I have a web application on IIS that will authenticate using windows authentication (Active Directory). So when they access the application http://iisserver/webappname/ it ask for username pwd and domain. (currently working)
How can I get information of the authenticated user in the web app through c#?I use "Page.User.Identity.Name" but it helps me only with the name. Is there anyway to get more properties of the user(like organizational unit for example) or group ?

How can I get information of the authenticated user in the web app through c#?
Many applications need to store user-specific settings to be persisted between sessions. But how do you go about saving and restoring these settings in your Microsoftî . NET Framework-based application? It's not all that easy to find the correct answer.

Please guide me how to store user rigths inforamtion in asp.net MVC Application
Here my User permission information look like
UserID LoginID UserName Page Permission Role
1 firstname.lastname@example.org Mohammed Askar Quote Edit Admin 1 email@example.com Mohammed Askar Quote Delete Admin 1 firstname.lastname@example.org Mohammed Askar Quote Verify Admin
2 email@example.com Mr. X Quote Cancel &nbs
So I have a fairly simple web site which allows an Administrator to edit some data in a database which is displayed on some web pages.
The main navigation on the site is shown in the code snippet below. The Admin link goes to a Login.aspx which allows the Administrator to log in - once authenticated they get sent to the data edit page.
So my question is, how could I dynamically add a link to the data edit page in the <ul> list below once the user is authenticated ?
This would allow the authenticated user to see links to the secure pages in the main navigation bar.
<%--Top Navigation Menu --%>
<li><a href="times.aspx">Times & Fees</a></li>
</div><%--End of topMenu Container--%>
<div id="clear"></div><%--Floats items cleared End of Master Page--%>
What is the best way to keep track of user specific information?
I want to show information in querys etc based upon specific properties, for instance a users belongs to a dealer, and that dealer has an ID.
So is it a good way to store that dealer ID in a session variable or should I consider a other option to use this on multiple pages.
Does anyone have good thoughts about this?

SQL Server 2008 R2 with the latest CU floods event log with "An exception occurred while enqueueing a message in the target queue. Error: 15404, State: 19. Could not obtain information about Windows NT group/user 'Dev\Administrator', error
Domain controller is located on the same server (Win 2008 R2), this is SharePoint virtual machine. There are no DNS or Directory Service errors.
How can I troubleshoot this?
I moved a site collection (content db) from one domain to another. After the site collection was restored i ran the stsadm -o migrateuser -oldlogin -newlogin. The result was that the login id of the user in the source domain was replaced with the
login in the destination domain.
However the rest of the properties in the User Information List (paricularly interested in the Email) was not updated.
How can i get all the properties in the User Information List with values in the new domain
Thanks in Advance
I have very interesting situation over here and unable to understand what is going on behind the scene. There are two senarios as follows
1) Production server that host the site restored from old WSS on the MOSS---- when i go to the Peoples and Group and click on the user name and then click on the edit profile I am presented with the from where i can edit the profile information but
according to the theory this should not happen if MY Site is Enabled
2) Production server that host the fresh site on MOSS--- when i go to the Peoples and Group and click on the user name and then on the edit profile I am presented with the page that contains the domain name and user name means i cannot edit the profile as
expected according to theory.
Both the server are two different WFE but has the same databse server. Please help me to solve this mistry.
