setup error sharepoint 2010 Windows 7 product ID

Windows 7 Pro trying to install 2010 in standalone. I started with an ISO image, burnt it to a cd and copied all of the files here c:\SharePointFiles . manually Installing the prerequisites.

When I run setup.exe I get the error: The Product ID spcified was not found on your machine

My config.xml file has this line added: <Setting Id="AllowWindowsClientInstall" Value="True"/>

I also put in the Product key in the config.xml. I cant seem to find much help online with this error. I tried to copy the config.xml to the same directory as the setup.exe and that did not help either.

Anyone have any ideas what direction I should take? I have pretty much read this thread to death: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee554869(office.14).aspx and that has not seemed to shed any light on the matter. Anyone? I'm several hours into Googling and still running into the same issue no matter what I do.

Appreciate any help - Thanks!!

Error during SQL Server 2008 setup on windows 7 home premium

I have Windows 7 home Premium on 64 bit machine. I have installed Visual Studio 2008 sucessfully and SQL Server 2008 installer also shows "successful" installation. However when I try to login thru Sql mgmt Studio, I get error " No process is on the other end of the pipe". I checked SQL Server configuration and Named Pipes configuration, that seems all right. When I checked event log, it had following msg:

The Tabular Data Stream (TDS) version 0x730a0003 of the client library used to open the connection is unsupported or unknown. The connection has been closed.

on googling, some of posts suggest to download .Net f/w 2.0 SP1. I downloaded the same from MS site, but on instllation, I get msg "this version is not supported on windows vista".

Please suggest any solution/workaround, i have been struggling with this for sometime now.

thanks in advance

SharePoint 2010 Development and Test Environment

I've seen statements to the effect that one can develop for SharePoint 2010 on Vista or Windows 7. Could someone please clarify this for me?

If I have Windows 7 64-bit edition and enough memory, can I load SharePoint 2010, the whole nine yards, along with SQL Server 2008, SPD and Visual Studio, and have it run in a meaningful way for a lab environment? Do I need a lab domain and a lab domain controller?

Can I do the same with Windows 7 and Windows Virtual PC, running SharePoint as a VPC image? In that case, which guest operating system would be preferred, Widows 7 or Windows Server 2008?

If I use Windows 7 as the host in a non-virtual environment, what do I lose over doing the same thing but with Windows Server 2008 as the base operating system?

How to create a virtual directory and get benefit of the IIS. Is there a workaround to accomplish this without the Windows Authentication for Windows 7 Home Premium Edition?

How to upgrade from Windows SharePoint Services 2.0 to SharePoint Foundation 2010 after mistanely de

I need a detailed instruction on how to upgrade From Upgrading from Windows SharePoint Services 2.0  (SBS 2003 ) to SharePoint Foundation 2010.

Background of the case:

I have all my databases (STS-database and STS_Config) saved but, I forgot to save my Virtual Site )Companyweb site) and I mistakenly re-installed IIS on the SBS 2003, hence  I lost the companyweb site. Is this an issue to migrate to Sharepoint foundation 2010. The Sharepoint foundation 2010 is running on a Microsoft HyperV Server 2008 R2
Also, I have created a Virtual 2003 SRV ENT with Sharepoint Services 3.0 running on it. I also have attached my Databases STS_Database and STS_Config)... how do I get it working like a regular website. I have modified the CNAME record to reflect the new server... http://companyweb - it take me to the new site but it loads a blank page. I did create a new CompanyWeb Virtual site on the VHD 2003 server.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your prompt response. Nelson
