I get the following when I try to manage access rules in the ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool.  Does anybody have idea why this might be anf how to fix?

An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again.

Hi,

How can I catch this exception? I do not want it to stop my page execution. Can/Should I do that?

Dropdownlist posted back html content, firefox alarms "Invalid postback or callback argument"

Ok probably you might have seem a dozens of post's titled "Invalid postback or callback argument" but this one is different.

Application that i am creating is simple content editor using the FCK editor.net Control (the content is HTML Encoded before saving t0 DB and then Decoded back again when displaying). just a simple drawing of of its ui is like this

DdlPages < listing the pages Whose regions/controls value can be edited> Databound

DdlRegions <listing the controls whose content can be edited> Databound on DdlPages selected index change

===========Retreived from DropDownlistRegions selected Index Change===========

txtName <a simple name for the region, user friedly identity >

==> FCK Editor <==

<Save Button> <Discard Button>

=================End===========================

I am not such a good designer but hope you understand the UI layout.

This thing works flawless on IE 6,7,8

Process:

DropdownlistRegions holds the content to be displayed in the txtName and FckEditor. This is done by forming a custom concatenated column containing the txtName and Fckeditor(HTML content) separated by a ' ^ ' character. and then databound the column to the Dropdownlist value property.

So on selected index chang

Invalid postback or callback argument (using Cascading dropdown list controls)

 Greets,

i use cascading dropdown lists (in a user registration form) and when the user hits the submit button i get the error:

"Invalid postback or callback argument"

I've seen on the net that this is a problem dating back many years but still haven't found a solution to this.

I've read about changing EnableEventValidation to false, but this poses a security risk.

Anyone knows a good solution to this? (i'm coding in c#)

Thanks

Is there a good way to test and debug these errors.  I constantly get them emailed to me from my production site but I can not duplicate them.  Below is the entire error.

What does this error mean?

I get it sometimes when I click on this link button. Most of the time it works fine, but I am not able to figure what causes this error.

Invalid postback or callback argument

Hey Guys.

I'm having this wierd issue I hope you could help me with.

I have two drop down lists in my page, and an accordion.

When a value is chosen for the first DDl it loads specific values from my database into the second ddl.

I've put the second one inside an Update panel, and added the first DDL as AsyncTrigger, so whenever someone chooses a value from the first DDL it loads the second one without refreshing the page.

After a value has been chosen for the second DDl the accordion should be populated with data.

I've ran some tests and noticed that choosing a value from the second DDL won't populate the accordion, so I've added another PostBack trigger to the second DDL- the ddl itself.

Sometimes it works fine- I choose a value from ddl2 and the accordion shows fine, but sometimes I get this error message:

Invalid postback or callback argument.  Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page.  For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them.  If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptM

Hi, I am new to VWD and i am trying to use the Provider Configuration in the ASP.net Web Site Administration tool to configure my Web site management data. I have the aspnet_regsql to create a DB, my IIS is already installed and enable but the VWD ASP.net Web Site Administration tool refuse to connect to my SQL DB.What may be the problem and how can i rectify it.Thanks

I have just installed Visual Studio 2010 trial. Previously I have been using Visual Studio Web Developer 2010 Express. Now every time I try to invoke the ASP.net Cofiguration tool either via the icon or through the Project File Menu item, I get the error message "An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again." I am trying to develop a bog standard Silverlight Business Application. There are no other diagnostics. Is there anywhere I can look for more clues or anything else to do to alleviate the problem? or is this something peculiar to the trial version I am using?   I also think it might have something to do with the fact that I have created this Silverlight Business App on a directory on my D: drive and not the normal, default c: drive path and maybe the web sit admin tool is looking somewhere else. Could this have something to do with it? If so what is my remedy?   Help please.....

Cannot Access Security Tab in ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool

As the title suggests, I am having difficulties accessing the security tab. The error I keep receiving is "Unable to connect to SQL server database." I try to choose a data store and the only option I am given is AspNetSqlProvider. When I click "Test," it tells me to launch aspnet_regsql, configure the database, then come back and try it again. After configuring it to use AspNetSqlProvider, I still get the same persistent error.

I am using Visual Studio Team System 2008 and SQL Server 2005. Any help is appreciated.

A Simple XML-driven Tool: Monitor Your Web Site's Activity with COM and Active Scripting

This article describes a simple Web site monitoring tool built with XML, JScript, Windows Script Host, and COM objects. Although it is not intended to replace complete Web site monitoring software products, it has many useful features that help to keep Web servers up and running. An XML configuration file specifies which Web sites to monitor and the actions to be taken if the site isn't functioning properly. In addition, the tool can be scheduled to run at any specified interval using the Windows Task Scheduler. Functions that probe the sites, log events, and send e-mail notifications are written in JScript.

Turning off Crawling the Central Administration site?

There are 2 places that "Search Visibility" can be set on WSS3 servers:

Default > Site Settings > Search Visibility

Central Administration > Site Settings > Search Visibility

What are the ramifications of "hiding" the Central Administration site from search?

Web Site Admin Tool - cannot establish connection

Hello,

I have a question with this tool.  I have a database listed in the App_folder, and the database has a connection in Server explorer.  The connection string is listed in the web.config file, and I am able to add users and roles with the Web Admin Tool.  However, when in the Web Admin Tool, under Configuration tab, I receive an error when I click on the "test" button.  The error reads

" Could not establish a connection to the database.
If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider."

How can this be, and how do I correct this?

thanks

I have defined a new master page and set it as default for the main site.  Any time I create a new subsite it does not apply the new master page and defaults back to the default.master.  The Site Master Page Settings shows this error. The site master page setting currently applied to this site is invalid. Please select a new master page and apply it The system master page setting currently applied to this site is invalid. Please select a new master page and apply it. Now if I select "Inherit site master page from parent of this site" and "Inherit system master page" and click ok the site will use the new master page and everything is fine.  There is only one modification to the master page that was done so I know the master page isn't invalid.  Does anyone know the answer other than recreating the new master page.

Sharepoint 2010 Multi-Tenancy Access Denied on Tenant Administration Site

Hi, I am currently implementing a Sharepoint 2010 Multi-Tenancy solution. Multi-tenancy is the partitioning of service applications in 2010 to allow data to be separated between web applications or site collections. I am using multi-tenancy to separate data and user profiles between site collections hosted on a single web application. I have partitioned the User Profile Service Application and Proxy using Windows Powershell. The paritioned Proxy Application is then associated with the single web application. I am also using the Sharepoint Foundation Subscription Service Application to subscribe to different site collections within the web application. In this way data and user profiles can be separated. However, the tenant administration site, used to manage each collection, does not allow administrator access to manage the User Profile Service. I receive a standard Sharepoint 'Access Denied' error message. No other errors or details are provided. I have tried assigning different accounts to the tenant administration site but the error still appears. The issue arises when I issue the following SPSite Powershell cmdlet: NEW-SPSite -Owneralias DOMAIN\Username -Secondaryowneralias DOMAIN\Username. The attributes provided in the Cmdlet above are used to assign tenant site administrators however, the accounts cannot access the User Profile Service. Any ideas or recommendati
