Allowing internal users access to Sharepoint site externally

Good afternoon.   This may be a simple answer (I hope so actually) but I haven't been able to figure this out. What I need: I have internal users who can access my Sharepoint site easily while logged onto my network, and external users who I have added to our Active Directory system who can access the site using our external URL.  Both work fine. What I am having problems with:  One of my users (internal) is on a different AD (he is on our European network) and he can not access the site either from the VPN (when he is in the US) nor from the external site (it will take him to the logon screen, but since he doesn't have an account on our AD, it won't let him in). I understood from our European IS department that all we had to do was give him both internal and external access to the Sharepoint site, and he would be able to connect from anywhere. So, how do I do that (give him both)?  Do I need to have our IS team turn on MOSS2007 to do this (it is not turned on today). Many thanks, I am still a newb at Sharepoint, but trying to learn quickly. Thanks, Jim

How to do internal site search using aspx with vb scripts instead of cs scripts?

anyone is kind to help?

Thanks in advance. Regards.

throw exception message giving internal server error on live site

using vb.net/asp.net 2005

when a user enters a bad email I am doing a check on this and throwing an exception message as follows, this works fine on the test site but for some reason the same code on the live site gives a "internal server error" (http code 500).  The code below:

            If isThisEmailValid(strEmailThatTheUserEntered) Then
		'do something

Throw New Exception("You entered a bad email address.")

            End If

not certain why this is happening, I assume that it's some server or config difference between the test and live sites.  has anyone seen this before?  For a quick fix i'm registering javascript alert and showing the same text so it works but I would like to figure out why the code above is not working.

as always, thanks for your feedback

How to make a news site like SharePoint 2007?

I want to create a site with news, in the way like SharePoint 2007, with a list of news on the main page (title, image, and short description).

What template I must chose or what is the way?

Thanks a lot!

News feed: site template?

I'm looking to create a top-level site for a site collection (an intranet) in SharePoint 2010. The top-level site is initially (first version) supposed to contain an intranet news feed as well as some links (to external sites and whatnot). Later on (later version), it is desired to add personalization to this site - i.e. user-centered content and the ability for the user to customize the "Home" page to some extent (the News feed should always appear), etc.

I am a bit confused, or rather unsure, of what site template to use?

I have experience of developing Web Parts (primarily what I've been working with in the SharePoint 2010 platform), but very little experience of setting up sites using as much out of the box functionality as possible. Based on what I've read there was a suitable site template available in SharePoint 2007, but I'm yet to find one for SharePoint 2010. At the moment I'm considering to set up the News feed using the Content Query Web Part. Thankful for any suggestions, tips or hints.

Changing the graphics on the home page of a SharePoint site

When you create a site in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services by using the default Team Site template, the home page includes two default graphics. A Windows SharePoint Services graphic appears in the body of the page, and a picture of a house in a circle appears near the site title. You can change these graphics to customize your site. Changing the smaller graphic requires a Windows SharePoint Services compatible Web page editor

Take a tour of your SharePoint site

What is a SharePoint site for?
A SharePoint site is a Web site that provides a central storage and collaboration space for documents, information, and ideas. A SharePoint site is a tool for collaboration, just like a telephone is a tool for communication, or a meeting is a tool for decision making. A SharePoint site helps groups of people (whether work teams or social groups) share information and work together. For example, a SharePoint site can help you:

Coordinate projects, calendars, and schedules.
Discuss ideas and review documents or proposals.
Share information and keep in touch with other people.

Six easy ways to customize your site using Web Parts in SharePoint

Becoming familiar with Web Part customization techniques gives you a range of page-customization choices. For example, you can customize your site's home page so that it displays the specific information that your team needs. You can rearrange the list items on the home page, add lists, and even change the images on the home page. As you become more familiar with Web Part Page customization techniques, you can build interactive Web Part Pages that makes the data in lists more dynamic and useful, and you can add new Web Parts that provide access to external data and Web services.
