Can I create several steps to be run on a SharePoint list as a task to run on a daily basis?

We have a manual process that we do on a SharePoint list to export data from SharePoint to a spreadsheet that can then be used by non SharePoint programs.  I'd like to be able to automate this process so that it can be scheduled as a Task to run on a daily basis.   Not sure if a workflow can do what I'd like it to.  I have SharePoint Designer 2007 as well.

Here are the steps:

1. Load a particular View of a SharePoint List

2. From the view's Action menu, "Open with Access"

3. Save the resulting Access database as a file to a specific Folder on the computer hosting SharePoint

This would be run as a Task on the computer hosting SharePoint.

How do I create a calculated member for daily total revenue?

Hi everyone! I'm new to MDX and I can't figure out how to create a working calculated member. Here's business background: There are 2 measures in the cube - a and b. The formula for Total Revenue is a - b - $1000 ( don't ask me why =), 1000 is being subtracted from each day's Total Revenue - a ball park adjustment for something) My calculated member [Measures]. [Total Revenue] looks like this Case     When IsEmpty([Measures].[a]- [Measures].[b])     Then null     Else [Measures].[a]- [Measures].[b]-1000 Unfortunately this calculated member doesn't work correctly, it subtracts $1000 from everywhere and not from the intersection of [Dim Calendar].[HierarchyTime].[Day] and Total Revenue. How do I make it work in accordance with business logic? The objective is to adjust Total Revenue by subtracting $1000 for each day.  Thanks in advance!

SQL*Server 2008 SP1 applied but still tries to download and install from Windows Update

I had previously posted this on the windows update forum and was advised here was more appropriate. I have installed SQL*Server Express 2008 on laptop with windows7 and appled the SP1 update. This shows as applied correctly when looking at programs/updates from control panel, update logs. The management console confirms version 10.1.2531 is running. Each time I use windows update  the service pack is listed as needing download / install - the same KB968369 is given as the reference. I have run this a couple of times but the update is shown as outstanding each time. Any ideas how to resolve this? Thanks Colin

daily complete cube rebuild four dimensions and fact table including remapping of all surrogate keys

Hi SSIS Engineers: Forgive me if this is a multi-forum question. Our primary activity in the next week is to automate the processing in SSIS, where I led the team to create complete processing flows for Full and Add in the order of Dimension, Measure Group, Partition, Cube, Database. These work. The problem occurs in a complete refresh of the ERP database that caused me manual effort inside SSAS, which I plan to find a way to automate in SSIS. I performed a complete refresh of our cube from the ERP source from a time perspective. We are automating this process in SSIS. In SSAS, I had to manually delete the four dimensions from the UDM view via the Solution Explorer. Since the complete refresh increased the surrogate keys in the dimensions and since the names were the same, I couldn't just drop the partition and reprocess the dimensions, since, in effect, new fact rows would have to be mapped to the new keys. SSAS held on to the old keys even with Full Processing of the Dimensions first, then the Cube. Until I dropped--deleted-- the dimensional tables from the Solution Explorer and the UDM then later readded the dimensions with the new surrogate keys (both add, update and delete dimensional attribute changes in full refresh) via the Add Dimension wizard, the cube kept the old surrogate keys and failed in measure group, fact, database and partition processing.

Summed Daily totals giving different amounts from Monthly totals

Hi all, We have a cube that was displaying revenue at the monthly level for our shops. The aggregration was done in SQL by before being read into the fact table that the cube was based on. I was tasked to take the aggregration down to daily level. What has happened is that my cubed monthly totals do not work out to the 'old' monthly sales. One store is 0.4 % different on one measure and a total figure is about £300 out on sales of £48K I am thinking a rounding error. I appreciate the details are important but I do not want to come on here and expect someone to look through my code. :-) I am more after pointers on what to look for and if anyone has seen this sort of thing before. Any input appreciated. Thanks all.

Sitemap disappears almost daily after moving to .NET 4.0

We have the following problematic behaviour on our production server (.NET 4.0, Windows Server 2003, IIS 6.0): Almost every morning, the users will complain that the sitemap used for navigating has disappeared. We use the standard SiteMapPath control, with a static XML file that contains the site structure. Reycling the application pool resolves the problem.I was unable to find any obviously related error messages in the event logs. The sitemap did not disappear when we used .NET 3.5, now we use .NET 4.0. The users most often access reports using ReportViewer 2010 in local mode (loading rdlc files)As of now,we are unable to reproduce the behaviour on our test system, but since we don't have dedicated test users, the test server is idle most of the time. If it has to do with recycling the app pool, maybe it only happens under load, I don't know. Can anyone suggest an approach on how to get to the source of the problem? Reverting to 3.5 would take a lot of effort since we already depend on 4.0 in some places.

T-SQL query, average of daily time periods over a date range

I'm building a report in Crystal Reports using a SQL command against a T-SQL 2005 telephony database.

I need to be able to run the query across a given datetime range, 6 months for example and bring back a 5 day display (Mon-Fri) with a group for every 15 minute interval in each day.

The group figures need to contain an average of the amount of calls presented for each 15 minute interval on any day across the whole datetime range, so for example the Monday 10:00 - 10:15 figure would be an average of all calls presented in every 10:00-10:15 range on each of the Mondays that fall within the datetime range.

I've got a query built now that gives total presented figures grouped by these intervals across one week but I can't figure out how to do this average function across a range.

Does anyone have any idea how I'd go about accomplishing this? I'm pretty new to SQL but keen to learn so any pointers on functions to research etc would be very much appreciated.

Thanks alot in advance, Andy.

Seven entries per change in daily alert on a custom list

I have an alert on a custom list with "All changes", "Any changes" and "Send a daily summary" set.  In the daily email, each change entry is repeated 7 times.  I only have one active alert (if I had multiple, I'd likely get 7 email messages, not one with duplicate entries).

The version number of the item is consistent with only one change being made.  The SharePoint version is reported as  I don't have admin or physical access to this installation and can not see if there are any unusual features installed.

Having to restart Reporting Services daily by running IISReset

We have Windows 2008 64bit cluster, running SQL 2005 Reporting Services.  Almost everyday we have to run IISReset to have reporting services come up again in the morning and sometimes during the day an IISReset will have to be run. .  Otherwise you will receive "Service Unavailable.  HTTP error 503.  The service is unavailable".

All the services are running.  Looking thru the reporting services logs and Event Viewer nothing indicates as of yet, what the issue may be.

I know this is somewhat generic the description but again I can't find anything specific of what may be causing this.    Any ideas of how better to troubleshoot this issue would be appreciated, or ideas of what settings to alter.  Could it just be load on the server?   Othe

How to create a daily attendance register.

i'm trying to design an attendance register for pupils in a class for a term (3 months). I wanted to create columns for each day throughout the 3 months in the students table of the database but i feel this is too ambigous.  The register will be marked either 'presence' or 'absence' everyday by the class teacher. Going by my own idea, there will be a gridview with 3 columns (ID, Name & Current date). The current date will have checkbox to mark presence or absence.

The end result is to get the total days a pupil was present in school for the term, i think there is a better way to do this. I'll be pleased if anyone can help me out, i'm using this as my final year project.....THANKS

Converting daily snapshots into format for time series analysis

I wasn't sure if this was an app question or a database question, so I'll start here first ...

Desired End State:
I'd like a process/app/database/whatever that converts daily inventory snapshots into one or two tables for easy analysis over time. Ideally, I'd like the solution to be efficient, flexible, and resource-sensitive.

What is the best way to go about this?

Current State/Background:
I'm working with a vendor who sends me daily Excel sheets with assets under management. The reports are based a snapshot of master records from the inventory system. For discussion, let's say a sample looks like this:

AssetID, Serial#, Status
123456, ABC123, Deployed
365494, D2-F39, Retired
B63489, 123GR2, Pending

The inventory is mostly static. Of the 40K rows in the spreadsheet, only 20 or so change from day-to-day. Further, once an asset is retired, its record never changes again.

Because they're complete snapshots of the master data, the spreadsheets are massive (over 40K rows, currently around 40 MB each). This makes them awkward to work with.

I have two main business requirements:
1) From today's spreadsheet, I need an easy way to identify the 20 rows that changed yesterday.
2) For a specific asset, I need to trac

Processor queue lenght on a SQl server 2008

Processor queue length is high on SQL server 2008 with win 2008 R2.  Its a ESX VM with 2 processors and 4 GB RAM

1. SQL is using only 50% of allocated 2GB of memory.

2. memory paging is almost 0

3. Buffer cache and procedure cache is almost 100%

4. page life expectancy is very good.

But why is the processor queue lenght high. Its been high since a day. Avg is more than 3

manually applied KB960082 for MS SQL 2000, but Windows update still includes it to be installed

Applied KB960082 using SQLWMSDE-KB960082-x86-ENU.exe; the install log shows successful configuration.  However, Windows Update still shows KB960082 among the fix still to be installed.

This is an SBS 2003 systems environment.

MDX calculation of Daily Sales Outstanding

How to update element value in xml file on disk without loading the xml in memory?

Hi everyone,

I am working on xml for almost three month but still i can't solve the update problem of element in xml file directly on the disk without loading the whole xml document. Rather i want to load only the particular element of xml and change it and update xml file on disk.

                               <name>name of waypoint</name>

                               <name>second waypoint</name>

What i am trying is to update the value of name element of second waypoint without loading the whole gpx in object,
rather to update the value directly oto the disk, and also the description doesn't show if there is null or empty.

ASP.Net Gridview Edit Update Cancel Commands

In ASP.Net 2.0, GridView Control also provides the functionality to edit and update the data retrieved from the database using CommandField template. You can cancel the action using Cancel Command of the CommandField. GridView consists of events that can be used to perform the actions like edit, update and cancel upon the Data items displayed in the ASP.Net GridView Data Control.
