SELECT failed because the following SET options have incorrect settings: ANSI_PADDING

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

I come across the following error message quite frequently whenever I have to reinitialize any of the subscribers. Even though I know how to resolve it but always wondered why it would be produced at the first place as offending script is auto-generated by snapshot agent.

Error messages:

SELECT failed because the following SET options have incorrect settings: 'ANSI_PADDING'. Verify that SET options are correct for use with indexed views and/or indexes on computed columns and/or query notifications and/or xml data type methods. (Source: MSSQLServer, Error number: 1934)

As a resolution what I have to do is to go to snapshot folder and update sch file for the offending table; i.e; change SET ANSI_PADDING from OFF to ON in sch file and it resolves the error message. What I have observed, though, that ANSI_PADDING is always off for those tables which contain only numeric data types. That is how I suppose it should be as I

A call to SSPI failed: The target principal name is incorrect - How to ignore this Security Check

I find that I am getting this error since I am using the netTCPBinding. I don't get this exception when the client and server are on the same machine, but when they are on different machines, this exception occurs. If I set the identity on the end point as mentioned in the article: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/drnick/archive/2007/11/08/setting-a-user-principal-on-the-endpoint.aspx it is working fine.   So my question is , should the service end point always have an identity when using netTcpBinging? I tried setting Security.Mode = None and still I got this identity exception. is there any way through which I can ask the service to ignore the SSPI details and accept client request?   Thanks!

web.config has incorrect settings for the requestFiltering element

HI! When I upgrade from wss 3.0 to sharepoint foundation 2010, i find this error and the error is shown below:

Web.config file has incorrect settings for the requestFiltering element.

The requestFiltering element in web.config must have the allowDoubleEncoding attribute set to true in order to support file names with the + character in them. Also, it must have a child requestLimits element with the maxAllowedContentLength attribute set to 2147483647 to avoid interfering with file uploads.

Ensure the requestFiltering element exists in web.config, that its allowDoubleEncoding attribute is set to true, that it has a child requestLimits element, and that its maxAllowedContentLength is set to 2147483647. For more information about this rule, see "http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=163442".

In the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\CONFIG\web.config, the maxAllowedContentLength is already set to 2147483647.

Does anyone have any idea?

Thanks.

Failed to connect to database settings

In a Windows Server 2003 the SharePoint 3 don't run the configuration appropriately after the basic installation. At step 2 of configuration appears the message 'Failed to connect to database settings' (the installation is in Portugues so I free translate the message).

In that server I have a SQL Server 2008 Express (SERVERNAME\SQLEXPRESS) and the SharePoint was removed a few months ago and now I need a fresh installation.

The log is too big to post here but the main messa is 'A exception of type System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException... access to module dbo.proc_getObjectsByClass is blocked because the signature is not valid.'

MOSS 2007 Shared service provider failed (SSP) in "Search settings"

I click on "Search settings" in SSP then the following error: "The search service is currently offline. Visit the Services on Server page in SharePoint Central Administration to verify whether the service is enabled. This might also be because an indexer move is in progress. ".

My SSP work fine last time, but for now it fails in "Search settings". I checked very carefully.

   Office Sharepoint Server Service (OSSS) is started, "Index Server Default File Location" in OSSS is D:\MOSS_index.

   "Path for index file location" of SSP is D:\MOSS_index with full right permission is ok and shared. But i checked folder D:\MOSS_index and folder   D:\MOSS_index is empty, guid folder in D:\MOSS_index was lost.  I checked "Search Administration" in SSP and found that "Items in index" is 0 and "Crawl status" is error, "Default content access account" is error.

What Do the Different Printer Options using Windows Mobile Pocket Pc

Select Printer Options:
bullet Printer: Select the printer to print to. Some printer selections work for a variety of printers, such as the "HP PCL" selection which prints to most Hewlett Packard DeskJet, LaserJet and compatible printers.
bullet Port: Select between Infrared, Bluetooth, Network printing and Serial (COM1-COM8). Most Windows CE devices only have Infrared and COM1 and need special attachments to use the other selections. USB printing and printing across an ActiveSync connection to a desktop printer is not supported.
NOTE: On many Pocket PC devices, you CANNOT use the serial and infrared ports at the same time. This means that if your device is connected to your desktop PC using the serial Sync cable, the Infrared port will not work. You must disconnect the serial connection to use Infrared printing.
bullet Color/Mono: Select Monochrome (Black & White) if your printer is not a color printer (or if you wish to print in mono). If your printer has color capabilities AND has a black ink capability, select "4-Color CMYK". If your printer cannot hold both color ink and black ink at the same time, select "3-Color CMY".
bullet Paper Size: Select paper size for use. You can choose "Custom" and then set special paper sizes in the "Custom Paper" Width and Height boxes. For printers that use "roll" paper, you can set a maximum paper height of 22 inches.

Replacement options for Membership

Hi everyone,
     I tried to use Microsoft's Membership option for signing up new users and authenticating them on subsequent pages, but it has not worked very well. The biggest issue has been with the REMEMBER ME function. With this checked, I am randomly logged out in the middle of some functions and some pages always show me as not authenticated, while others properly show me as authenticated. I built a site based on VB.
I was wondering what other people are using ro register users and monitor authentication and also if anyone has had better experiences with other solutions.

Failed to create AppDomain

Recently updated my system to use Visual Studio 2010, and projects will no longer compile. All of them give the error "Failed to create AppDomain." Intellisense does not work either (except for standard HTML tags), and individual pages will also not compile.

Points of note:

  • All sites are hosted on UNC shares (although it doesn't work on a new site created on local drive either)
  • Language is mostly C#
  • No explicit code is creating AppDomain objects
  • Sites compiled fine under both VS 2005 and 2008 both before and after VS 2010 installation
  • Sites compile and run fine from the IIS server on the remote machines (one IIS 6, one IIS 7)

Things I've tried (some obviously shouldn't have any bearing on it, but I've tried just about everything that anyone suggested on any forum I could find, most of which seemed to apply to IIS, not VS):

  • renaming/deleting security.config
  • running caspol -reset
  • re-registering asp.net: aspnet_regiis.exe -ua / aspnet_regiis.exe -i
  • removing VS 2005, 2008, 2010, and then re-installing just VS 2010
  • adding the UNC path to the local intranet zone (internet options control panel)
  • adding the UNC path to LocalIntranet_Zone in the ASP.Net 2.0 control panel (runtime security policy/machine/al

helped needed: ASP LDAP authentication failed in IE 8

I use the following code to do the user authentication through Active Directory using LDAP.

try
{
entry = new DirectoryEntry("LDAP://" + server, user_name, password);
if (!string.IsNullOrEmpty(entry.Name))
{
EmployeeNetId = entry.Username.Substring(0, 3);

// Retrieve EmployeeId, and Employee Full Name
GetEmployeeId(EmployeeNetId);
}
}
catch
{
EmployeeId = -1;
}

It works for Chrome, Firefox with no problem. But with IE 8, it works sometimes, and failed on some computers. When it failed, I figured that I need to check SSL 2.0 in IE 8 Internet Options.  It's weird because in those computers that IE 8 works, SSL 2.0 is also unchecked.

Am I using some deprecated method? Or How do I specifiy the SSL version options in the LDAP connection?

WCF The Security Support Provider Interface (SSPI) negotiation failed

Intermittant error: "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respon

Greetings,

I'm having a doozy of a problem, and can't find a solution.  I have a WFC Web Service installed to a pair of servers, and accessed through a load balancer.  I am accessing the service from an ASP.NET client app, also via WCF.  The Client is not load balanced.

I'm getting an intermittant error:

I can reproduce this error with about 20% reliability if I execute the exact same page request on the client from 2 browsers at the same time.  When the problem occurs, the successful p
