hi, i'm making this report from a sharepoint list. i want to add some of the fields as the parameters for the report. (e.g : Category, Department)
i tried to run the report, the parameters were shown as expected
but the problem is when i create a query in the dataset.
i'm using caml query builder for the query expression. it goes like this :

I've got an External List and I want to create a Site Column, which is Lookup to a column in my external list. If I tick any of the columns in 'Add a column to show each of these additional fields' and click OK i get the following error message:

I have been requested to create an Approval workflow for a list with 3 columns - Title, Category and Price. The Category field has 3 options - Minor, Moderate and Major.
If the Category is Minor the approval is sent to the Project Manager, and after approval it is sent to the Manager for approval.
How can I accomplish this using SharePoint Designer 2010? Can I modify the OOTB approval workflow, if yes how?
What other options do I have? This is really urgent.

We are finding that the second list using a field name from the first list that is defaulted does not take the field entry but uses the default when the record is created. The First list field does take the change and populate the record. We
need the second list to accept the field change in creating a new record.
i added a custom property to the user list and wish to display it. when i go to "user info list" > "list settings" > "edit view" i see 39 properties to choose from. how can i remove these default values and add my own
properties to the view.
I have created a custom discussion list definition using Visual Studio 2010 in SharePoint 2010. I had an issue, since by default, Visual Studio creates the custom discussion list definition as custom list. So, I have modified the my own Schema.xml with the
standard SharePoint discussion Schema.xml by adding views section.
Could anybody face this problem? Please suggest on how to resolve this issue.

In Sharepoint 2010 I have a Custom List with a column of the type 'Person or Group'.
I would like to have a default name for this 'Person or group' column.
So when a user creates a new list entry and leves the 'Person or Group' column value blank the list entry should be created with the default value für the 'Person or Group' column.
Is there a way to schieve this?

Suddenly sharepoint designer decided today that it doesn't want to insert a custom list form anymore...
To be more specific, it doesn't work anymore in a site that uses the Microsoft budgeting and tracking template. In a website that uses an out of the box template, it still works.
It did work before, because I did it in other websites using the same template (it's broken there as well now).
Why oh why does SharePoint refuse to do this now?

So my problem is, I can go to Insert > SharePoint Controls > Custom List Form
I pick my list, content type and form type, I hit OK and... nothing happens.
I have 1 dropdown in my sharepoint list with other columns. If dropdown value equal to 'xyz' i need to display some other controls, otherwise these controls should be hidden.
