32 bit solution gets error on 64 bit machine

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

I just read on another post that solutions developed on 32 bit machine will run without problem on 64 bit machine. But here is my problem.

Solution developed on windows xp, 32 bit.

Solution currently running on windows 2000 32 bit, with sql server 2003.

Migrated solution to windows server 64 bit with sql server 2008 and get following error:

could not load file or assembly microsoft.sqlserver.batchparser version

I am learning this as I go along, working on software already partially developed. I created an install package that includes all dependencies including batchparser, but I assume it is batchparser for 32 bit. I looked on gac of target machine and batchparser is in there twice, I assume for 32 bit and 64 bit since I read that it's the only dll that you need both versions for. But I think my solution is not looking in gac, it's looking in my solution folder. Even so, I renamed the batchparser.dll in my solutions folder hoping that the program would resolve dependency by looking in gac, but it didn't work.

So what do I need to do? I think I need to put the 64 bit batchparser.dll in my solution folder and my install package, but where do I get it? I don't want to download and install the 64 bit libraries on my 32 bit development machine, and I can't find just the 64 bit batchpa

Error When Deploying Multiple Projects in a Solution

We have a solution with 16 projects, where all but 3 are Sharepoint 2010 projects. When we deploy the projects in VS2010 individually, everything is fine, but when we deploy the solution (right-click, deploy), we experience one of two problems: 1. Not all projects get deployed, some just give the following message: "Deployment was not performed for this project because it is a dependent project." 2. Some of the projects (currently always the same three Sharepoint2010 projects) give the following error during the "Recycle IIS Application Pool" step: "Error occurred in deployment step 'Recycle IIS Application Pool': The open operation did not complete within the allotted timeout of 00:01:00. The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout." We don't have any dependencies set up in the projects except for the ones which are automatically created when we add project references. If we do two subsequent solution deployments, the first one will suffer from issue 1 and the second from issue 2 as well. When issue 2 happens, the faulty projects can't even be deployed individually until VS2010 has been restarted.   A Google search has revealed nothing at all. We're at a loss and it's getting to be very frustrating for the entire team. Any help would be appreciated.   Thanks, Bjoern

state machine workflow project creation error

Hi,   I have a dev environment which i had sharepoint 2007 and now i upgraded it to sharepoint 2010. Now when i try to create a state machine workflow project it gives me an error Object Reference not set to an object. I uninstalled Sharepoint extensions 1.3 (as i 64bit win2008 vm) and when i am trying to install it. In one of the installation screens where it asks for the port no  and the select the app pool it only shows the sharepoint central v3 app pool . i was expecting to have sharepoint 2010 product app pool in the drop down. I know that there should be a app pool on port 80. Since i upgraded sharepoint to 2010. I want sharepoint visual studio extensions 1.3 to point to sharepoint 80 app pool . Please can you tell me how i can do it.

SQLCLI service not registered on the local machine error

Hi, With reference to the above title, I am trying to connect an SQL Server 2008 Express instance which came along with Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate from my C# app. My connection string is: Provider= SQLNCLI;Server=host\SQLEXPRESS;Database=database; When I try connecting with the above connection string, it says: SQLNCLI provider not registered on the local machine followed by my connection string. What am I supposed to do to solve this issue? Thank You in advance for your reply. Regards, Clifford

Error installing SQL Server 2008 R2 on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 machine

HI all, I'm installing the Developer edition of MS SQL Server 2008 R2 (downloaded today) on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit virtual machine (using VMWare Workstation 6.5).  Yesterday I had tried MS SQL Server 2008 R0 with the same results.  Both give an error about 30% into the installation process: "An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'VSLangProj80,Version="",PublicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a",Culture="neutral",FileVersion="8.0.50727.1826"' When I click the OK button, the install rolls that last bit back and then continues.  Unfortunatly I didn't take a screenshot of the main install window, just the error window. Any ideas what this error means?  The install yesterday seemed to work, but I'm not through the R2 install yet.  The R0 install also failed to install the documentation for some reason (I left it running during the night) Note that I have VS2010 (original release plus downloaded updates) installed and then just some small stuff like Snagit and Skype on this VM.  I updated Windows 7 completely before I started installing R2 so it is completely up to date as of midnight! Adding AJAX-enabled WCF Service to the Solution throws an error

Hi I am just trying to learn Ajax enabled WCF service, when I try to create a new web application and add new item "AJAX-enabled WCF Service" I get an error message that "The extension of type 'System.ServiceModel.Configuration.WebScriptEnablingElement, System.ServiceModel.Web, Version=, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' is not registered in the extension collection 'behaviorExtensions'. I had .net2.0/VS2005 and then I installed VS2008. I thought it might be an issue with Machine.config. So I am attaching my machine.config info. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>    <!--    Please refer to machine.config.comments for a description and    the default values of each configuration section.     For a full documentation of the schema please refer to    http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=42127     To improve performance, machine.config should contain only those    settings that differ from their defaults.    -->    <configuration>      <configSections>    <section name="appSettings" type="System.Configuration.AppSettingsSection, System.Configuration, Version=, Culture=neutral, Publi

TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.

I hosted a wcf service application using windows services. When my client (ASP.NET) tries to call the service class hosted by the windows service, I get this error "TCP error code 10061: No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. ". Is there a fix for this? The same code works fine if I host it using a console application.

Error occurred in deployment step 'Add Solution': Failed to load receiver assembly

I've created a VS2010 sharepoint project and added a feature event receiver to my site definition. When I try to deploy it show me the error bellow:

Error messages when deploying SSAS 2008 solution

I'm working on an AS 2008 project using VS2008. The relational database for the data source is SQL Sever 2008 R2 CTP (n.b correction from original post), and so is the target server I am trying to deploy to. When I try to deploy the solution the following errors are returned:

Error 5 Internal error: Invalid enumeration value. Please call customer support! is not a valid value for this element.  0 0

Error 6 An error occurred while parsing the 'StorageMode' element at line 1, column 11865 ('http://schemas.microsoft.com/analysisservices/2003/engine' namespace) under Load/ObjectDefinition/Dimension/StorageMode.  0 0

Error 7 Errors in the metadata manager. An error occurred when instantiating a metadata object from the file, '\\?\C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSAS10_50.MSSQLSERVER\OLAP\Data\AMS Analysis Services 2008.0.db\Dim Date.19.dim.xml'.  0 0

I'm afraid I'm a bit stumped by these. Is it something to do with the fact that the target Analysis Services server is running R2? If so what can I do to deploy to that box?

Visio Graphics Service Error & Understanding the Solution

I originally had posted this in response to a question in the General Q&A forum but (1) think that this is a better place to have this discussion and (2) hope that it will gets some views here.

In debugging why I can't enable Workflow Visualization using SharePoint Designer 2010 I came across the error in my Central Admin "The Unattended Service Account Application ID is not specified or has invalid value" -- Failing Service -- VisioGraphicsService

After clicking the link in the error description (which takes you to the wrong place BTW) I was pointed to this tech net article as the place to find the solution (http://tinyurl.com/32tjyl6). IMO I don't think that providing just this link is going to help most people solve the problem directly.  If you follow that link there is a lot of reading to do just to figure out what is going wrong, let alone to fix the problem.

From all the research that I have done (I think that) you have to do the following steps:

  1. Plan a Secure Store Service (http://tinyurl.com/2wa8vff)
  2. Provision a Secure Store Service (http://tinyurl.com/38phsgg)
  3. Create a Target App

VS2010 RTM bug?? Error Occurred in deployment step 'Add Solution': Value cannot be null. Parameter

I'm getting this error with Visual Studio 2010 (RTM) deploying to SharePoint 2010 (also RTM).

An "Empty SharePoint Solution" project with an OOB "Module" item added. Try to deploy and I get:

Error Occurred in deployment step 'Add Solution': Value cannot be null. Parameter name: s

The account I'm developing with has:

  • Domain Admin
  • Local Admin
  • SharePoint Farm Admin
  • Site Collection Admin
  • SQL "sysadmin"
  • SQL "DBOwner" on all config / content databases
  • UAC is disabled

The WSP package is created successfully, and if I roll it out using STSADM then it works perfectly. For some reason though Visual Studio 2010 thinks that it cannot be deployed!

Any ideas??

Error occurred in deployment step 'Retract Solution': The language-neutral solution package was no

I've got the same error as those who opened this thread, but I'm looking for the cause of this error rather than deleting the solution file from SP2010 Server over and over again.

I was developing and deploying with VS2010 and SP2010 Enterprise Edition just fine for over three month now and out of nothing this error pops up again and again for the same solution. I can't tell what I've changed or which software I might have installed in the meantime, so I can't give any hints what causes the errormessage. Which might be interesting: I installed my SP2010 Enterprise Edition in english and installed the german language pack afterwards. Kind regards, Andreas
