Could not list tables from a DB when creating new ole DB source or ADO NET Source

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

i'm trying to add new database source to an data flow task, but it fails when i'm trying to select DB table.

Error message:

Could not retrieve the table information for the connection manager '....\.....'.

Field token out of range. (Microsoft Visual Studio)

Only way to select a table is write a table name to an parameter "OpenRowset"...

Before i have installed visual studio 2010 for .net development. Maybe this is an issue source?

Connecting a Sharepoint Custom list with an external Data-source

Hi I am planning to connect a Sharepoint Custom list with an external Data-source. External DB will be in Access 2007 format. More Information: I need a solution that we can connect our sharepoint list (one-way) to online db in a way that new  information is directly updated in the sharepoint list, whilst other info changed in sharepoint list  is not synced back to original value. Is there a way to solve this? -saumil

SharePoint List Source and Destination BIDS adapters not working for our sharepoint instance

It was with great anticipation I installed the SharePoint List Source and Destination BIDS adapters (from CodePlex, http://sqlsrvintegrationsrv.codeplex.com/releases/view/17652). Unfortunately, the adapters are not working for our MOSS sharepoint instance.  We're a DOD (department of defense) site, so the level of security may be higher than normal and may be affecting the adapters. The error message was lengthy and I couldn't copy it and paste here.  I did screen shots and put the complete error message at http://www.christianbahnsen.com/sharepoint_source_error_message.pdf If I can get this to work I think it would be very useful.  I'd played around with KPI Lists, but one cannot create an Indicator directly from SQL Server 2008 (cf. my related thread at http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/sharepointbi/thread/bcc95f65-012e-4b8a-8850-b03fb0f16b0f).  I was hoping that these adapters would provide a work-around by populating sharepoint lists that could be the source for KPI Indicators. As always, thanks in advance for any assistance. Christian Bahnsen

Sharepoint list as Report Data Source

My current environment is Sharepoint 2007 with SSRS 2008 in Sharepoint Integrated Mode. SSRS 2008 uses trusted authentication to communicate to Sharepoint 2007. Sharepoint 2007 is configured to use NTLM authentication (configured with a domain account). My settings within Central Admin are Authentication Type: Windows IIS authentication settings: Integrated windows authentication with NTLM. My question is: Do I need to configure Sharepoint to use kerberos to use Sharepoint Lists as a Report Data Source?

Data Flows in SSIS - Mapping Multiple source tables to Destination table **Newb question**

Hi I am new to SSIS and had a basic question. I have around 30+ tables in a db that needs to be migrated to a newer schema in the DB. The data flow task seems to be ideally suited for my requirement. My question is do I need to create 30+ different data flow tasks for this which will get executed one after the other or is there a better way to migrate large number of tables. Also how are referential constraints taken care of during such migration. Thanks and Regards, Ganesh Ranganathan

List box source updated, scroll into view

I have a list box with only item (a Image), its an observable collection , and that gets updated very often,

But if the previous source  was scrolled to the bottom,

 the new source is  also scrolled to the bottom,I want the new source to  scroll to the top evey time its changed

Ive tried scrollToview(currentItem) etc but  it doesnt seem to work

  ItemListForSlides bariatric_slides = new ItemListForSlides(bariatric, 1); // an observable collection

            if (ListBoxS != null)
                itemisdelcted = true;
                ListBoxS .ItemsSource = null;
                ListBoxS .ItemsSource = bariatric_slides;
                ListBoxS .Visibility = Visibility.Hidden;

Insert an item in a Lookup column's source List from the NewForm

When Lookup Column of a List does not contain a value in the DropDown menu can it be added/inserted into the source Lookup List from the NewForm without leaving the NewForm?

Is there code or example how to insert the Item in the source List, then refresh/repopulate the Lookup Column's DropDown menu (in the NewForm)?

SSIS - XML Source to multiple SQL tables(Master-Detail)

I've a scenario in which i need to map my xml file to multiple sql server tables, maintaining Referential Integrity.

Below is my sample xml structure

 <Hdr_ID>ID of the above record</Hdr_ID>

 <Hdr_ID>ID of the above record</Hdr_ID>

as u can see above, 1 parent record has 2 child records. So i need to save the parent record first, based on the ID which is generated automatically, i need to save my child records into the Detail table. I've searched everywhere in google, but couldn't get a solution yet.

(I had done this sort of thing in vb.net but now my job is to do it using SSIS)   :(

Can you gurus help me in achieving my task.

Thanks in advance.

Data View Web Part, update to Data Source / adding new list to existing data source

Hi all,

I have four Lists with identical columns :

List 1
List 2
List 3
List 4

I had to merge them, hence i created a data source ( Linked Source ) and merged these lists in SPD. I have used a data view webpart to display some columns from the merged lists data source and everything was working fine.

But now i have a new List : List 5 which also has the same columns like the other four lists and i need to update the data soure such that it is merged list of 5 lists not 4.

i updated the datasource property of the linked source to merge this new list as well. However the contents of List 5 dont appear in the data view webpart.

Am i missing something here ?

I dont want recreate the data view web part from scratch eachtime , because in future there might be List 6 , List 7 as well ...

Content Query result without link to source list

I've added a content query webpart to a page to show a multiple line text field from a list item. That works fine but the content is shown as hyperlink and if I click the content, the source item of the list is shown. I wanted to use the content query only to show the filtered content, without having the possibility to open the related item. Is that possible or is the content query webpart the wrong way to show content from different sources (lists) only as text in a page?

Copy and modify Data Source crashes SPD 2010 - List Threshold error

When I try to copy and modify a data source, I get a server error that the operation is prohibited because it exceeds the list view threshold, but I only have 10 items in my list, well below the default threshold.  I get the same error if I try to create a new page from master.  Anybody run across this one?

Confirmed the threshold with my administrator and even upped it to 10,000 but that did not help.
