ReportViewer doesn't handle paging properly

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I have a user that runs a report through the reportviewer control.  When they render the report it only shows 1 page, but if we run the report through report manager it shows 3 pages.  This happens using SQL 2008 SP1 reporting services.  This problem does NOT occur in the 2005 environment we have.

Why feature with event receiver doesn't activate properly after site provisioning?

I have defined feature with event receivers for my document library and for users List .

I try to activate my feature in onet.xml in section <WebFeatures>. After provisioning a new site from onet.xml  all work fine and my feature is shown as activated, but event receivers doesn't fire. It fires only after reactivating my feature (deactivate, then activate it again). But I need my feature works immediately after site provisioning without deactivating and activating it again. Who knows how to solve this problem?

XMLSerializer don't handle mixed contents properly

mixed content model allows a combination of text and elements in the XML document. we use .net xmlserializer to serialize/deserialize the XML. XmlSerializer don't handle mixed content properly. XmlSerializer handles mixed content models to a degree. XmlSerializer add the text in the xml document, but the position of text is not exactly where they appeared in the original XML document. Let's take a example here is original xml <employee xmlns="http://example.org/xmlserializer">   here is some text...   <id>333-33-3333</id>   here is some more...   <name>Bob Smith</name>   and here is even more... </employee> We deserialize above xml using the xmlserializer then we serialize it back into xml. Now xml document is changed as follows <employee xmlns="http://example.org/xmlserializer">    <id>333-33-3333</id>   <name>Bob Smith</name>   here is some text...   here is some more...    and here is even more... </employee> You see the position of text is changed. I have seen the Microsoft code to serialize/deserialize the xml through reflector. They put text in a string array but position is not saved. Is there any solution or workaround? I don't want to parse the xml by xmlReader. I want fix in the Microsoft generated classes that ar

How to handle sorting and paging when objectdatasource is being built dynamically?

WSS 3.0 Knowledge Base Template doesn't function properly after SharePoint 2010 migration

I migrated our WSS 3.0 instance to SharePoint 2010 in a dev environment.  So far, everything works with the exception of the most heavily utilized portion of our WSS 3.0 installation – which is a "Knowledge Base" sub-site utilizing the following features:   Knowledge Base List Instances: List Instances for the Knowledge Base Application Template Knowledge Base Modules: Modules for the Knowledge Base Application Template Knowledge Base Provisioning Handler   Link to Knowledge Base Template http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=BC4E5C4E-FBBB-4666-8E32-C4CEE09E1FE6&displaylang=en   Two issues exist with the Knowledge Base after migrating.   1.       The “Write new Article” feature which uses a content type called “Wiki Knowledge Base Article” use to open a “New Wiki Page” that provided the all of the associated fields specified in the List Content type settings.  Upon creating the new Wiki Page (i.e. Knowledge base article) it would associate it with the “Knowledge Base” document library.  The “Write new Article” feature now fails to utilize / recognize the Content Type settings and instead create a blank New Page without any fields except for “New page name:” and also creates a “Site Pages&

Windows Authentication Doesn't work properly

Advanced Search Web Part in 2010 does not seem to handle scopes properly

I have configured a page in SP2010 with an advanced scope web part.

I have enabled the scope picker from the "advanced search" scope group and adding a new scope to that group in the site collection settings.

The advanced search web part is targetted to a new results page containing the core results web part.

When I perform a search for string test using one of the scopes that I have selected the results page is called as follows.

No results are rendered.

What I don't quite understand is I thought that the querystring should actually be.

Which when entered manually works.

So it sort of seems that the advanced search web part is rendering the wrong querystring!!

The search centre is enterprise template (not fast) and sharepoint server search is configured not fast search.

.NET 4 Client Profile doesn't instal properly

I've tried to instal the following within Windows Update - Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile for Windows 7 x64-based Systems (KB982670).  Each time the instal fails, with no explanation why.  However, I have an application on my PC which seems to recognise the presence of .NET 4 and, as a consequence, stalls.  My Registry shows 3.5 SP1 as being installed, but not 4.  Control Panel doesn't show .NET 4.  Any ideas on how I can clean up, or why the v4 instal doesn't complete?

When installing VS 2010 SQL server doesn't install properly

I have tried to install Visual Studio 2010 Professional from DVD onto a freshly installed copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.I was logged on to an account that is an adminstrator and I right clicked and chose "run as administrator" on the autorun on the DVD.  Although it said it was successful the SQL Server 2008 R2 did not install properly. The messages in the installation log are of the kind:

[11/16/10,15:43:28] Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Objects (x64): ISetupManager::GetGlobalCustomProperty() failed to find global prop in CBaseComponent::GetGlobalCustomProperty()

I also got in the event viewer 224 copies of error event id 63 with text:

A provider, SQLServerEventProvider, has been registered in the Windows Management Instrumentation namespace root\Microsoft\SqlServer\ServerEvents\SQLEXPRESS to use the LocalSystem account. This account is privileged and the provider may cause a security violation if it does not correctly impersonate user requests.

and 2 copies of warning event id 1101 with text:

Calculated measure doesn't slice properly

Hi there,

I have a revenue cube has MTD net revenue measure, and I created calculated measure, YTD net revenue:

[Date DIM].[Fiscal Date].[Fiscal Year],

[Date DIM].[Fiscal Date].CurrentMember

([Measure].[MTD net revenue])

[Measure].[MTD net revenue] can be sliced by Date, Region, Office, Department but not YTD net revenue.

Our fiscal year starts with Jul, for example, MTD net revenue

Month    Region Office   Department   MTD net revenue

Jul 2010, GTA, Toronto, DepartmentA 1111.00

Jul 2010 GTA Toronto DepartmentB 2222.00

Aug 2010 GTA Toronto DepartmentA 3333.00

but no MTD net revenue for Department B

When slicing YTD net revenue, everything looks good in Region office level

Month    Region Office   YTD net revenue

Jul 2010 GTA    Toronto  3333.00

Aug 2010 GTA  Toronto  6666.00

But it's not correct in Department level:

Month    Region Office   Department  YTD net revenue

Jul 2010 GTA    Toronto DepartmentA 1111.00

Jul 2010 GTA    Toronto DepartmentB  2222.00

Aug 2010 GTA  Toronto DepartmentA&n

Visual Studio doesn't draw properly.

When I load my Visual Studio (C++ 2010 Express and / or Visual Basic 2010 Express, it's even happened with Web Developer 2010 Express and C# 2010 Express), it never seems to work properly.

As I'm sure you know, at load a start page is meant to show with a list of previously opened projects and the latest news on the product, but for me its just a solid colour of purple from the background colour of the application. If I manage to load a project it does an initial refresh and seems fine, but when I scroll the code it doesn't refresh, the same can be said for when I goto edit the code.

I found that resizing the window and / or changing its maximized / minimized state generates a refresh and allows me to view changes, I've also found that restart my computer a few times or re-logging allows the VS collection to work fine. Interestingly it will work, but then if I close it for more than a few hours it stops, and vise-versa.

I've re-installed both C++ 2010 Express and Visual Basic 2010 Express at least twice, I also have the latest drivers and service packs.

Any help will be appreciated, I hate coding in Notepad++ and then debugging in VS.

AJAX GridView Paging and Sorting using C# in ASP.Net

To enable the GridView Paging and Sorting to update the GridView Data without refreshing the ASP.Net web page AJAX Extension controls are used. UpdatePanel is used to hold the GridView control that triggers the events for the controls placed inside it. By Default UpdatePanel triggers the asynchronous postbacks for its child controls.

Creating Paging for a Repeater Control

A common question is "How do I implement paging within a Repeater?" Although the beauty of the Repeater control is its flexibility, you're on your own for building most functions. ASP.NET 2.0 has included some new controls that provide paging, as does the DataGrid in ASP.NET 1.1. However, this tip shows you how to roll your own paging for a simple data viewer.

GridView Sorting/Paging : 'REAL' AJAX with Asp.Net Series

This is a continuation of my 'REAL' AJAX with Asp.Net (not Asp.Net AJAX) series posts for those of us trying to stop relying on Asp.Net 'AJAX'.

Ok, nothing too dramatic to start things off, we are going to make some tabled data sortable and pagable all without using a bit of postback. Not only that, but it is going to be incredibly easy!

Manually sorting and paging Gridview without using datasource control

Many a times while working with Gridview we want to work with the paging and sorting functionality without using any datasource control. Gridview is flexible enough to perform these tasks without the use of any datasource control and only a few lines of code.
