Filtering on multiple items is disabling custom drill through actions

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 12, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I am using Excel 2007 to connect to a SQL Server 2008 Analysis Services database.

I have defined a drill-through action that it works perfectly through Excel when I have selected only item selected in a filter in the pivot table. However, when I select multiple values in the filter the action doesn't even show up on right clicking and going to the Actions menu item.  The Actions menu item is disabled.

Is this an Excel bug?   Is there another way to set up the SSAS Action?  Why would selecting multiple items in a filter affect a drilldown action?

Smart Tags: Simplify UI Development with Custom Designer Actions in Visual Studio

Windows Forms 2.0 components expose smart tags by utilizing Designer Actions. By taking advantage of this feature, you can add smart tags to your own custom components to make setting their properties and other actions much easier and developer-friendly.

Deleting items from the index (custom protocol handler)

I created a custom protocol handler. I successfully emit entries into the index. I just can't seem to delete them during an incremental crawl.

I tried:

1. no emitting child item during the enumeration of child entries in a folder
2. returning PRTH_E_OBJ_NOT_FOUND from CreateAccessorEx

doing either 1, 2, or both did nothing. The entries are still there.

what i need to do to delete these entries from the index during an incremental crawl?

Custom Filtering

I write a custom StringFilter to use as filter control for string properties, I use bellow code to "GetQueryable" method :

    public override IQueryable GetQueryable(IQueryable source)
        string selectedValue = TextBox1.Text;
        if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(selectedValue))
            return source;

        object value = selectedValue;
        if (DefaultValues != null)
            DefaultValues[Column.Name] = value;

        return ApplyEqualityFilter(source, Column.Name, value);
the disatvantage of this method is user must enter whoul string to find...
can any body help me to change this method to work such as sql "Like" method instead of equality ?

How do you create a custom BDC data field that allows for multiple selected values?

I need help creating a custom data field using the BDC column as a base.  We need to allow for multiple selected values instead of just a single one.  I can't find anything on the net which shows how to do this.

WCF Multiple Custom Assemblies in IIS7

Hi, I have a WCF service library that references a few sub-assemblies.  As an example, I have a service layer assembly and a business layer assembly.  When I attempt to deploy into an IIS 7 host, I keep getting the error: assembly 'business layer' could not be loaded.  Both the assemblies are in the bin directory and neither are in the GAC.  I'm trying to avoid introducing them there.  Is there somewhere in IIS or the web.config that I could update to tell it where to load the sub-assemblies? Please note that as a test, when I took out the reference to the business layer, the service compiled and was consumed by a test client successfully. Thanks, Kyle

Custom List Row association to multiple documents - Design choices?

I want to associate custom list entries to muliple documents. Thinking about options.   1 row will have many docs, but one doc will only have one row. Possible? Trying to keep it simple with minimal development. I was thinking I could have a unique column or the id column in the list act like a key (somehow).. and  add a required column to the document list requiring it to tie back to the list entry.  Then a view could drive listing all the docs for a particular row from a link in the list built in a custom dataview. All the docs could be in the same library. Is the the best approach? Ideas/suggestions? Thanks.

Custom actions and URL tokens when working with the Ribbon

I'm trying to add a new item to the Ribbon using a custom action in a VS SP2010 project. The new action shows up where we want it but the problem we are facing is that tokens like {ItemId} or {SelectedItemId} are not parsed when used in the CommandAction attribute. I would like to use these tokens and construct a URL pointing to an application page we've created. In the same way one can do using UrlAction when adding custom actions to the ECB menu (this is working fine in our project). The custom action below simply prints out different tokens. When run it seems like the tokens {SiteUrl},{SelectedListId} and {SelectedItemId}are parsed but for me both SelectedListId and SelectedItemId are null. Are there any other tokens that can be user or is there a better way to get hold of the item and list for the context? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/"> <CustomAction Id="{1f2da003-2069-4d4a-8fc5-1deeb98ecdda}" Location="CommandUI.Ribbon" Sequence="20"> <CommandUIExtension> <CommandUIDefinitions> <CommandUIDefinition Location="Ribbon.ListForm.Display.Manage.Controls._children"> <Button Id="{ca157255-5ef3-4f1c-bcb6-6ff5ff7610fe}" Command="{7887e42e-

Multiple selection filtering

Need to link multiple External Content List items to a single document metadata column

I have an external content list - for my purposes, the data isn't any fancier than a list of terms provided by a web service (read only - I don't need update/delete functionality). I want to be able to link any subset of those terms to a single document metadata column (in other words, I need it to work like a normal content list that is defined to allow multiple values in a column) but SharePoint doesn't let me do that on an ECL. I need the content list to be externally driven since more values are going to be added to an outside system over time, but I think it's possible that I may not need a full-fledged ECL list to make this work this way in SharePoint. Just to clarify: I don't need the metadata values in my documents to maintain a PERSISTENT link to the web service (if someone changes an underlying value in the web service DB, it doesn't need to be updated in the document table too). I just want SharePoint to offer up an updated set of source values from the web service if somebody goes in and edits the document metadata. Any ideas for how I can make this work?

Create 2 custom actions as one

Hi, In the custom actions in SharePoint designer 2010 it's possible to set: Navigate to a form / start a workflow / navigate to a url. Is it possible to set in one custom action: start a workflow and then navigate to a url...? (i want to start a workflow which create a wiki page and then navigate to this new page, all in one custom action. i didn't find a way to do those 2 steps in a workflow, since it may create the page but it doesn't open it... and on the other hand i didn't find a way to set a URL which creates the new page in the wiki library...) thanks!

Adding Custom Actions to Ribbon UI in InfoPath forms

Hi experts, - I have a custom List in my site. - I have modified the default SharePoint List forms (DispForm.aspx, EditForm.aspx and NewForm.aspx) using InfoPath 2010, changes being related to the layout of input controls. - Then I wish to add a custom action (a print button - for printing based on modified layout) in the Ribbon Control of these InfoPath modified forms (i.e. displayifs.aspx, editifs.aspx, newifs.aspx). - I am doing the following http://www.endusersharepoint.com/2010/02/19/adding-custom-actions-to-the-ribbon-ui-in-sharepoint-2010-using-sharepoint-designer-2010/ but i guess, it only forms for the SharePoint List forms and not the Infopath modified forms. Any suggestions on how to add a custom action of 'Print' on the Ribbon UI of the list forms. Is there any other better approach? Kindly advise. -Pallz.

Custom SPD workflow actions not showing in prod enviornment

We have developed some SharePoint designer workflow actions and in our production enviornment we get the behavior where the Custom actions show up in the actions list but when select the associated sentence text with paramters is not displayed.  We have double (and triple) checked that the actions files and the assembly signatures match - the SAME files have been installed in another environement and everything works. We believe we have tracked it down to when SharePoint Designer makes a call to the site collection web service webpartpages.asmx - GetAssemblyMetaData the client machine (with SharePoint Designer running) is not getting a full response to this call.  Any thoughts / ideas are appriciated!  Rob Roach

Dropping and linking multiple items within the same editing scope transaction

Hi, I'm using IActivityTemplateFactory.Create to provide a custom experience when the user drops a toolbox item onto my Flowchart designer.  The implementation of IActivityTemplateFactory.Create is to use the model item tree to programmatically create multiple model items (related to activities), and link them together using the appropriate model item properties and connector view state.  All this works fine except for one thing. Say I'm dropping three activities as a result of IActivityTemplateFactory.Create.  I want the first activity to appear at the top, underneath should be the second activity and below that the third activity.  I want all three activity designers to appear alighned around their center point and there to be a straight, centered connection arrow between activity one and two and another straight, centered connection arrow between two and three.  Here's some ASCII art (we'll see how the formatting is retained - not very well it seems): |-----------------| | Activity 1 | | | |-----------------| | | | \/ |--------------| | Activity 2 | |--------------| | | | \/ |----------| |Activity 3| |----------|  It's important to note that the activity designers all not all the same size; both the height and width can vary. I've written code that looks at the various activity
