code SQL to populate gridview with multiple random list box selections, How to

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I could use some help in coding a query.

I have a list box that allows for multiple selections (holding down the control key) the selection quantity is basically unlimited, but realistically should never be more than 50 to 100 items from the listing of about 3000 items.

I need to collect the list of selected items from the drop down list and retrieve each of their full records from the item master and populate a gridview.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again,

I have a list box that allows for multiple selections (holding down the control key) the selection quantity is basically unlimited, but realistically should never be more than 50 to 100 items from the listing of about 3000 items.

I could really use some help building the SQL statement to select the choosen record data. I think I have the selection list worked out by populating an array but I am not clear on how to build the SQL query.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have set up the sql data source and everything and my like operator is this...

Filtering with Multiple selections (Checkbox list control)

I have a scenario where there is a large list of 2000+ items, these items each have a name associated to it.

I now need to be able to filter this list by selecting the names from a Checkbox list, the problem is I cannot figure out how to get it to work when multiple values are selected.

The current setup is Using a DVWP to display the items a Datasource control of all the names and then the ASP.NET Checkbox list control to act as a filter

Can anyone help?

Can I populate a the drop-down list of a report parameter by custom code

Hi there,

I have a custom assembly that returns an Arraylist and I am wondering if I can populate the drop-down list of a particular parameter by this list. To me, it seems that I can either have static values for such a drop-down list or that I can query the items from a dataset. However, I do not see how I can populate the list using custom code.

Best wishes

How to populate drop down list inside fromview using code?

Gents,

I have formview to read US cities as following:

- I use label to read the values in <ItemTemplate>

- I use dropdown list to read values in <EditItemTemplate> and < InsertItemTemplate>

When the formview get loaded it’s read all values properly, but when I move to edit or insert mode the dropdown list give me this error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Could anyone help me with example of code (Note: I use the code to fill the dropdown list instead of SqlDataSource )

Thank you in advance,

Adding Multiple Columns and Rows in GridView without using a Database

This article describes on how to add multiple columns and rows in GridView without using a database. Basically the GridView will be populated with data based on the values entered in each TextBoxes on Button Click and retain the GridView data on post back.

GridView Multiple Filter AJAX Control

This AJAX control enables the user to filter data within any column inside a GridView. The user can add multiple filters and can delete existing ones too.

Gridview with a dropdown list for editing

Hello. I am working through Scott Mitchell's ASP.Net in 24 hours book. I am finishing the photo album project.

I have a GridView that retrieves a list of uploaded photo rows for the logged-in user.
The GridView is for editing and deleting rows.

The photo Category field in the Gridview is a dropdown list. The text entry field was deleted after converting this field to a Template.

Like the uploaded photos, these Categories are user-specific. They are created in another web page.

Users also have the option to select "none" for the category when they upload an image.

For the GridView:  The Category ID field's ItemTemplate and EditItemTemplate both have a " - None - " choice added to them.

I am getting this error:

'pictureReadOnlyCategories' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value

Note: The ID for the ItemTemplate for that dropdown list is the ID listed above in the error: "pictureReadOnlyCategories".

Am I missing some step in this process of changing a GridViews text field to a dropdown that can be used for editing? I went through the book's instructions three times.

Here is my code for the dropdown list and a screenshot of the Design

Format Generic List Bound to Gridview

I have a generic list of a custom type. The custom type has a string and double.

I'm binding the list to a gridview and it outputs everything fine.

I'm trying to format the double column into a currency format. It is in a template field as I'm calculating a running total. I pass the value to a function that returns a double and adds the current value to a running total which I will show in the footer.

The format is not changing to currency as expected when using String.Format("{0:c}", GetTotal(Convert.ToDouble(Eval("Amount"))))

Any ideas on what might be going on and how to fix this?

Thanks!

Editable multiple nested gridview

Greetings everyone,

I've got this page where I display a 3 level nested gridview. First gridview displays data, 2nd one displays data based on the 1st one's row and 3rd one displays data based on the 2nd gridview. All of this works perfectly, including the edit mode for the 3rd gridview.

The issue comes when I make each gridview collapsible, again, it works fine but when I click on "Edit" on the 3rd gridview all the grids collapse, I can then re-open them and the "edit mode" is still present and I can still save my updated data. But that collapsing thing is quite annoying.

I based a lot of my code from this page: http://www.codeproject.com/KB/webforms/EditNestedGridView.aspx

And I understand how I can fix my issue on a 2 level nested gridview, by simply adding the C# code:

protected void GridView2_RowEditing(object sender, GridViewEditEventArgs e)
        {
            GridView gvTemp = (GridView)sender;
            gvUniqueID = gvTemp.UniqueID;
            gvEditIndex = e.NewEditIndex;
            GridView1.DataBind();
        }

This makes allows me to save the index and prevent it from collapsing when I'm editing. Unfortunately, because I'm actually editing the 3rd gridview, if I code:

GridView Code Suggestions

Hello,

I have a gridview which displays data from a database.

Everything works fine, the thing is that I haven't come with a method to do the next thing:

The gridview displays something like this:

Client - Total - Percentage

Ex1      1000    20%

Ex2      2000    40%

Ex3      1000    20%

Ex4      500      10%

Ex5      500      10%

This data might vary depending on the month selected etc etc....

What I want to do is that the gridview kind of check its rows and start summing the percentaje, when it sums 80% I want to color the rows that sum the 80% to one specific color then the rest of the rows  leave them with the default color or change it too.

I'm thinking that I might be able to do that with the row data bound event, but I just can't find the answer to do it, I know how to iterate through the rows to sum the values but then how I can tell it to stop if it reaches 80% and color the rows that completed that 80%.

Another thing, the rows that complete this 80% of course have to be the ones with the greatest percentages. In the example above it would be Ex1, Ex2, Ex3. That 80% percent can
