types (i.e. specification, quote, PO etc.)).  We would like to add additional content types to our libraries.  I was hoping to find a tool that would help me to propagate these new content types ad I am not a programmer.

Content Types

Please could someone enlighten me a little bit on what content types are and how they are used?

Files in document libary not picking up the correct content types

Hi, I have a document libary where I have 10 InfoPath content types attached. For eg: Type1, Type2 etc... Type10. In this doc lib, I have a folder for each cutomer, and inside each of those folders, I have a file of each Content type (".xml"). I am creating these Folders and files programatically. The problem is that, the files are not picking up its content types. Every file (.xml), when uploaded, its content type is "Document" which is the default content type. Earlier it used to pickup the correct content types. What could be wrong?

Sharepoint 2010 Missing Content Types

Has anyone run into an issue where your system's base content types dissappear after deploying a new site definition.  We are doing a proof of concept using several CMS solutions and decided to see how sharepoint would fare in the process.  I worked on the POC for 6 weeks without any issues.  After selecting sharepoint as the solution I started refactoring my code into a more logical structure as many of the components were developed from sample code.  I created a couple of custom site definitions that were pretty simple.  Basically I copied the onenet.xml from the publishing site template that sharepoint uses and made a few simple modifications like associating my custom master page and a custom content type with the default page.  When I initially developed these I had no issues at all but yesterday I suddenly was not able to create sites using these site defs.  I figured there was some kind of conflict with my old templates so I deleted all site collections on the server and then tried to create a new site collection and then I couldn't even create a base publishing site.  I got an error indicating the base content type did not exist.  After spending hours going through logs it was clear that sharepoint was not able to build the content type hiearchy when creating new sites so I took a look at the UI and there were only abo

New column to existing content types

HI, How can I add a new column to existing content type. The field shoule be reflected to new lists created using the content type as well to old lists created using the content type. None of functionalities associated with old lists should get affected. Thanks, kesari suresh
