Modifying the Calendar View with hover tooltips

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 13, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

I would like to modify the current Calendar view that is shipped with SharePoint 2010, so that I can customize and add any (or all) of the fields that are visible in the Calendar view.  Since the Calendar view has a limited amount of space for viewing details of the event, I would like the ability to view many of these fields as a hover tooltip similar to how Netflix displays movie details while hovering over the title/name of a movie.

Is this currently possible in SharePoint 2010?

Applying custom CSS to the MOSS 2007 Calendar control Month view

I have a requirement to use the MOSS 2007 Calendar Control - month view is to apply a custom css to have a look and feel as per our requirements.

We tried applying the custom css to the MOSS 2007 calendar control - month view, it does take the custom css and applies it, but when i click on any date and come back to the calendar control, it changes the CSS of the MOSS calendar control back to the default one.

Let me know if anyone has any suggestion on  how to customize the calendar control for css for our intranet application.

Your response would be highly appreciated.

Customize calendar to view next month

I was wondering if there is a way to change the calendar view on SharePoint so that it defaults to next month.  Will I have to create a custom web part for this functionality or can I create a view and manipulate it with filters? Thank you in advance.

Displaying Calendar Description Field In Calendar View

In the default "out of the box" calendar view it only shows the Title of a calendar event. Is there any way to show not only the Title field but also the Description field?

Calendar and grouped view causes errors

Hello, I've come across a bizarre situation on a standard web part page. First I add a simple (or so I thought) document library web part with a view grouped on a column. The view is collapsed. Then, I add a calendar view to a page. Immediately, my grouped doc lib view turns into a site navigation web part with no resemblance to the doc lib. If I change the doc lib view to a non-grouped view, all is well again. I've built three different pages on different sites and can re-create this problem every time. If I change the Calendar web part to a detail rather than a calendar view, the page goes back to normal. Any idea what is going on here or how I can mix a calendar and a grouped view on the same page?   Thanks.

Remove time from Month Calendar view

We have a calendar part on a page that has very narrow boxes for each day. As such we want to remove the time from appearing before the title of the event. I have managed to do this through css where there is only one event. However, have not been able to remove it where there are mutiple events. Any ideas on how this can be removed in both scenarios? Cheers, Theo

Sharepoint Calendar export to Outlook but can only view the Title column

I have created a Calendar in Sharepoint for booking out company vehicles. The fields I have created are: Vehicle (Choice), Driver (User/Group), Start & End Times, Title (text), DisplayField (Calculated text based on Vehicle + Title...... it would be nice to include Driver but it seems Sharepoint cannot handle the User/Group datatype in a calculated field.....but I digress). I use the DisplayField calculated field in my default calendar view in Sharepoint. All is good at this point. When one connects it to Outlook (via the Action menu in Sharepoint) the calendar is added but all the entries show only the Title field. If I double click on an entry, only the title field appears - the Vehicle and Driver values are missing. When I try to create a new entry - only the Title field (plus other default Outlook fields) are available. So: How can one display a value other than Title by default, and how can I display the other columns when looking at the event detail?

Problems with a calendar and a grouped view

Hi, I am having a problem mixing a SharePoint 2010 Calendar view with a Document library view that is grouped and collapsed. Whenever I add the calendar view to a page (calender details work fine just not the graphical calendar), I lose all the detail in my grouped documents view. I see either an empty icon with an "X" on it or just the name of the grouped column. I need to have these elements together on a team site home page for a major project. If you have not tried this, could someone see if they can replicate the behavior? I've tried it on my dev and QA systems and it happens the same on both and in different site collections as well. Thanks.

Programmatically adding Calendar web part with summary view or custom view?

Within my feature I am adding a calendar web part to page.  I would like to specify the summary view (not the full graphic calendar view).  Is this possible? Is it possible to create a custom view and set the listviewwebpart to this custom view through code?   thx -davedave

Creating a Calendar view that only shows weekdays.

I've been trialling SP2010 for a little while now, and it looks great. In developing an Intranet, I would like to create a couple of custom views. A weekly calendar view that shows THIS week, in a day-by day format, that only shows monday to friday, with a 1-2 line summary of every entry A way to show on the same page, or link to NEXT week, that shows a similar view We currently have an old/manual Intranet setup that displays the current week + next week, on the same front page, so that Staff can see, at a glance, everything happening in the 2 week period (which is as much information as they want!) Being able to eliminate Weekend from the view is the most important bit, as it enables a bit more room on the screen, and since it's a school, nothing is ever on the weekend anyway! I found a few bits of js code, that are meant to work with WSS2007, but I couldn't get them to work in 2010 (I'm guessing quite a lot has changed) Thanks, Rohan

Easy Calendar View Question - I hope

I have a Calendar in Sharepoint Foundation 2010. The only thing I want to do but can't is to have the Event Description text shown along with the Event title. Is it possible? Some event last several hours so there is plenty of space to show the text. TIA

how to display multiple calendar list data in single calendar view

Hi, Normally, we can used to extend the ListViewWebPart's ViewType property to display a particular calendar list items in Calendar View in our custom webpart. Is it any way to display multiple calendar list data in a single calendar view ?? or please provide some pointers related to this issue. Any help is much appreciated.

Creating calendar view from tasks list programmatically

Hi All, I have a Tasks list of type "107" and I am trying to create a Calendar view for the tasks list. The way I created the calendar view is as follows: SPView calView = l.Views.Add("Calendar", l.GetView(l.DefaultView.ID).ViewFields.ToStringCollection(), string.Empty, (uint)100, true, false, SPViewCollection.SPViewType.Calendar, false);<br/><br/> I would like to specify the Time interval, Calendar columns, Default scope for this view. Can anyone point me to documentation for creating a calendar view from tasks list? Do I need to specify that in the viewquery? Thanks.

Calendar Day View - Location for all day events

How do you get the location to appear in the calendar for an all day event?  Right now, the only info that appears is the title, even though Location is the sub-heading chosen for the calendar columns in both week and day view (month view does not have a subheading choice).  I am unable to get any sub-headings to appear for all day events.

Thank you

Group Calendar View

I created a team site from the template but am struggling with the calendar views.  When I load the page, I want to see each person in the group in the calendar web part.  By default, I can only see myself.

The default view is set to "Group Week" so it would seem that everyone should be visible.  When I select People | SiteMembers, they show up so there isn't a permission problem.

Is there a different "group" than the site members which the webpart reads from?  I can't seem to find any info on this.

Thanks, bob

SharePoint 2007 - Calendar view of many teams

Many teams are using the SharePoint 2007 feature in my company.

My boss wants to see a view which shows him all the calendars.

Is it possible to create a calendar view which is an aggregate of multiple calendars?

I am using SharePoint 2007 enterprise.

Edit: I guess this feature is called the Calendar Overlay. (not sure though). How can I have this in 2007 environment?
