httpRuntime executionTimeout value not applied

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 12, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I'm working on Windows 2008R2 with IIS 7.5. In web.config there is config value:

httpRuntime executionTimeout="90"

Now, web request calls WCF service, which is very time consuming (timeouts for WCF are set to 5minutes). Whilst waiting for WCF to finish, web application throws exception:

Exception Type:        System.Web.HttpException
Exception Message:     Request timed out.
Exception Source:
Exception Target Site: Target Site unavailable

As far as I make it out, it's exception caused by exceeding 90seconds limit. But... I get that exception after about 150seconds. Is it common that request doesn't break instantaneously?

I did some tests:

- set executionTimeout

Why do the aks master pages not get applied if the feature is not activated on the top site collecti

I installed AKS 2.0 and activated AKS feature. The problem I found was the aks master pages do not get applied if the feature is not activated on the top site collection. why is so?

example: If i activate the feature on http://<servername>/sites/<sitename> and apply the master page, I dont see any changes.

              But if i activate the same aks feature on http://<servername/ then everything started working on all sites.

              The reason i found is the CSS reference in the aks master pages.

              It reference should be given as follows:

                 for http://<servername>/sites/<sitename> ->  <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="../../Style%20Library/AKS/Aks_Band_Blueband.css"/>

                 for http://<servername>/ -><link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="/Style%20Library/AKS/Aks_Band_Blueband.css"/>

So my question is, am i missing anything? am i supposed to activate the AKS feature on top level site collection at any cost? if yes, why is so?

And after applying aks master pages, i see differnece in font sizes. Why the font size is getting changed?

In a style template, express a property in terms of the controls properties it is applied to.

Hello,   In the style template below, which works fine, I'd like to express the "Points" property in terms of the applied to controls "Width" and "Height" properties.  As you see, the "Fill" property is expressed in terms of the "Background" property the template is applied to by means of Fill="{TemplateBinding Background}".  The following does not work:   Points="0,({TemplateBinding Height} / 4)  ({TemplateBinding Width} / 12.5),({TemplateBinding Height} / 4) . . ."   Is what I'm looking for possible, all in XAML, no code/converters? <Style x:Key="FolderButton" TargetType="Button"> <Setter Property="Margin" Value="2.5" /> <Setter Property="Template"> <Setter.Value> <ControlTemplate TargetType="{x:Type Button}"> <Grid> <Polygon Fill="{TemplateBinding Background}" Stroke="{TemplateBinding BorderBrush}" Points="0,5 4,5 6,0 23,0 25,5 50,5 50,20 0,20"/> <ContentPresenter HorizontalAlignment="Center" VerticalAlignment="Center"/> </Grid> </ControlTemplate>

doesn't work (using IIS 6.0)

HiI'm getting errors with an application on our test web server, which has .NET 4.0 installed, when I input HTML into a form.  I get the usual errors of:A potentially dangerous Request.Form value was detected from the clientThis is being caused by the change in .NET 4.0 that disables switching off automatic validation for HTML input.I can fix this on my local development machine by adding the <httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0" /> directive to the <system.web> section of my root web.config, and .NET then honours the <pages validateRequest="false" /> directive that's in the same root web.config.  Strangely, I needed to restart IIS on my local machine (which is version 5.1) for this change to work.When I deploy the root web.config to our test server however, I'm still getting the validation errors.  I've tried using run > iisreset, stopping and starting IIS (which is version 6.0 on the test server), and I've even restarted the server to fully clear out .NET.  My application is definitely picking up the new root web.config (I've tested this), however the <httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0" /> directive seems to just be ignored.My application is configured as a  .NET 4.0 application on both my local machine and on the test server.  I've tried rebuilding the a

Navigation settings not applied when site created from template?

Hi, I created a customized site on MOSS and disabled Quick Launch and enabled Tree View on it. But when I create new site from this template it has Quick Launch enabled and Tree View disabled. I downloaded the STP file and looked inside and in the details <Details> ... <EnableTreeView>1</EnableTreeView> <EnableQuickLaunch>0</EnableQuickLaunch> ... </Details> Does anyone have a clue why it does not work correctly? Does this work for you correctly?

I have defined a new master page and set it as default for the main site.  Any time I create a new subsite it does not apply the new master page and defaults back to the default.master.  The Site Master Page Settings shows this error. The site master page setting currently applied to this site is invalid. Please select a new master page and apply it The system master page setting currently applied to this site is invalid. Please select a new master page and apply it. Now if I select "Inherit site master page from parent of this site" and "Inherit system master page" and click ok the site will use the new master page and everything is fine.  There is only one modification to the master page that was done so I know the master page isn't invalid.  Does anyone know the answer other than recreating the new master page.

Missing fields when filter applied

Hello all, I hope someone can help as I can't figure it out!I shall try my best to explain. I have a report to show all sales quotes by status code (first group), then by Category code (2nd Group) and then by sales quote (3rd group) for the first 2 groups there is a coulmn to show no. of quotes using a CountDistinct expression. My issue is as follows, when running the report by month (Jan, Feb then Mar etc) and taking the total number of quotes for each month and adding them up manually gives a different total when running the report for alll months together (Jan-Mar). For example: Month      No. of Quotes (this is calculated using CountDistinct so not sure if this is the problem?) Jan:          10 Feb:          11 Mar:          8 Total:        29 When run for Jan-Mar I get a total of 25. Looking at the lines there are quotes missing (when running the report for all (Jan-Mar)) but when run by month the quotes appear?

SQL*Server 2008 SP1 applied but still tries to download and install from Windows Update

I had previously posted this on the windows update forum and was advised here was more appropriate. I have installed SQL*Server Express 2008 on laptop with windows7 and appled the SP1 update. This shows as applied correctly when looking at programs/updates from control panel, update logs. The management console confirms version 10.1.2531 is running. Each time I use windows update  the service pack is listed as needing download / install - the same KB968369 is given as the reference. I have run this a couple of times but the update is shown as outstanding each time. Any ideas how to resolve this? Thanks Colin

HttpRuntime.Cache problem

I'm using the code below (a shortened version as a test). It is invoked on application start and collects data for use by the individual sessions.  The problem I'm having is it doesn't work on one machine but is fine on the other Is using .Clone the correct way of caching or is that the cause of my problems?   Public Shared Sub LoadGroups()                  Dim arrGroups As New ArrayList          for i = 1 to 100               arrGroups.Add("test" & i) Next        HttpRuntime.Cache("Groups") = arrGroups.Clone       Thread.Sleep(2000)  End Sub

How to detect high contrast theme applied or not

I am working in VB.Net 2010, framework 2.0. I want to theme my application and I want to detect that high contrast theme is applied or not. I am using "Microsoft.Win32.SystemEvents.UserPreferenceChanged" events but exactly how to know which theme applied?. In the event of "Microsoft.Win32.SystemEvents.UserPreferenceChanged", controls many times after changing the event and so it is becoming difficult to know which theme is applied. Can anyone please tell me the exact way to know high contrast theme is applied or not???   Thanks in advance.

Saving Document With Column items applied via excel macro

I have an excel macro that pulls data down from columns within worksheets that will take an excel spreadsheet and save it as a PDF file into seperate folders based off criteria set in the files. Getting the files into the proper directory is not the problem i'm having. When the script executes it saves the documents directly to our sharepoint site, but the custom columns A B C D etc are all blank and some are 'required' items which sets the document as checked out until i go into the list and enter the required data. Is there anyway to make this macro export as PDF and set the required data for me in the sharepoint column so it checks the documents in for me? I'm figuring this is a simple set of meta datatags but I don't know the syntax for them and I didn't find anything like this on the forum anywhere else. ActiveSheet.ExportAsFixedFormat Type:=xlTypePDF, Filename:= _ "http://DirectoryStructureHere/corporate%20BoFi/pdfs/" & NewFileName & ".pdf" _ , Quality:=xlQualityStandard, IncludeDocProperties:=True, IgnorePrintAreas _ :=False, OpenAfterPublish:=False 'Exports the print area as a PDF document named the new filename "Modified: to sharepoint"
