In my SharePoint 2010 beta environment, I have user profiles synching with Active Directory. I just restored a content database from a separate environment/domain and logged in with my current account. When I try to create an alert on a library/item, I get the error:
“You do not have an e-mail address. Alert has been created successfully but you will not receive notifications until valid e-mail or mobile address has been provided in your profile.”
I went to My Profile and found that the My Profile had the right e-mail address (I guess because this is on my My Site Host).
But when I went to My Settings, it did not have any e-mail address for me (I guess this is because it is at the WSS content database level and the e-mail address hasn’t yet synched from the user profile database).
Does anyone the timer job that synchs the user profile with the My Settings for a site collection in a content database?Issue is posted to my blog with screenshots here:http://www.khamis.net/blog/Lists/Posts/Post.aspx?ID=22

I have a database that needs restoring to get a website up and running. I am not a ASP developer (am PHP) and therefore have never used SQL Server before.
I have just tried to import one of the tables from a .txt file using SQL Server Management Studio 8 and instead of the column names being inputed, it just has "column 0", "column 1" etc. I have noticed that I have a folder full of stored procedures, am I supposed to import these first? Im not 100% what these stored procedures are for or the best way for me to import all this data successfully as I have so many files it will take forever to import one by one. I dont mind doing it one by one if I have to but just want to ensure I do it all correctly first time!
I'm trying to restore a sql server 2k8 database from a .bak file. I've tried using two methods and both are unsuccessful. I've tried using the SMO classes and the error that I get is simply "restore failed for <serverName>". I also tried to simply run a query with the proper syntax for restoring a database. This runs but I get an error message that says the timeout expired. I tried extending the timeout through the connection string to 20 mins but it still fails within a minute.
This is my code:
private static void restore(string dbName, string fPath, string dataFilePath, string logFilePath)
Restore sqlRestore = new Restore();
BackupDeviceItem deviceItem = new BackupDeviceItem(fPath, DeviceType.File);
sqlRestore.Database = dbName;
SqlConnection sqlCon = new SqlConnection("Data Source=ServerName;initial catalog=master;Integrated Security=True;");
ServerConnection connection = new ServerConnection(sqlCon);
Server sqlServer = new Server(connection);
sqlRestore.Action = RestoreActionType.Database;
string dataFileLocation = dataFilePath + dbName + ".mdf";
SQL Server 2000, I need to restore a database, I've only the .mdf file, note that the database was not gracefully detached, so the sp_attach_single_file_db fails. Is there any other way?
