I have to setup two databases in different geographical locations that are linked through VPN. These databases are development databases so quite frequently they will have changes to the structure itself. Actually, for these databases, the data
is less important than the structural changes. Due to latency between the two locations, it is not practical to have all developers going off one database. However, both of these databases need the structural changes synched with each other.
I tried mirroring but that essentially puts one databases offline so its not real useful. I looked into replication but from what i saw, it seems to be good at replicating known database objects which will not always be the case with developmental
databases since they do add new objects. Does anyone know if i am missing something in configuring replication. I am far from being an expert at it.
I looked at backup/restore briefly but that simply isnt real practical. I am trying to keep the two databases in synch, especially for database object changes and the addition of new database objects but havent really found a good solution among
those i listed. Is there a better solution for a case like this or am i just missing some configuration options in one those i listed?
