We use an application that is using MS SQL Express 2005 as its database back-end (as seems to be the case with pretty much everything any more). We ran the application for many years, without issues and experienced a growth of about 200mb/year. Everything
ran like this fine until 2007. Between 2007 and 2008 my database quadrupled in size:
2008YE (should note here, that the database jumped in size during the year end - the year end for 2007 was ~800mb - the beginning of 2008 was where I noticed the ~3,000mb jump)
No one noticed a difference in the application (that I am aware of), instead they just began accommodating that size of a system by purchasing larger storage facility and higher end backup procedures.
I guess my question is, does this seem normal? Is there anything I can do to try and troubleshoot it and determine the actual size the database should be? We have a sister company that is running the same application, and
the data base on that side of the house has consistently ran about 200mb/year with out the large jump. When I questioned the
