Server object missing properties

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 12, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

hi, I have the following code:

(New-Object "Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.SMO.Server" "SQLCLUST-LA08P\SQLPROD2" |Get-Member -MemberType Property).Count

if I run this on my local box I get 97, but if I run it in a different box I get 33.

the two servers have the same version of SMO:

# [Reflection.Assembly]::LoadWithPartialName("Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo")

GAC    Version        Location
---    -------        --------
True   v2.0.50727     C:\WINDOWS\assembly\GAC_MSIL\Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo\9...

and I'm logged into both boxes with the same account:

# whoami
corp\caldee2

so what can the problem be?  I've googled a lot but can't find any help out there.  the list of properties returned in the "working" case is shown below:

ActiveDirectory
AuditLevel
Audits
BackupDevices
BackupDirectory
BrowserServiceAccount
BrowserStartMode

All my server-controls became unrecognized!!! like there's compilation error or web.config missing!

hi!

please help - the problem is in post subject.

I have lots of warnings with following text:

"Warning 10 Element 'HyperLink' is not a known element. This can occur if there is a compilation error in the Web site, or the web.config file is missing. C:\Users\Pavel\Documents\Visual Studio 2010\WebSites\BioWebSite\ToScientist.aspx 26 18 C:\...\BioWebSite\"

But web.confg is there! And there's no compilation error!

Site builds just fine. And If I upload it to my hoster - it works!

But with all these errors I cant add controls to pages - VS2010 adds hyperlink without ID, and intelisens stoped to work.

Strange, but in my other project (web-application) I have no such difficuty.

what is role of object properties when using client side validations ?

I have been using properties and have idea that using properties with private fields we can implement validations and buisness rules in them.

But I am just thinking asp.net client side validation controls provide good strength and they provide good user experience as well. They can be used for any type of validation (using regular expression) on client side and their re-use is possible on server side. When validation controls are a must and they are powerful; is making properties not just wastage of time ?

Is there still some use of properties ? Please guide me.

Proxy failed to create remote object on the server

Hi, I am using .net remoting for inter-process communication between two processes on the same machine 1.   The first process is one of the Office application: Ecxel /   Word /   PP 2.   The other process is another application that interacts with one of the above. For that it needs office application object. For example: Excel The solution is comprised with 3 projects: Project #1: The remote object is a simple Called RemoteOfficeApplication – that simply wraps the required application object (Word / Excel / PP).   Project #2: The Server is a simple Office add-in, written with a Visual Studio Extensibility -> Shared project. This add-in is instantiated whenever Excel is lunched. This project reference project #1. Code: var channel = new TcpChannel (5003); ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(channel, true ); RemotingConfiguration.RegisterWellKnownServiceType( typeof (RemoteOfficeApplication.RemoteOfficeApplication ), “AppObj”, WellKnownObjectMode .Singleton);   Project #3: The Client is the process that requires the application object. This project also reference project #1. Code:   //Get Remote object proxy object remoteAppObject = Activator.GetObject(typeof(RemoteOfficeApplication.RemoteOfficeApplication), “tcp://localhost:5003/AppObj" ); //Cast the proxy var r

How to check effective permissions for a user or group for a SQL server object or whole server?

Guys, How do I see effective permissions for a user or group for a SQL server object or whole server? For example, a user is not listed in security/logins, but he is a member of few groups and some of them have assigned permissions on SQL server (again either directly or through membership in other groups) Even when I select an object (a table), check properties/permission – it doesn’t let me select any principal, except those listed on security/logins… Anyway, what is the right way to see effective permissions for a user or group? Sorry for asking such a simple question, I’ve searched but found nothing relevant.

Instance and Default connection properties on SQL Server 2005

We had a sql server fail and I have been having troubles.  I compared the connection properties on the server properties and noticed that multiple default settings are no longer set.  So I'm wondering if during the failure these could have some gotten flipped.  DB's that worked all of a sudden don't work and we had to migrate to a different instance.  I have never changed any of the setings below and wonder what impact they would have if I changed them back to the default of an installed instance? ansi warning is checked ansi padding is checked ANSI NULLS is checked arithmetic abort is checked quoted identified is checked No Count is checked concat null yields null is checked Could anyone tell me how clearing these checked options will impact my db?   -- Paul Bergson MVP - Directory Services MCITP: Enterprise Administrator MCTS, MCT, MCSE, MCSA, Security+, BS CSci 2008, Vista, 2003, 2000 (Early Achiever), NT4 http://www.pbbergs.com    Twitter @pbbergs Please no e-mails, any questions should be posted in the NewsGroup This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

"Server Objects and Events" missing

Using in-line code in VS 2010 RC and I can't get the "server objects and Events" drop down to show up.Not sure if this is a bug or what...in VS 2005 / 2008 it would just appear at the top of in-line code files.  I've checked the options/settings menus and haven't found any way to enable it.

Missing server side dependencies.

I have installed MOSS2010 Beta 2; I'm running server 2008 x64 SP2.... not R2; I'm running it on a Hyper-V VM with 4 cores and 6gb of RAM allocated to it.After installing, I get the following error. I went to Central Administration > Farm-Wide Search Administrationwhich is: SearchFarmDashboard.aspx as mentioned by CJGthen I opened Search Service Application which is SearchAdministration.aspx as mentioned by CJGAfter going through these pages, I go back, ReAnalyze the problem, and reopen the Sharepoint Health Analyzer.Same error, but now the Explanation is blank. Thoughts?

SQL 2005 Server export to Foxpro fails by "default codepage missing"

Hi, I just tried to apply the foxpro driver VFPOLEDBSetup.msi to import and export an old format dbf. First of all no other method is available in this case, as one of the dbf-tables holds about 9 million rows. I don't want to (manually) go to excel and wait for 10 years importing it there, then only to discover i need another 10 years to get it into sql server.   Here's my task at hand: Source: street/housenumber database with approx 9 million rows Task:  Convert it to SQL server database (import DTS)           Change some data Export it back to DBF format. I don't have any problems acting on the first two steps (dts import to SQL 2k5 and changing data) I doooo have some problems with the last part. As soon as i define the DTS through the wizzard, it leaves the "CodePage" blank. However, upon executing it i receive some warnings and finally errors: On the "Setting Destination Connection" action in the final execution progress window: - Setting Destination Connection (Warning) Messages Warning 0x80202066: Destination - housenum [40]: Cannot retrieve the column code page info from the OLE DB provider. If the component supports the "DefaultCodePage" property, the code page from that property will be used. Change the value of the property if the current string code page values are incorrect. Hello, I'm trying to bind custom object to details view. The problem is that enum property fields are not show.Is there any way to show enum property fields in details view ?I put some example code below (I do not specify any rows mappings, they are generated dynamically because different kind of objects are bound to details view):// My object public class OrderItem { public ItemKindEnum unitemizedItemKind { get { return (ItemKindEnum)this.unitemizedItemKindID; } } ... } // Details view configuration <asp:DetailsView ID="dvOperationDetails" runat="server" DefaultMode="ReadOnly" ... />

Missing Server Side Dependencies - [MissingSetupFile]

I am using the database attach method to migrate a SharePoint 2007 environment to SharePoint 2010.   After the migration I am seeing in the health report several errors related to [MissingSetupFile] in the Missing Server Side Dependencies section. The files that are being referenced is for an old feature that was removed over a year ago from the SharePoint 2007 environment.  It appears that the uninstallation of the feature still left some hooks in the content database. One of the errors is: File [Features\MossTraining\Styles\alldaydefault_stk.gif] is referenced [1] times in the database [WSS_Content_MyOakGov], but is not installed on the current farm. Please install any feature/solution which contains this file. One or more setup files are referenced in the database As you can see it is from the MossTraining feature that was available on CodePlex.  This was installed and then ultimately uninstalled from the SP2007 environment a long time ago.   Now it has come back to haunt me.    How can I resolve this issue without having to reinstall and then attempt to uninstall the feature again?
