Top nav tabs visible to people without rights

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 12, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I have a site in a collection that was created with unique permissions, but did inherite the top link bar from parent.  The site has a members groups and an owners group. It was my understanding that ONLY people in those two groups would see the top navigation tab, but this is not proving to be true for this site. Did I do something wrong at site creation?  Is there anything I can do about it now?  This is really important that not all tabs are displayed or we are going to have a usability issue with very wide pages of horizontal scrolling.
There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what your are trying to accomplish.

Other people names are not visible for anybody but farm admin

SharePoint 2007-SQL 2005 medium farm. One web application for all user sites.

The problem is the user can see only their own name, and not any one else in the created by and modified by columns. The behavior started last week and crawled to all site collections . All site collections are in their own database with their own users. I could fix the problem by export and import to their own site. But that did not work for the root site collection. I found that Taxonomy could be corrupted, but, I am not able to find the taxonomy list. http://siteURL/Lists/TaxonomyHiddenList/AllItems.aspx I get "the webpage cannot be found"

I copied this root site database and reloaded in Staging environment. The root came up with the same abnormality.

Problem appears for all new list and

System.IO.Packaging is not visible

I am new to ASP.net, I installed VS2005 and IIS 5 on my PC and set up my first website using IIS (not the embedded webserver in VS).

For some reason I cannot find the Assembly: "System.IO.Packaging", please let me know if I am allowed to use it in that medium and how can I reference it?

Thanks in advance.

Resource File: Windows Media 9 Series Digital Rights Management

If you have an application that handles Windows Media content and you need an effective way to track content usage, Windows Media 9 Series now offers Digital Rights Management (DRM). It allows you to take advantage of the peer-to-peer distribution model and still redirect users back to your app once they have downloaded your content (prior to viewing).

Security in .NET: Enforce Code Access Rights with the Common Language Runtime

Component-based software is vulnerable to attack. Large numbers of DLLs that are not tightly controlled are at the heart of the problem. Code access security in the Common Language Runtime of the Microsoft .NET Framework addresses this common security hole. In this model, the CLR acts as the traffic cop to assemblies, keeping track of where they came from and what security restraints should be placed on them. Another way the .NET Framework addresses security is by providing preexisting classes which have built-in security. These are the classes that are invoked in .NET when performing risky operations such as reading and writing files, displaying dialog boxes, and so on. Of course, if a component calls unmanaged code, it can bypass code access security measures. This article covers these and other security issues.

Ajax tabs within tab

Is there a possibilities to create ajax tab within a ajax tab?

Pls advise.

What is the best way to create user account for big group of people?

I need to create individual account for a big group of people (around 200) from an Excel spreadsheet. What is the best practice? It will take too much time to create account using web form. I think there must be a way to do it. Please advice. I tried to use Stored procedures created by ASP.NET. NOT SURE whether it is a good idea.

Separate sessions in browser tabs together with an ajax enabled web site

I want my tabs in my browser to have separate sessions. I  was told to use

<sessionState mode="InProc" cookieless="UseUri"></sessionState> in web.config

but when I read about it here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/h6bb9cz9(v=VS.100).aspx

the text says "When you configure an AJAX-enabled ASP.NET Web site, use only the default value of UseCookies for the cookieless attribute. Settings that use cookies encoded in the URL are not supported by the ASP.NET AJAX client script libraries."

I'm using Ajax so are there any ideas what I can do about this problem.

Filter People search

Is it possible to filter people searches?  For example, remove users with a certain last name?

Using tabs from the AjaxControlToolkit causes error: ...control contains code blocks (i.e. <% ... %>

I'm getting the error:

The Controls collection cannot be modified because the control contains code blocks (i.e. <% ... %>).

When attempting to add the tabs from the AjaxControlToolkit.  A little background..Theres an existing aspx page in a microsite which used the accordion control and the tabbed control ...I need to modify this page to use a different masterpage.

The original site was .Net Framework 2.0 and the page in question used AjaxControlToolkit 1.0. which I manually installed originally.  Some of the site has been further developed using the .Net Framework 3.5.  (Come with AjaxControlToolkit) Now I have come to update this aspx page and I get the error above.

I have narrowed the down to the TabContainer (I think)  Does anyone have any experience with this sort of problem?  Also what version of the AjaxControlToolkit should be with the .Net Framework 3.5? I have 1.0.20229.20821.

I also tried to browse to the AjaxControlToolkit.dll to add the tools to the tool box as they're missing... thinking this may be an indicator as to why it wasn't working. I get the error: 'There was an error loading types from assembly C:\inetpub\wwwroot\project\Bin\AjaxControlToolkit.dll Could not load file or assembly 'System.Web.Extensions. Version=
