Generate RSS Feed From Database

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 12, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Currently I am attempting to create an RSS feed for a blog website I build using ASP.Net MVC with C#. Currently I am simply creating a controller and index page on /feed of the site which does dynamically generate an RSS file but it doesn't work well since the document itself isn't actually an xml file but just a htm file made to look like an xml file.

What I have now: http://rekstarcraft.com/feed

I attached the code I use to do this but is there a way to instead create an actual XML file so google and feedburner will treat it like a standard rss feed?

Thanks in advance.

<%@ Page Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewPage<dynamic>" %>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<rss version="2.0">

As far as I understand Data-tier Applications in SQL Server 2008 R2 is a third option, isn't it? Are there more?

Thank you!

Multiple database support with Entity Framework

One of the features introduced in Entity Framework is being database independent. Which mean each database provider can support Entity Framework by implementing its provider.

This feature allows you build applications independent from the underplaying database provider. In this post I'm going to show how to build an application that support multiple databases using same conceptual model made by Entity Framework.

Export Visio Database Table Names to Excel

If you use the Enterprise Architect edition of Microsoft Visio for data modeling regularly, then there is a good chance that at some point you've wanted to export just the table names into Excel. You might want to do this to map logical ERD entities to physical data model tables, track project status by entity, or track overlap between database versions.

SQL Server Database Transaction

A transaction is a group of SQL commands executed together as a single component of work to be accomplished. If all of these commands succeed, then a transaction is committed - the changes to the data are made final. If any of the commands within a transaction fail, then the entire transaction is cancelled, or in SQL Server terms, the transaction will be rolled back.

Transactions are one of the things that keep your data safe, but they're not necessarily easy to understand. Here's some help:
