Unable to access default.aspx page

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 12, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

When I was testing the use of some of the web parts available to some user's web page, I created a web part to list the content of some document librabry we have.

When I was editing the web part's <Actual View>, on the "Folders" category I chose the "Show this view" as "Folder of the content type", "Sent Letters" (example).

As soon as I pressed OK I was redirected to the home page of that content type list.

I tried to return to site's the Home Page by pressing the Home Page button and event typing the URL http://servername/default.aspx but I keep being redirected to the document list I chose for the web part.

This only happens to the user wich created the troublelling web part.

How can I reset the home page of that user?

Please help

Error: Access Denied on default.aspx and other pages of existing and new sites

Hi, since today we can't access the project portals of all our projects (Visual Studio TFS 2008/sharepoint admin 3.0 running on esx 4.0). I already checked every possible security settings, they're all OK. I also tried creating a new site but I can't access the site. I can however access all the settings. For example when I try to access: http://server/Sites/Profel I get the "Error: Access Denied" message and the browser is redirected to http://server/Sites/Profel/_layouts/AccessDenied.aspx?Source=http%3A%2F%2Fserver%2FSites%2FProfel%2Fdefault%2Easpx I have no problem navigating to: http://server/sites/Profel/_layouts/settings.aspx and I can go to al lot of pages, but when I want to create something like a calendar I can specify the parameters but when I click the create button I get the same error. http://server/Sites/Profel/_layouts/AccessDenied.aspx?Source=http%3A%2F%2Fserver%2FSites%2FProfel%2FLists%2Ftest%2Fcalendar%2Easpx&Type=list&name=%7B46CB3B46%2DD0F6%2D47F5%2DBA1A%2D3C9654A24A8E%7D I already tried this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926642  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896861/en-us but no success Any help is welcome, Greetz, Peter

How to access child(.ascx) page control from parent page(.aspx) javascript

I have functionality to select All check boxes on grid rows.

Child User control is having grid with checkbox to select all rows of grid. I want to select individual cell html from each row when I select all rows when checkbox 'select all' is clicked and place it into textbox which is in Parent page.

This textbox can only be in parent page.

So i need to call child(.ascx) page control from parent page(.aspx) using javascript as follows.

function CheckUncheckChildren(event)
        var childChkBoxes = document.getElementById('<%=gvUserDetails.ClientID %>').getElementsByTagName("input");
        var childChkBoxCount = childChkBoxes.length;
        var evtelem = (isIE())?event.srcElement:event.currentTarget;
        if(evtelem.checked == true)
            for(var i = 0; i<childChkBoxCount; i++)

MOSS 2007 - Only site Collection Administrators can access Default.aspx

I have MOSS 2007, and there is a strange problem: on Default.aspx page can access only site Collection Administrators. Other users take this access denied message:

Error: Access Denied

Current User

You are currently signed in as: domain**\user**

Sign in as a different user

Request access

On other pages they can access, by example on http://portal/_layouts/settings.aspx other users can access(if they have these rights).

Other users are members of Owners Group(Root site > People and Groups > Home Owners(in "Group Settings" there is Full Control checkbox).
They are also added to Site Settings > Permissions directly with Full Control. no effect.

I think it is very strange, it looks like some permissions for root page are broken..

How to execute WebService asmx link from Default.aspx page link using HTTPRequest and HTTPResponse?

Hi Community

    I have spent a couple of days on this one.  I have an ASP.NET website that has Linkbuttons on
the Default.aspx page..  I added a WebService to the Website because later on the WebService will
subscribe to a Provider(Feed) of News, Sports and Weather and things like that.  So when a Linkbutton
on the Default.aspx page is clicked it will connect to the link in the WebService which will load the News,
Sports or Weather onto  the Default.aspx web page.

    The problem is I can't get the LinkButton to execute the Link in the WebService.  The link will call the page up
to where you see all of the Web References.  But then if you want to execute one of those references you
have to click its link and the Invoke button that will follow. My questioh is how can the link on my Default.aspx
page execute the link in the WebService.  Now I changed the LinkButton into an <a href> but I still can't execute
the link in the WebServices.  I always use www.Microsoft.com as the link when testing and I wasn't sure about the return type
so I put "void" for an HTTPRequest,  so below is the link from the Default.aspx web page and below that is he asm

default ASPX Publishing page will not restore to previous version

I have inherited a MOSS farm that has a semi customized front page on it's publishing portal. One of the customizations is a bamboo web part that someone did something to to cause it to change the font on it to white and collapse if it had no information in it. I restored this whole site collection to a test area in a separate application pool so that I could work on it without disturbing any other users.  The Bamboo licensing broke in this web application even though the farm is licensed. I was just going to ignore that for now and concentrated on adding some web parts controlled by audiences. I got the web parts in and reacting to the correct audience but then I screwed around with it long enough to break it.

Now the customized Bamboo does not collapse and is stuck showing it's error message about the licensing, and I am unable to change the height of other web parts although I am able to change the width.

So (and here is the real problem) I thought that I would just restore a previous version of the page and try again after I got the licensing with Bamboo all straightened out. But I cannot get this page to restore an old version.

First when I was on the page showing all of the versions for this page and I would choose an older version it would complain that I had to check out the page before making any changes. SO I check out the page and return

How to access SQL-Server with in aspx page

this is probably a dummy question, but I didn't find a tutorial working for me after searching for some time now.

I'm playing with a small web project and can successfully use a connectionstring from a website.config in eg. a GridView.

Now I have the need to access this connection string from some custom VB code.

What I found so far is, that I need somthing like this (at least I guess so):

Dim connstring as string
  connstring = ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings("myconnectionstring1")

Now how do I execute any kind of SQL-code against this connection?

In this current case I need to run something like "delete from schedules where startdate<getDate() -10"

But basically could also be a query like "select * from schedules" and then checking the values or whatsoever...

Please someone help me or even a link to a easy understandable guide would help.

error.aspx page reports that Page.MasterPageFile = ~/masterurl/default.master not ~/_layouts/simple.

This one is driving me nuts.

I'm intercepting Pages using HTTPModules so that I can change the Master Page before the page loads. This works as expected on everything except error.aspx in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\LAYOUTS folder. Despite the fact that error.aspx specifies MasterPageFile="~/_layouts/simple.master" I keep getting Page.MasterPageFile = ~/masterurl/default.master instead!

Anybody know why this is the case?

How to set in Visual Studio Startup Page other than Default.aspx?

Is there any opportunity to change it in Visual Studio - not in IIS?

Cannot access pages using /_layouts//.aspx

I have a development server on which we have implemented a number of application pages. We can access these using the url format:

Cannot access pages using http:/<site>/_layouts/<folder>/<page>.aspx

This also works for subsites:

Cannot access pages using http:/<site>/<subsite>/_layouts/<folder>/<page>.aspx

Now I am trying to implement these pages on our production server and I am getting file does not exist errors. Any thoughts on why this might be?

Unable to access Site page having data from web part after restoring it to another server

I am trying to restore site backup to another server using following powershell cmdlet:

  • import-spweb -identity siteurl -path abc.cmp

Before starting restore I have created the site with template same as present on source server. After executing the command it did not displayed any error in the Management shell window. When I checked the log file it displayed 127 warnings and 1 error as follows:

  • Error: List Images could not be imported because it uses the DocumentLibrary base template and the destination uses the 851 base template.
  • Warning: User or group 18080 cannot be resolved.

When I am trying to access the page of the page library it is navigating to error page. This page contains Data form web part which is referencing the lists in the site. In the ULS logs I found following error:

  • PermissionMask check failed. asking for 0x00000005, have 0x400000300C231061

I tried follwoing resolution steps:

  • Provided the Full permission to the current user through which am accessing the site.

Still I am not able to fix the issues. Can anybody please guide me what would be the cause of these errors and what could be the resolution.

WSS 3.0 Timer Error "6398" are getting generated 1 per minute.Unable to access Search Settings Page

Dear All
We are facing a terrible error which keeps getting generated exactly one per minute and i cant access Search Settings page as well.
I have already tried whats defined in the article below.
After that the errors stopped generating.
But after few hours they started generating again. Iam assuming its because the timer job didn't executed during that period.
We have two servers. One is MOSS and the other is Database Server with SSRS in Sharepoint integrated mode therefoew it is also a web front end server.
I have configured MOSS Server for everything i.e. as Index Server, Executing Search Queries etc. "Is this Ok? or can i use SSRS Web Front End Server as Dedicated server for indexing / All WFE Servers for indexing"
I am using SharePoint Farm administrator as search service account. Same user is used for all other services as well.
I have changed the "Indexed files path" but given full access and files are getting generated in it.
