Populate a Data Flow Task's variables with values from a .dtsConfig file?

I have an SSIS Project to import exchange rates from an XML file into SQL. The project works when I have certain values hard-coded into variables, such as the URL of the XML File, proxy username and passwords etc. I decided to put in a .dtsConfig file, and have it update the values of the variables in the data flow task. So, one of my SSIS Packages in this solution is called ECBDailyRates.dtsx. It contains one control flow, which is a data flow task. The data flow task is a script task which does some XPATH on an XML file, and then provides outputs to an OLE DB Destination, which in turn puts the data into a table in SQL. That much worked before I put in the dtsConfig file. There are a few variables declared inside the data flow task, such as; PricesXMLUriDaily, String ProxyAddress, String ProxyAddressPort, Int32 etc. etc. These are now being updated from the dtsConfig, which is below. It was my understanding that SSIS would run through the config, and update any of the variables as required, and then run my data tasks. However when SSIS runs my script task, none of the variables have been populated, and so it falls over... as it were :) <?xml version="1.0"?> <DTSConfiguration> <DTSConfigurationHeading> <DTSConfigurationFileInfo GeneratedBy="...." GeneratedFromPackageName="dim_Institution" GeneratedFromPackageID="

data type problem in import data from excel file

Dear All,

I am importing the data from excel file using following code.

connstr = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & Server.MapPath(strFolderFileName) & ";Extended Properties=HTML Import;"
                conn = New OleDbConnection(connstr)
                Dim strSQL As String = "SELECT * FROM [" & strWorkSheetName & "]"

                Dim cmd As New OleDbCommand(strSQL, conn)

                Dim da As New OleDbDataAdapter(cmd)

Now the problem is if a coulmn vlaue start with a number value like "15" then the other string value like "W15" in that column is ignored in the datatable.

eg. The excel column value     Column1

Excel File as input paramter for Lookup Data Flow Transformation problems

Before I start, I'm using SQL 2008.

I have a Excel file with email addresses that need to acts at input parameters to a Lookup transformation. I have set the Excel Source to my file and specified the email field to be the output. I have dropped the Lookup Transformation Data Flow and connected the both. I'm going to execute a very simple stored procedure, and under the Connections section my SQL query looks like follows: EXEC Test_GetUserName ?
When I run that I get an error saying that no parameter was provided. But when I run EXEC Test_GetUserName 'someemail@companyname.com' everything executes great, for the obvious part that the email is hard coded. How do I pass the excel input as the parameter?

Thanks for all the help.

Large File upload Problem.

I have problem with large upload files. few user complianing about it that either their file fails to upload or taking 20 to 30 mins.

I setup everything correct and i check on different machine its worked fine but only few customer out of 5000 complain it. any idea about if i can check at client machine?

i set my upload limit as 100mb and properly configured and i test it but one strange thing happen, when i try to upload group of files more then 100MB (but no individual file in the group more then 100), sharepoitn let it do and i can see 300MB group of files at once with explorer view.

my understanding when you set the limit it must be for individual or group of files. any thought?

Unable to load data from txt file with text delimiter specified, if the data has the same character

Have come across a strange scenario and seeking your ideas/thoughts.

I'm using a ssis package to load a txt file. The txt file is text delimited by double quote (") and column delimited by tilde (~). It works fine in most scenarios and strips the enclosing "" from the columns -no problems there. However, in a specific scenario where the last column has double quote in the data as well being the text delimiter, the package throws the following exception indicating that it's missing a column delimiter

 The column delimiter for column "COL_NAME" was not found

This behaviour was not observed when double quotes were present as data in any other column in the file. Was able to workaround by disabled text delimiter only for the last column, but that isn't a perm solution. Also observed that if the " was replaced by escape sequence /" the file loaded successfully. Wondering if this a known issue ?

Upload odc file to RM as "text/x-ms-odc"

Using Report Manager 2008 I upload a db connection file 'odc' to the Report Server. (made by Excel)
Automatically this file gets the file type of "text/html" , after click on this uploaded file the RM shows only the upladed file name instead it should open the connection to the CUBE within excel.
Normally, (yesterday it worked correct on the same server) if I uploaded a odc file it gets the file type of : "text/x-ms-odc": and after a clikc on it I had a pivot in Excel connected to my CUBE.
Q: How to change the uploaded file type  (it worked just fine before, I do not understand)
Please help.
