I am using ASP.NET and C# 2.0 and working on web application.
I want to embed a word document inside a excel sheet.
How to embed word document inside excel.
We are having an issue with an Excel spreadsheet that is linked to several Excel documents in a document library. Mutliple staff members update several "sub" spreadsheets with information that is rolled up to the "master" spreadsheet. Excel appears
to behave correctly in that if I open both the sub and master spreadsheets in my Excel window at the same time, the data in master gets updated. If I just open the master, I have stale data. I'm not sure SharePoint is to blame here, so I'll post
this in the Excel forums as well, but any information or experience anyone has had with this would be fantastic.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice!
Hi, I am using Sharepoint 2010 and Excel 2010 x64.
I created a document library where I host a simple excel file for testing. When I click on it , it opens in the web browser just fine.
When I chose to open it with Excel , I get this error : The document could not be opened for editing. A microsoft Sharepoint Foundation compatible application could not be found to edit the document.
I already tried as well to do a check out before opening it and it still doesn't work.
Any ideas ?
PS : same thing happens with Visio 2010.
I want to read Excel document using C#. I am not a professional so I need examples to learn the technique. If anyone provides useful link, information, api library, tutorial it will be very helpful to me.
Thank you very much.
In a version-control enabled document library full of excel spreadsheets (xlsx); I am trying to read values from it.
I have no problem with the latest document, (because I couldn't find anyway to reach the documents but the URL of them with OpenWorkbook method) the latest version's URL is simple like "http://spsite/excel library/file.xlsx" and the old
version is like "http://spsite/_vti_history/512/excel library/file.xlsx".
And the old version cannot be opened and giving me the error:
The file that you selected could not be found. Check the spelling of the file name and verify that the location is correct
Is there any way to deal with it and open. The same method can open spreadsheet and take the data from it, but when it comes to the old version it cannot find the file.
I think, there must be a permission issue on this thing for the old versions but I couldn't find anything.
Thanks in advance. I hope you guys can show me the light..
I have allready installed and configured SP 2010 Enterprise. Configured Excel and Visio Services (created services, configured Application ID for external data). Then activated enterprise features on my site collection and add excel and visio documents to
When I try to view them in browser I get error: server can't process request .
This problem disapeared in my developer server after I have installed MS Office Excel and Visio on my server. Should I do that for my product server or there are other way to solve this problem?
I have created a document library, specifying that the 'Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet' be used as the document template. When I try to create a new document by selecting the template from the 'new Document' drop down, I get a message stating that
'The document could not be created. The required application may not be installed properly, or the template for this document library cannot be opened.' Additionally, the template is opened as template.xltx in notepad (with all of the funny
characters you would expect).
I have Office Professional Plus 2010 installed on my computer, and I am able to open XLSX and XLTX files from SharePoint (just not from the 'new document' button). I also have no problem with PowerPoint or Word templates in SharePoint. I am also able
to open the excel template by navigating to the template in explorer view. I've found that if I open Excel before I attempt to create a new document, the template will open in Excel, however the document is titled 'Template1' instead of 'Document1' as
would be expected. Any thoughts?
I have a workflow created that should pop up when a new item is added to a list. This works fine if I just add a new item to the list manually. It also works fine if I start the workflow manually, but it defeats the purpose. All the workflow
does is assign a few tasks, send a few emails, and change the permissions for the document. As a reference, I created the form in InfoPath with excel services calls and I created the workflow in SharePoint Designer 2010.
However, my list is mainly populated by Excel Services calls - opening a workbook and calling SaveWorkbookCopy - and for some reason, these calls do not kick off the workflow.
I tried changing my account (because the documents appear to be created by me) to a system account, but then it doesn't kick off anything. I tried changing the Web App user to a System Account, but it still doesn't work either.
My workflow shows: the "Failed on Start" error (says it was canceled by System Account) and when I look in the logs it shows:
08/03/2010 13:45:26.69 w3wp.exe (0x1A78) 0x1B1C SharePoint Foundation
I have a document library with a custom document template. The template is an .XLTX file that I created using Excel 2010. It is associated to the library via a custom content type.
The template worked without any problems for at least a couple of weeks. Then, about a week ago, SharePoint started issuing the following warning when trying to create a new document using the template:
"The document could not be created. The required application may not be installed properly, or the template for this document library cannot be opened. Please try the following:
Check the General Settings for this document library for the name of the template, and install the application necessary for opening the template. If the application was set to install on first use, run the application and then try creating a new document
If you have permission to modifyu this document library, go to General Settings for the library and configure a new template."
This issue happens for myself, and some of my colleagues but not everyone. It happens on both SharePoint 2007, and 2010. We all have MS Office 2010 (32-bit) installed on our client machines. I have already tried changing the file extension application association
for .XLS, .XLSX, .XLTX and .XLT to make extra sure that they are all pointing to Excel 2010. It didn't
I am having Sharepoint 2010 Enterprise RTM Trial on windows Server 2008 SP2.
I have Document Library in my site. I want to display the contents of excel workbook placed in that library in a webpart (webpart like List webpart not Excel Web access webpart). If workbook is updated then the webpart should also update....
Can it be done through workflows ? or any other webpart that provide me the desired behaviour ?
I have a requirement where in i need to collect all the site collection users using sharepoint object model, then dump the collected dump to an excel sheet created at runtime and store it to a Sharepoint document library.
When the data is moved to excel, the control should not give any dialogue box where open and save option is there.
Can some please help me how to go about this?
