Apply custom.master to "Site Settings" page?

I'm using a custom.master page, which is applied to almost all pages available to READ users.

However, I'd like to apply it to the Search, Site Settings, and View All Site Content pages.

I'm not sure where this would be applied.

Guidance much appreciated. Thanks!

Sharepoint 2007 - Wiki site - New Pages Not Inheriting Custom Master Page

I am working on a SP site (MOSS not WSS) which is heavily customised away from the OOTB layout. I need to create a Wiki site, which was going well - I've created a master page which displays the miniconsole (this was not visible with our customised layout), and made it the default master page for the site. This has been applied to the two standard pages that come with the Wiki site, however when a new page is created, it seems to inherit the default.master, rather than my custom master page - thus not showing the miniconsole.

When I have created a new page, I am able to use SharePoint Designer to attach my custom master page to it, which works perfectly, however this will not be a viable option going forward as end-users create their new wiki pages.

How can I get the new pages to inherit my master page when they are created?

Unable to create columns in document library after applying custom master page to site

Hi, I have applied a custom master page to a site. There is a document library in it. I am unable to add columns in it or change the default view.Nothing happens when I click on OK butoon after making my changes. However the columns are created/default view is changed when I apply the default master page. Guess I am missing some TagPrefix or sharepoint control on master page.I had solved this problem earlier in this way but don't remeber it now. Can anyone help?

Retract custom master page feature and all site pages stop working

There is a requirement to apply custom branding on personal sites in a SP 2010 project. For this I have created a feature which uploads and applies the custom master page on creation of any new personal sites.   I have stapled this feature (using feature stapling concept) to the “SPSPERS” (personal site) site definition. The custom master page is displayed on the creation of new personal sites. On feature deactivation, I am looping through all the personal sites (as the feature is deployed on a team site) and pointing the master URL back to v4.master. But when I retract the solution and browse to the personal site, I am getting a “404 File not found” error.  But am able to view the settings page by typing the URL.   I activated the publishing features and looked at the master page applied to the personal site. It was pointing to v4.master.   Any help on this is appreciated. Regards, Neha

What's the "right" way to create a site template and inherit a custom master page?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but in 2007 whatever masterpage you had selected was saved in the site template and was re-created when a new site was created from said template.

It occurs to me that it's different in 2010.

Custom master pages from a site template aren't inherited and they don't keep the specified value when you ask it to before creating the template itself.

So, what's the "correct" way?  What's the difference in making a site template using a blank site or publishing site?

Here I thought I'd be able to make a site template and move on to my next project.

Thanks in advance!

Custom site definition with embeded master page

Hello All,
I am creating a custom site definition, which is based on STS site definition ( so my site is also a team site, just with the difference of name ). For that I have created a SharePoint 2010 site definition project in VS 2010. It works fine.

Now what I want to do is to create a custom master for this site definition. And I want to keep this master page in same project.  Can someone tell me how to do it ?

Note : I am adding a module to this project ( which adds a feature to the project, when there was no module, there was no feature in the project ). Next I am referring that feature in one.xml file under configuration->site feature node. I do not want to have a feature, I want it to be part of site definition. But can I embed in such way that every time a site is created based on my site definition, master page also get deployed to root site of site collection

Custom action to actions- menu on "manage content and structure" sitemanager.aspx page

Hi all

I need to add custom action to actions menu of document library when user is in "content and structure" and can multiselect items from doclib. (doc lib is active in left side)

Any ideas how to add that?

By default the Action menu contains items copy, move, delete|checkout, discard checkout, checkin, publish, unpublish

Other option would be to add multiselect support to doc libraries.

Thanks for the ideas in advance,

MOSS 2007 - Add "Email Page to Friend" feature to Actions menu or to site master page.

My Communications Director would like us to add an "Email this Page to a Friend" type of feature to our SharePoint 2007 Intranet.  They would ideally like to have this feature available on every page.  But I was thinking that even if we could add this item to the List Actions menu it would suffice.  Does anyone know of a webpart that will do this or can offer some custom code and instructions on how to make this happen?

Thanks

Sandra

Master Pages: Master Your Site Design with Visual Inheritance and Page Templates

Master pages in ASP.NET 2.0 solve a problem many Web developers have been solving on their own with a variety of techniques for years - providing a single master template for an entire site. This article covers the details of master pages, discussing their usage and implementation and how they are a natural evolution of custom techniques developers are using today.

Adding a custom ASP page to a sharepoint 3.0 site

I have a custom ASP page that I need to add to my sharepoint 3.0 web site.  I created a virtual directory under my website and placed the ASP file.  When I link to the ASP file, I get a 404 page not found.  To make sure I had the correct URL path, I created a test html file and placed in the same virtual directory and linked to it just fine.  I think it has something to do with managed paths and sharepoint trying to control this new ASP content.  I cannot figure out how to exclude this content from managed paths.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue so I can run this custom ASP file under sharepoint 3.0?

Thanks

How To Conditionally Show ListViewByQuery On Custom Page

I would like to only show a ListViewByQuery control on a custom page if the query contains some data. Currently if the query returns no data it is still rendered on the page with the comment "There are no items to show in this view".

The following code is my query code:

querySM.ViewFields = "<FieldRef Name='AssignedTo'/>" +
                  "<FieldRef Name='RequestSMReviewerComments' />" +
                  "<FieldRef Name='WorkflowOutcome' />";

        sQueryStr = "<Where>" +
                 "<And>" +
                  "<IsNotNull>" +
                   "<FieldRef Name='RequestSMReviewerComments' />" +
                  "</IsNotNull>" +
                  "<Eq>" +
                   "<FieldRef Name='WorkflowInstanceID' />" +

Programmatically Hide Master Pages from Site Master Page Settings page?

Hi,

I know there is a field you can check when you edit the properties of a Master Page in the Master Page Gallery to set a Master Page to hidden but ... can anyone think of a way to programmatically hide specific Master Pages from the Site Master Page Settings page?

Maybe this should be two questions:

  1. How do I programmatically access a Master Page in a Master Page Gallery?
  2. Is there a property that can be set that will hide the page from the Site Master Page Settings page?

How show the computer user into a label in a master page

Hello all, I'm creating a web site and I have this question, I installed a label with the name Userlbl in the master page, and the idea that I have, is when somebody opens the website, the label shows the computer's user, in my case Welcome: "Charly_csh" I tried with this code, that I used before in access and it works, when I load the page on the localhost, but when I load on the server, it shows NETWORK SERVICE The code is this: Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Userlbl.Load Dim wshNetwork As Object 'New wshNetwork wshNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network") Me.Userlbl.Text = wshNetwork.UserName wshNetwork = Nothing End Sub Does somebody have an idea???

The site master page setting currently applied to this site is invalid. Please select a new master p

I have defined a new master page and set it as default for the main site.  Any time I create a new subsite it does not apply the new master page and defaults back to the default.master.  The Site Master Page Settings shows this error. The site master page setting currently applied to this site is invalid. Please select a new master page and apply it The system master page setting currently applied to this site is invalid. Please select a new master page and apply it. Now if I select "Inherit site master page from parent of this site" and "Inherit system master page" and click ok the site will use the new master page and everything is fine.  There is only one modification to the master page that was done so I know the master page isn't invalid.  Does anyone know the answer other than recreating the new master page.
