Browser display incorrectly

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 12, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have a DetailsView control with width set to 540px and it displays fine in Firefox, Google Crhome, Opera, and Safari but NOT in Internet Explorer version 8? The problem is, 540px is too wide for IE to display on the space that's available. However, in other browser, it's looking fine. Since 540px is two wide for IE, if I dropped to 530px, then it works in IE. Why is IE taking 10 extra pixels to display a DetailsView control? How do I fix this?

IDragSource bug over a hidden (display:none) table row with IE browser

I'm currently trying to create an Extender to move Gridview row order. Some of they are hidden by setting their property display to 'none'.Because the gridview act like a treeview with node that can be expanded or collapsed. From there all is well working, except with Internet explorer !Here is the problem :    When hiding a row, the drag operation works properly until the mouse reach a row having one or more preceding row hiddens.I create a some code to reproduce the bug.    1 - Open the sample in Internet Explorer and try dragging rows. You will then notice that all is well working.    2 - Now, click on the button "Toggle rows display" and retry dragging row 1 over the row 10. You will notice that when the mouse reach the row 5,          the drag operation stuck on the header of the table.    Now open the sample in FireFox, Google Chrome, Safari and repeat the same operation. You will notice that all is well working.ASPX Page :<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Test3.aspx.cs" Inherits="Test3" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml&

Thanks a lot

GridView inline Master/Detail record display

This code drop is part of a smash and grab series. If you're in a rush, you can just grab this code and insert it into your application, no understanding is required. When you have some time (ya, right) you may want to review the source code.

Display Related Data in an ASP.NET GridView

Typically when you display a datagrid you will want to show data from a related table. There are 3 different ways to accomplish this with NetTiers. You can use a custom stored procedure, deepload functionality from the code behind, or a strongly typed datasource control. We'll provide an example of each

How to setup a Mobile Browser Emulator in Windows Mobile 6:

In the following tutorial, I cover the process of Setting up Windows Mobile 6 for Mobile Browser Emulation using the Microsoft Device Emulator. This enables a user to experience Windows Mobile 6 on a PC via Emulation without even owning a Windows Mobile 6 product. It can be a great way to test drive Windows Mobile 6 before purchasing a product with it installed. In our case, it allowed us to Emulate Windows Mobile Browsing so that we could optimize our sites for the Mobile viewing audience. Installation and Emulation is simple and fairly straight forward.

*.axd script references not being rendered to browser

I'm running VS2010 with .net 4.0, and am running into issues with the .net ajax script tags mysteriously not being rendered to the browser.

So far I've reduced it to a scenario where I set the DataSourceID property of a databound control.  More specifically, I've only tested it on a Gridview and a DropDownList.

This can be reproduced fairly easily on my machine by following these steps:

1. Create a new empty Web Application Project

2. Create a new Web Form

3. Add a ScriptManager inside the form

4. Add a DropDownList and a DataSource (I used an ObjectDataSource)

5. Set the DataSourceID property of the DropDownList to the ID of the DataSource.  This can be done either declaratively on the .aspx page, or in the code behind in the aspx.cs page, and both produce the same results.

6. Open the page in a browser and watch as you get a javascript error stating "Sys is not defined" and notice that the page source contains no script tags referencing *.axd scripts.

Here's my source code showing my set up:

<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.cs" Inherits="ScriptResourceFAIL.Default" %>

divs do not display side by side

I have two divs. I want them to display side by side, on the same row. Using display:inline-block I can do that. But as soon as I position some text in the bottom right corner of div1, the two divs do not have the same vertical position. They are side by side, but the 2nd div starts at the vertical position of the positioned text in the 1st div.   Why would it do that?  Both Chrome and IE8 render it the same way.

( I am doing the nesting of the divs on the left side so that I can position absolutely within a div and not the page. I can't get text to position in the lower right corner of a div any other way. )

  <div style="border:2px solid black;">

Display column from child table. Possible ?

I'am using dnamic entity with EF4. On a list page of a table, I would like to display a column containing information from a child table of the current element. Sample :

Order List :

Order Data | Required Date | Shipped Date | etc... | ... | Customer Name (foreign key with tostring() method override) | Customer Postal Code (Column that I want to add) |

I don't known how to do that. Is it possible ? Maybe I have to to create my own Metadata proxy that will add dynamicly a column on the MetaColumn list of the table.

Does someone have an easier or better idea ?

Thank you for any help.
