Content Type: Visible on New Button

With an existing content type associated to a list, does anyone know how to NOT show a content type on the New menu button of the list toolbar and NOT show it in the content type dropdown box in the edit form, using the object model?  (I need the content type to be associated with the list for existing items, but don't want uses to create new items from it.)

In the UI, you can go into the list settings page and click on 'Change new button order and default content type' link to hide any of the content types (both from the New menu and content type dropdown box).  I've tried a couple of methods, both unsuccessfully.

Where ct equal to the content type associated with the list, I've tried,

ct.Hidden =

No combobox ajax control visible in Visual Studio 2008 web project

Greetings -

New user to Visual Studio 2008 - one of the reasons for upgrading from 2005 was because I wanted to use the AJAX Toolbox Control for combobox in my web forms.

Have started a new project, have told it to use .net 3.5 for the project, but when I go to the ajax tooklkit in the toolbox panel there is no combobox.  Could someone please tell me why it isn't there?

Environment - Visual Studio 2008 SP1

Custom ribbon button that is visible "everywhere"

I am trying to create a custom ribbon button that will be visible whenever its parent group is present. For the moment the only way I can make it visible is if I explicitly type RegistrationId and RegistrationType under CustomAction. Removing either or both results in the button dissapearing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have been googling for ages trying to find a solution.

My elements.xml file:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Elements xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sharepoint/">
  <!-- Registration

How can I create a custom control that adds other controls visible to the page hosting my custom con

I want to create a custom control where I define several specifically named DIV sections.  The code-behind logic of the custom control will perform operations on these named DIV sections.  The page where the custom control is hosted needs to be able to add named controls to the DIV sections and perform operations on these named controls added to the DIV sections.

Let me explain a little further.  In the custom control, I want to have code behind logic that fires the following Page Event and uses a condition to make one or another specifically named DIV section visible or not:

    < _
    ToolboxData("<{0}:BaseDetails runat=""server""></{0}:BaseDetails>") _
    > _
    Public Class BaseDetails
        Inherits UserControl

        Protected Sub Page_PreRender(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.PreRender
            DetailsNameDiv1.Visible = False
            DetailsNameDiv2.Visible = False

Attach File button not visible on customized Newform.aspx

What would make the SharePoint:AttachmentUpload control not be visible to certain users on a cutomized newform but visible to other users.

The simple answer would seem to be permissions, but I can't find any specified permission that would cause that button to not be visible.  Nor is there any Javascript that sets that control visible or not visible based on permissions.  Far as I can tell if the person has the right to add a new item to a list they have the right to add an attachment.  This guy can add the item but can not see the "Attach File" control.

Any ideas?  (A quick answer would be great, even if a suggestion on where to look.)

Problem to group radio button across gridview rows

In general no one can easily group or make a single selection from radio button list inside gridview rows. There are a lot of way to make a single or unique selection from list. Here i want to share how i can address this problem in the most easiest way. Googling the problem most of the cases i saw the grouping in horizontal way. Thats why i tried to group the radio buttons in vertical manner. Let i have a requirement like below:

Maintain HTML Radio Button Selection Inside GridView After Postback

Long time ago I wrote an article about getting the value of the selected RadioButtons inside the GridView control. The code did not addresssed the postback issue which means that the selected radio button was cleared after the postback occurs.

A Simple and Extensible Radio Button Style GridView

The GridView is one of the significant controls in ASP.NET 2.0 and later versions. No doubt it reduces a lot of work time. However, customizing the GridView control is not an easy task. For example, it's hard to add a radio button column to the GridView. This article demonstrates the reason why a radio button column cannot act as normal and how to create a simple and extensible radio button GridView.

Editable Gridview with Textbox, CheckBox, Radio Button and DropDown List

This is an example of an editable gridview containing different ASP.NET controls. When user wants to edit values in gridview, she/he can use these controls to edit existing values in Gridview Edit Mode.

Using the Code

System.IO.Packaging is not visible

I am new to ASP.net, I installed VS2005 and IIS 5 on my PC and set up my first website using IIS (not the embedded webserver in VS).

For some reason I cannot find the Assembly: "System.IO.Packaging", please let me know if I am allowed to use it in that medium and how can I reference it?

Thanks in advance.
