How to Bind to an Object Resource Added From Code Behind?

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 12, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF

So if I do something like this in the code behind:

MyObject newObj = new MyObject;

newObj.Description = "This is a test";

How could I bind to this resource or at least access its indivudal properties? So in XAML I might have a textbox which I want to bind to the newObj's "Description" property. I found if instead of setting the resource to the entire object but just the string I could do the following:

<TextBox Text="{DynamicResource ResourceKey=resource1}"

 But I would rather set the resource to the entire object and then use "Path=/Description" for the textbox. Could someone give me an example of how this would be done? Basically, I just need to know what to do in XAML to access individual property of my resource I added.

How to bind GridView and DropDownList controls using DataTable object

In .net framework 2.0, you can load a DataTable in memory by consuming a data source using a DataReader. In this version you will find the flexibility in accessing the DataReader means write access code once and use again and again using DataReader. To see the functionality of DataTable consider an example that is created using VS2005.

Resource Leaks: Detecting, Locating, and Repairing Your Leaky GDI Code

Leaks are possible, even in robust Windows-based applications. As bugs go, leaks are some of the most difficult to find, especially when they occur in graphics device interface (GDI) objects and menus. While free and third-party tools exist to detect such leaks, it is usually difficult to make the connection between the numeric handle value returned by the tool, and a bitmap or menu in your program. This can limit the usefulness of these tools. Custom tools can be built that detect, track down, and eradicate GDI and menu leaks. Here, three such tools are built using well-known and documented APIs.

Showing Designer error for Silverlight App when trying to access resource which contains code e.Resu

Environment is: Silverlight 4, VS Studio 2010. Designer is showing error in a Silverlight App when trying to access a resource as below. And there are no build or runtime errors. Extensive research found that, in the "InvestorsProvider" class I am using wcf services, which has a callback method. In the call back method I am using this statement "this.MyProperty = e.Result" where e.Result is ObservableCollection. If I remove the e.Result it is not showing any designer problem. <UserControl.Resources> <local:InvestorsProvider x:Name="investorsProvider"></local:InvestorsProvider> </UserControl.Resources> Here is the error System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException [Async_ExceptionOccurred]Arguments: Debugging resource strings are unavailable. SharePoint Workflow : Failed to Start when a document is added to library from server-side object mo

When I add a document using my server-side object model code, I get an exception "The type or namespace name 'Office' does not exist in the namespace 'Microsoft'" in the server logs and in the library I can see the Workflow status as "Failed to Start".

Interestingly, when I add a document to the same library from sharepoint site portal, it works just fine, the workflow kicks off with the state : in-progress.

Also, I modified the task form for the Approval workflow template from SharePoint Designer using infopath.(Not sure if that be a problem as adding from portal works fine.)

What am I missing out here??

Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference in code generated by ASP.NET

I am working on converting a project from C# to VB and am facing this weird issue. 1 page cannot compile and I get the reference error, but the weird thing is that the compiler shows the error as coming from ASP.NET generated code. Visual Studio shows me that error is coming from my ASPX page. I cannot seem to figure out why or where this error is occuring. Also if I take the inherits attribute out I don't get the compilation error. The code in aspx page is below:

<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="diff.view.aspx.vb"  Inherits="MR.ControlApp.diffview" MasterPageFile="~/Site1.Master"%>

<asp:Content ID="Header1" ContentPlaceHolderID="head" runat="server">

    Page: <select onchange="sel(this);">
        Dim j As Integer = 0
        While j < pageCount
           <option <%= IIf(currentPage = ( j + 1 ), "selected", "")  %> value="<%= j+1 %>"><%= j + 1 %></option>
        <%j = j + 1
        End While
    <% 'Print(); %>

Items added through Javascript to a dropdownlist are not accessible through code behind

Hi All,

I am successfully able to add new items to a drop down list using Javascript.

The script I am using is

            ddlDeliveryVan = document.getElementById("DropDownList1");
            var opt = document.createElement("option");

DataBinding not updating underlying business object when changing control property from code

I have a custom data form control that in code generates databindings between the selected custom business object (LLBL) and the various controls on the screen. Everything works in that I set the DataContext to the selected business object and the data appears in the GUI. If the user changes anything on screen, the data is getting updated into the business object.

However, now I have some custom logic that when the user presses a button I need to update some fields. Currently I'm setting this data directly into the controls, setting the new value into the property that is bound. However, the data is not getting pushed back into the business object.  I had this same issue building WinForm apps in that databinding only fired if the user was in the control and left it.

Does the same thing apply to WPF? How can I get ANY change on say a TextBox's Text property whether via user interaction or from C# code to push that value into the bound business object property?

How to Bind ExpressionTextBox to my class object in ActivityDesigner?

I am just learning WF so this may be a easy question to answer.

I have a custom code activity, AddJobToQueue that takes as input arguments a MessageQueue and a JobTicket. JobTicket is my custom class from a separate library (added as a Reference).

In trying to create an custom activity designer for my activity, I have hit a snag. My activity designer uses two ExpressionTextBoxes for the two input arguments. I was able to get the binding correct for the MessageQueue, but I cannot determine how to get the binding for my custom class.

My current XAML is this:

<sap:ActivityDesigner x:Class="QueueActivityLibrary.AddJobToQueueDesigner"  xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation"
