Sharing value from child control to parent control.

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I am relatively new to this, but here is my problem.

I have a parent and a child control. Within the child control I have a dropdown list. Based on dropdown list's selected value I would like to toggle Visibility of Panel in parent control. For instance if I select Show in child control dropdown list, I need to pass true to parent control to make Panel visible and vice versa. How should I do that. I have read that can be done via the event handling and have seen certain scenarios but I am not clear on that. Please help!

Propagate child event to a parent control in a user control

I developed a user control with using a picturebox and a label in .net.  Then I create an instance of the user control in a form. Here I wish to add an click event handler for that user control. I want to use only one click event handler for that control not for every controls (eg: picturebox ,label). Even an user click on a label ,picturebox or the form container, an UserControl_click event will be fired. How can I accomplish this?

GridView control to show master-child or master-slave data, written in c#, asp.net

I previously made a master slave datagrid using Visual Studio 2003 .Net (original article) that would allow users to show data to clients using collapse and expand features. These features however did not carry over to gridview for many users. This tutorial will explaing how to create a collapsable/expandable gridview in frameworks 2.0 and higher

Removing a (child) user control from an observable collection

Hey all, so I have an ObservableCollection of UserControls.  These user controls have their own xaml and each of these has some type of "Close" button so it would be removed from the ObservableCollection. A groupbox is binded to the ObservableCollection so it would show all the UserControls.  When a user clicks on the "Close" button, the user control is removed from the ObservableCollection and thus, the groupbox.  How can I do this?  I've tried something like   (this .Parent as ObservableCollection<asdf>).Remove(this );   where asdf is a UserControl but I get a bunch of compiler errors.

How can I register a name for a control that is an ItemsControl child?

Hello, How can I register a name for a control that is an ItemsControl child? When I create the controls dynamically in code, the RegisterName works just fine.  However, when those same controls are created by the ItemsControl XAML, RegisterName does not work. Here is the XAML which correctly generates what I want: <Canvas Name="Tab_CanvasTabs"> <Canvas.Resources> <local:CategoryTabs x:Key="myTabs" /> </Canvas.Resources> <ItemsControl Name="Tab_ItemsControl" ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource myTabs}}"> <ItemsControl.Template> <ControlTemplate TargetType="ItemsControl"> <ItemsPresenter /> </ControlTemplate> </ItemsControl.Template> <ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsPanelTemplate> <Canvas /> </ItemsPanelTemplate> </ItemsControl.ItemsPanel> <ItemsControl.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <DataTemplate.Resources> </DataTemplate.Resources> <Canvas Name="Tab_Canvas_X" Tag="{Binding Path=Number}" MouseLeftButtonDown="Event_CategoryTab_Canvas_MouseLeftButtonDown" MouseLeftButtonUp="Event

Slightly different issue: SetFocus from control to WPF parent window in C#...

I've just spent about an hour seaarching for something that should be easy to find with the question: How to set focus on a WPF window.

I have a StatusBar item. When the mouse leaves that item, I need to set the focus back to the StatusBarItem's parent window.

I've tried everything I can think of.  Sorry to be so dense, but I am still a WPF/C# newbie.

Please advise.

Fill dockpanel with child control

Hi, I have a win forms program which I am trying to write in WPF. I have a DockPanel which is 800x600, and inside that I want to add 1 child control at a time to fill the available space. In winforms this worked by just setting the item to Dock fill. I have set the dockPanel to LastChildFill, the problem is the child control I am trying to add is 400x300. In Winforms this was automatically increased to 800x600, and this is what I am trying to achieve with the dockPanel, but I am not sure how.

If I remove the height and width that are set in the control, then this does fill as expected. So is there anyway to get the dockpanel to override the child controls size, and make sure it fills the available area?
