How to close the sharepoint modal dialog and refresh the parent page using Server side API?

I am trying to find a way to close a modal page that has been opened with the click event of ribbon control. Once the modal dialog is opened, I'm showing 'OK' button for the user to confirm some action on the respective list item. If the user clicks on 'OK', I'm performing some action on the listitem using server side code. Here the problem for me is, once the action is completed on this listItem, I need to close the dialog and refresh the parent page (AllItem.aspx) using *sharepoint server side
API*

I'm aware that for closing the dialog we have JS code "SP.UI.ModalDialog.commonModalDialogClose". But this is not useful for me, because I should first run some action on the listitem and once that action is complete, then only I should close this dialog.

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

how to impose javascript event processing?

If I have some form control like textbox and I want the event handler to be located in the html instead of at the server side, how to do that? Of course I can copy paste javascript code in the aspx file. But is it possible to do that using some object oriented approach (ie programmatically in the code behind)?

Thanks

Refreshing a Jquery modal dialog after closing another Jquery modal dialog

I have one aspx page which contains a webpart. The structure of the webpart is:

Webpart(holds one user control say UC1)

      UC1-> contains another user control say (UC2) in a <div>, which I am going to show as a popup on clicking of a link button inside a gridview in UC1.

      UC2-> contain another user control say (UC3) in a <div>, which I am going to show as a popup on clicking of a button inside in UC2.

That means -> UC1(main page) ------->(Onclick) One JQuery popup(UC2)--------------->(OnClick) One Jquery popup(UC3) here UC2 is still remaining in focus and UC3 will be another Jquery popup on UC2.

Now my requirement is when i fill the Jquery popup(UC3) and click on save button in UC3, I would like to close UC3 Jquery popup and refresh the gridview inside UC2 Jquery popup without closing it.

Is this possible?(please explain the logic if found in terms of Jquery, but not in terms of normal popup windows)

WPF Window as Modal Dialog, strange behavior

Hopefully someone has a clue.... My application displays WPF Window as a modal dialog box. The dialog box has a few child user controls, one of which has combo box. When the user clicks this combo box to select... the whole dialog disappears except of the innards of the combo box. So the user only sees the list box of the combo box. Here are the details I got from the  client: The window itself is launched from non WPF application (Lotus Notes). This happens only on a few machines. The OS is Windows XP SP3. There is no issue with the parent handle, windows owner, etc... I've seen this behavior during the development phase, only when running under a debugger.    Thanks, Michael

Closing window in javascript without confirmation

Hello! I need to open a browser window without Toolbars, Status bar and Explorer bars (this means no back, refresh, ... buttons, no histiry, no nothing visible in this browser window). This is what I do: from normal browser window I open new window with all the properties I need and than I close the first window: <body>     <script type="text/javascript">  window.open('login.aspx','','toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no,status=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,                        left=0px, top=0px,width=1024, height=768');  window.close();     </script> </body> This would be OK if the first window would just close, but it doesn't. I get the confirmation window with this text: The Web page you are viewing is trying to close the window. Do you want to close this window? I don't want user to have to close the window manually. Can somebody please tell me how to close browser window without the confirmation popup? Thnx in advanced, dvale

Modal Popup Extender server side Show() does not work

Hello. Im using a modal popup extender to tell my user that the page has successfully been updated and then redirect them to a new page with the ok button. The thing is that i do NOT want this extender to fire when i press the button. I would rather call the Show() function myself. Right now i have a simple test page with a button that calls the popup extender Show() function but Nothing happens. If i set the targetID to the button it works but Im not able to call it through codebehind.

Any thoughts?

Problem Creating Server Side Javascript

I have a custom control which creates client side Javascript in order for it to function. When the property .OnSelectScript is wrapped in an if...then that tests its length, the value of .OnSelectScript appears to be ignored when the Javascript is being generated. However, when I set the .text value of a test label to Javascript, it appears there. I have confirmed that the statement *does not* appear client side when I view the source for the page.

Property declaration for the control

    Public Property OnSelectScript() As String
        Get
            Return _OnSelectScript
        End Get
        Set(ByVal value As String)
            _OnSelectScript = value
        End Set
    End Property
    Private _OnSelectScript As String

Full SUB as designed

    Protected Sub Page_Load() Handles Me.Load

        Dim ClientSideJavaScript As New StringBuilder

        LabelSelectorTitle.Text = Me.Title
        Call LoadData()

        ClientSideJavaScript.Append("/*File: Test Selector.aspx.vb Sub: Page_Load()*/" & Chr(10))
        ClientSideJavaScript.Append("function setValue(ParentPopup, TargetDisplayControl, NewDisplayValue, TargetTextboxControl, NewKeyValue) {" & Chr(10))
        ClientSideJavaScript.Append("document.getElementById(TargetDisplayControl).inn

Server Side Code Not Firing After Javascript Function

I have a group of buttons and a text box which I have been using for paging. The user is able to type a number into the text box and either click the "Go" button or hit "Enter" for the paging to occur. To have the "Enter" button work I had to turn the "UseSubmitBehavior" property to false for all of the buttons except the "Go" button.

Now I am trying to add a javascript function that shows a confirm box when the user clicks on a paging button. If the function returns true, the client side code should run. If the function returns false then nothing else should run. I have been successful with getting this to work for the "Go" button but it won't work for any of the other paging buttons because I have "UseSubmitBehavior" set to false. Can anyone think of a way to get this to work with the other buttons?

Thanks in advance for the help.

<asp:Button ID="btnFirstPage" runat="server"  Text="<<"  OnClick="PagerClicked" OnClientClick="return unsavedChanges();" UseSubmitBehavior="false" />
<asp:Button ID="btnPreviousPage" runat="server"  Text="<"  OnClick="PagerClicked" OnClientClick="return unsavedChanges();" UseSubmitBehavior="

Determine CSS class, set by javascript, server-side

 I have a website and I use javascript/jQuery to change the CSS classes associated with various controls on the page to hide and displey them based upon user selections.  I want to be able to determine the current Css class for an item on my page when the page is posted back to the server.  Is there any way to determine the current Css class for a control on the server when it's been changed using javascript client-side?

Any suggestions would be greatly apprciated.

javascript window.history.back() issue with Modal popup extender

Hi,

I have a asp.net page that has a list of items. When one of the items from the list is clicked a details page is displayed. This details page has a link button to show a popup for history of the item. The details page also has a button with text 'Back'.  The back button has onclick event set to  "javascript:window.history.back();".

This back button works fine and goes back to the first page. However when the user is on the second page and opens the pop up by clicking on the link button, the back button stop working and displays Webpage has expired message.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

Steve.
