Posted By:      Posted Date: October 11, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hi all,

Hoping you can assist please.

When transferring my SP list to Excel I'm facing a few issues:

- My look up column is not transferring over
- All the bullet points etc i have in rich text editor boxes do not transfer over

- Is there any way for calculated fields to still show when editing an item?
- Is there any way to 'lock' certain fields in a list item?

Hope you can help

Export SharePoint List to Excel Spreadsheet Programmatically using C#

But for data manupulation and analysis, Microsoft Excel provides very rich features as compared to SharePoint Lists. That's why people still loves to work on Microsoft Excel Sheets.

Exporting MOSS 2007 List to Excel 2007

When doing the export, the columns "Item Type" and "Path" are automatically displayed in the sheet.  Is there anyway to suppress these fields from exporting automatically?  I'm sure this has already been asked before, but I couldn't find anything after much searching (perhaps I'm using the wrong keywords).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cannot List SSAS Catalogs in Excel 2007

I am trying to access SSAS 2005 through excel on a client computer.  I get the following error message:  The data connection wizard cannot obtain a list of databases from the specified source.  It looks like I connect, but I cannot list any of the catalogs.  Both catalogs are migrated from a sql2000 database.    I ensured that the account has a browsable role through the roles in SSAS.  Interestingly if I create a UDL file with a connection to ssas and choose existing connections and specifiy the udl file I can access the specific ssas catalog.  In creating the udl file I cannot see the catalogs, but I can type in the catalog name which connects me and allows me to browse the cube using excel.  Unfortunatley, my users use other applications besides excel which don't allow access through udls.  Any help would be appreciated.

Excel External Table Data can only create new SharePoint List when Exporting from Excel?

I have a SQL Query that I refresh everyday in Excel. I want to be able to export this list over to a SharePoint list right after my refresh in Excel but I can only Export to a SharePoint list only once. If I try to export again to the same list then it will give me the error "The specified list name is already in use on this server. You must rename the list before publishing it to the server." I have web parts that have connections to this list and I do not want to export my Query to a new SharePoint list everyday. Does anyone know a way around this issue?

Pulling data from an Excel Speadsheet to a Sharepoint List

I have an Excel Spreadsheet filled with company phone numbers which I would like to pull into a Sharepoint List. I am unsure of how to go about this, as my only experience so far is using SQL statements for an Access Database to pull information from one location to another. I would also like this list to be searchable and sortable if possible. As another option, I have looked at Datasheet views in Sharepoint and it is possible that the data could be re-entered in here (will take a very long time though) but I unfortunetly also don't know how to export the data into a printable document from here. Any help with either option would be very much appreciated as I am quite new to Sharepoint! Thank you very much

Range or List Filtering via SSAS cube in Excel 2007

Hi All, A client has posed an interesting question, as current users of business objects webi they can filter the results of a cube/universe by copy and pasting a range or list of values seperated by a ';' into a list filter that is availble. e.g. product2;product533,;product029;product8389 etc etc. The list can sometimes be hundreds long. How is that same function acheived in browsing a ssas cube in excel 2007, all I can see is that a user has to use the drop down list and individualy select the values they want. This does not seem like a great method! Any ideas? They are using SQL / SSAS/ SSIS/ SSRS 2008 R2 Cheers DC

Can't export list to Excel - "You do not have adequate permissions..."

Hello, SP 2007 (, Office 2010, Win 7 Pro x64. When I try to export a list to Excel, I get this error: "You do not have adequate permissions to modify this list.  Changes to your data cannot be saved." SharePoint 2010 Export list Items to Excel, wrong url in iqy file

Hi, I have a SharePoint 2010 Environment that uses https://portal.<something>.com. Exporting to Excel of a list uses wrong URL. When I go to the a list, select the list to show the "office ribbon" and then select export to excel, excel will show the error "Excel cannot connect to the SharePoint List". When I take a look at the IQY file that is created it contains the wrong url: http://portal.<something>.com instead of https://portal.<something>.com Changing the URL in the IQY file manualy to https://portal.<something>.com and then opening it will excel is working fine, list data is exported to excel then. Alternate access mapping is configured to use https://portal.<something>.com as default, export to access is working normaly. I already deleted the http://portal.<something>.com alternate access mapping once to see if this fixes the problem. No fix, even not after IISreset or rebooting the server. Where or how is the export to Excel IQY file created and where is it possible to fix the URL it is putting in the IQY file? Grtz, Arjan

How to import two excel files into one list?

I know that I can export Excel data into new list in MOSS 2010 via Excel 2010. But when I was trying to add data into existing list, it was impossible. I know one way - copy data in Excel and paste it into the list in DataSheet View. Is there another way?

List exported to Excel 2003

We are currently in the process of moving our Sharepoint 2007 server from one farm to another and the URL is going to change.  We have a lot of users who edit and update their data using Excel 2003 ( Using the Export to Spreadsheet option ).   Some of these spreadsheets have multiple tabs  and VBA code  for processing the data and generating reports.  There is no menu option that lets us edit the query to make the change to the URL. Is there any easy way to replace the URLs of these queries to point to the new URL? Vijay

Excel 2007 Cubeset function needs to pull list based on part of field value (ie contains, wildcardin

I have a Cube with a field called 'Item Code'.  This field is six characters in length.  The first two characters differentiate what kind of product it is.  I am building my reports with cube functions.  I do not want to use a pivot table to retrieve the list by using the 'contains' or 'begins with' label filters.  Is there a way to use the cubeset function with left, mid, right functions?  I realize that it can be set up in the cube as a separate field, but I am not able to update the cube.  Below are my examples - 'All Products' and 'Product R3189S' work fine, but I need to retrieve 'Products starting with R3'.

=CUBESET("Financials Sales Cube", "[Product Dimension].[Item Code].[All Product Dimension].children", "All Products")

=CUBESET("Financials Sales Cube", "[Product Dimension].[Item Code].[All Product Dimension].[R3189S]", "Product R3189S")

= CUBESET("Financials Sales Cube", "[Product Dimension].[Item Code].[All Product Dimension].[R3****]", "Products Starting with R3")

Thank you in advance.

Create dynamic dropdown list when we export data to excel using SSRS.

Hi All,

I have assigned a work to create a report, that should render in excel with dropdown list. i.e. report should contain a input parameter as a table names, when user selects the table name, report should show only the field names of the selected table. Some of the field name have look up values that values should be displayed as dropdown when we export to excel.

Can any one have any idea how to proceed with this report?
