Listview selecteditem binding to textbox causing problems

Hi,

I have listview and i have binded the listview selected item to a grid's datacontext. The grid contains a text box whose text property is bound to one of the columns in the listview. I have Add, Edit and Delete buttons to manipulate data in the listview.

Problem:

Whenever i change the selected item in the listview the text in the textbox is changing. Since by default the binding is two way if i edit the data in the textbox it is reflectedi in the listview. But upon clicking on the cancel button the textbox value is not reverted back to old value. The list view itemsource is bound to an object of the class BindingListCollectionView

Code in button click event where BindingDetails is object of calss BindingListCollectionView. But this code does not rollback the changes in the textbox.

btnCancel_Click(object sender, EventArgs E)
{
  if(IsEdit == true)
  {
     BindingDetails.CancelEdit();
          BindingDetails.Refres();<br/>
  }
}

I tried the following things.

problems with using jQuery for reordering groups on an ascx page

Hi all. im making a page that has its header, its footer, and its side menus all in seperate controls (ascx pages).  The reason is so i don't have to rewrite that code for every single page when only the inner content will be different.

In my Menu control there is a list of items that gets populated when the page loads from a database.  The items have an order in the database and i want to be able to reorder them by dragging and dropping.  I am using jQuery and the actual physical drag and drop is working but i am having trouble getting the new order to save in the database... atleast when it is on the ascx page.

It works when the menu is on the aspx page.

In my events.aspx page i have

<div id="contentLeft">
<asp:Repeater ID="FormGroupList" runat="server">
    <HeaderTemplate>
        <ul>
    </HeaderTemplate>
    <ItemTemplate>
        <li id="<%#Eval("FormGroupID")%>" class="itemStyle">
            <a class="active" href="fields.aspx?fg=<%#Eval("SectionHeading")%>"><%#Eval("SectionHeading")%></a></li>

Package Configuration causing problems with Oracle Connection

Hi All,

Scenario:

We need to import the data from Oracle 10g database to SQL Server 2005 database.

Solution Picked:

In order to accomplish the above, we used SQL Server Integration Services along with Business Intelligence Developer Studio.

Details:

Base Details:

There are around 17 packages, each retrieving data from Oracle and storing into SQL Server based on current date. Following are the steps used:

  1. Get current date from SQL Server [Execute SQL Task].
  2. Create Query based on date obtained from step (1) [Script Task].
  3. Based on query obtained from step (2). Inside a [Data Flow Task] following sub actions are performed:

    Actions performed in [Data Flow Task]

  1. Retrieve data from Oracle database using query through [OLE DB Source].
  2. Perform any data modifications to correct the data [Derived Column].
  3. Store data in SQL Server [OLE DB Destination].
  4. Rejections are saved in text file [Flat File Destination].

Null value causing problems in variables populated from table during fetch

Hi,

I have some tsql that interates through a table, pulls the column values from the table into variables and then uses these variables to construct another variable to use as the @body parameter for an email.

The code works perfectly as long as all the columns in the table have values however, if any are null then the variable is not constructed and the body of the email is blank.

How can I deal with the fact that there will always be some columns in my table that are null?

Checkbox click event problems when using jQuery Safari Checkbox plugin

Hello friends!

On my page are 1 checkbox and 1 hidden label and 1 hidden panel. With the help of forum member raghav_khunger I've managed to write the code which shows panel and label when checkBox is checked. I've also added the code which is checking on every page post back the status of checkbox and hide/show panel and label appropriately. This is working fine.

However when I add jQuery Safari checkbox plugin (http://widowmaker.kiev.ua/checkbox/) problems appear.

Looks like the code which is handling click event is doing reverse thing: when panel and label should be hidden are shown. I can change this but then there would be problems because of the second part of the code which is checking checkbox on page load. So when I check the checkbox nothing happens. I must uncheck it and label and panel appears. But if panel is uncheck the label and panel would be hidden because on next page load (when user clicks button next).

As I said before the same code is working fine and it's test in all browsers (IE,FF,O,S,C). Maybe there is problem with checkbox plugin since it's in beta version.

<script type="text/javascript">
        $(function pageLoad() {
            var $chk = $('input:checkbox[id$=chckBoxGrp]');
            $(function ()

GridView Confirmation Box Using JQuery BlockUI in asp.net

JQuery is the most popular JavaScript library. One of the main reasons for its fame is the plugin architecture. Anyone can create a separate library that leverage the JQuery library. In this article we are going to look at the BlockUI library which is used to block the user screen while performing a task.

jQuery $(document).ready() and ASP.NET Ajax asynchronous postback

Many call it the ASP.NET jQuery postback problem, but using the technique below should make it no problem anymore. $(document).ready() isn't called after an asynchronous postback. What this means? You lose the functionality that should be executed within $(document).ready() after an UpdatePanel rendered its contents after an asynchronous postback.

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

Making Ajax Callbacks to the Server Using jQuery with ASP.NET

In the first part of this article series I introduced jQuery's functionality and how it provides a rich client side programming model. This time around I'll expand on these concepts and show you how you can use jQuery in combination with ASP.NET using it as an AJAX backend to retrieve data. I'll also discuss how you can create ASP.NET controls and otherwise interact with jQuery content from ASP.NET pages in WebForms.

jQuery is just a JavaScript library so it will work seamlessly with ASP.NET both from page code as well as through backend driven code using the Page.ClientScript object or ScriptManager. You can use jQuery on its own as a client side and Ajax library that communicates with ASP.NET or you can use jQuery in combination with ASP.NET AJAX. The two actually complement each other quite well as jQuery provides functionality that the ASP.NET AJAX library does not and vice versa. For the most part the interaction between the two libraries is trouble free except for a few very rare edge cases.

Displaying Row Details Tooltip on GridView using JQuery

Continuing exploring JQuery! I decided to implement a feature to display some kind of details related to a row displayed on GridView. For example when displaying employees details on GridView some information might not fit in the GridView because it will make it huge and wide. These infomration can be diplayed as Tooltip. Or when you want to display a picture and some kind of formated text to be diplayed as tooltip when mouse hover on the image.

jQuery: Highlight Gridview Rows with Checkbox

Im learning and experimenting with jQuery and ASP.NET. Below is a simple solution I created to highlight rows in a gridview by clicking on a checkbox next to the row.

Gridview setup:

Using jQuery with ASP .NET

With that, JQuery is officially embraced by ASP.NET.

A brief introduction of JQuery

jQuery is the star among the growing list of JavaScript libraries. A few of its characteristics are light-weight, cross-browser compatibility and simplicity. A common task that sometimes takes 10 lines of code with traditional JavaScript can be accomplished with jQuery in just one line of code. For example, if you want to dress up a table with an ID mytable with alternative color for every other row, you can simple do this in jQuery.

Sortable GridView using jQuery's TableSorter

This article explains how to use jQuery's plug-in Tablesorter to implement client-side sorting in an ASP.NET GridView. This comes in handy especially when an ObjectDataSource is used with a GridView as GridView does not provide sorting out of the box.

Sorting Gridview using Jquery with ASP.NET

I want to show how to sorting a gridview using a Jquery in ASP.NET, it is a flexible client-side table sorting. We have known that Jquery is a new kind of Javascript Library. You can find detail of Jquery in this site http://jquery.com/ there are lot of example with documentation and also allow free download a latest version.

GridView Parent Child View with JQuery Effects

I was just checked how to add some more cool effects to the GridView control using JQuery. In this post I will display parent-child data in the GridView control with some help of the wonderful JQuery library.

Let's first populate the GridView control.
