Linq2Sql error: "Invalid attempt to call Read when reader is closed."

I've read up on this error from other posts and on other sites, but haven't found a solid resolution to the issue yet. My setup is as follows:

I have a RepositoryBase class that fields certain db calls that all repositories need to perform. In one such call, "GetSecurityGroup", it works most of the time, but will seemingly at random throw an exception with the error "Invalid attempt to call Read when reader is closed." All other Repository classes inherit from this one, and they all use the same DataContext object, which I understand isn't thread safe. Since there could be multiple calls to the DataContext object on the same page, perhaps one is using the DataContext when the next tries to do so. I'm not sure. What can I do to ensure this doesn't happen?

I have developed an ASPX page using VS2005. This page simply queries a SharePoint list through a WSS web service using CAML and takes the results and populates a DataTable and binds it to a DataView. ASP.net Web Site Administration Tool. An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page a

I have just installed Visual Studio 2010 trial. Previously I have been using Visual Studio Web Developer 2010 Express. Now every time I try to invoke the ASP.net Cofiguration tool either via the icon or through the Project File Menu item, I get the error message "An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again." I am trying to develop a bog standard Silverlight Business Application. There are no other diagnostics. Is there anywhere I can look for more clues or anything else to do to alleviate the problem? or is this something peculiar to the trial version I am using?   I also think it might have something to do with the fact that I have created this Silverlight Business App on a directory on my D: drive and not the normal, default c: drive path and maybe the web sit admin tool is looking somewhere else. Could this have something to do with it? If so what is my remedy?   Help please.....

Getting "401 Unauthorized" error with jquery call to webmethod

Hello folks,

I have been struggling to get my jquery call to a webmethod to work. I am being bounced by the server with a "401 Unauthorized" response. I must have an incorrect setting in the web.config or somewhere else that would be preventing a successful call.

Getting VP.NET code to respond to SQL Return values and Error Codes

I have SQL stored procedures that will return values depending on the outcome of its execution. I have the following code at the end of each of my Stored Procedures:

RETURN @siReturnValue

It would be great to be able to use this Return value after running the Stored Procedures from my VB.NET code. I have included an example of how I am running SQL Stored Procedures below:

Public Function SearchKeyword(ByVal SearchString As String) As Data.DataTable
        Dim AerialConnection = New SqlConnection(System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("aerialConnectionString").ConnectionString)
        Dim MediaArchive As New Data.DataTable
        Dim reader As SqlDataReader
Dim SelectMediaArchiveCommand = New SqlCommand("EXEC spSearch @keywords", AerialConnection)
            SelectMediaArchiveCommand.Parameters.AddWithValue("keywords", SearchString)
            reader = SelectMediaArchiveCommand.ExecuteReader()
        Catch e As Exception
        End Try
        Return MediaArchive
    End Function

How can I code this to respond to different Return values, or even error cod

ODBC Call Failed - Error 3151

We have an Access database migrated from Access 97 to Acces 2007 with some linked tables to an SQL Server 2008 database. We are using a File DSN in the ODBC Administrator. Connection tests work fine there. In fact, we have a main form in the Access 2007 application that shows the data always correctly. The problem appears when we execute a task that makes the following call:

Dim dbs As Database
Dim rstAppend As Recordset

Set dbs = CurrentDb
Set rstAppend = dbs.OpenRecordset(strAccessTable, dbOpenDynaset, dbSeeChanges)

OpenRecordset throws the error number  3151 and occurs randomly but it appears quite frequently.  It's sporadic. When we don't get the error, the task works fine.

  1. It not happens always, mosty we're fine.
  2. When it happens it happens for all subsequent tasks tried. We have to close and reopen the Access database and pray to the good Lord that it works.

Ask the Web server's administrator to give you access to 'c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10.MSSQLSERVER\Rporting Services\ReportServer\Reserved.RportServer'.

My 'ReportViewer' user which belong Users group used to works fine before my machine join the domain. And I check both follow folders and the Users group do have read and execute permission.
