Using ajax to submit and update form

Hi all,

  I'm new to ajax and not sure if it's necessarily the technology I need to accompolish what I'm looking to do. What I'd like to have is a simple two textbox and button form that let's the user submit some credentials (not for logging in) but instead to verify their identity for other purposes.  I would label the button as "Continue" and assuming it passes through, the form would update with some new data entry controls that would allow them to submit some final information.  I thought perhaps ajax would be a nice way to do this since I wouldn't need to create a second continuation page from the first to display a new form.  However, I'm unsure how it's possible to update the form in the first place to look different.  Or is there perhaps a cleaner way to do this?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks

AJAX update panel and update progress controls

I have writtena Crystal reports web application, that prompts ths user for parameters and then apply them and exports the report to a folder as .rpt and then display the report. I prompt the parameters on one screen and then display the report on another page. I have the AJAX update panel and update progress controls in the parameter page. When the user enters the parameters and click on ok, I export the report and then loads the report to a session report document and transfer the user to the second page where the report is displayed. I use the following code to do transfer to the seconds page. I have excluded the report load and parameter assign code here.rpt.ExportToDisk(ExportFormatType.CrystalReport, "c:\reports\testrep.rpt") Session("rpt") = New ReportDocument Session("rpt").load("c:\reports\testrep.rpt") Response.Redirect("show.aspx") In the second page I have the following: rptViewer.reportsource = Session("rpt") My problem is this works one time and then stops working the second. What I found out was it comes to the statement: Response.Redirect("show.aspx") But it does not even load the show.aspx page. It stays on the parameter page. There are no errors displayed. I could not see any errors when I debug the application also. And out of the blue it works

How to update selected item state in the list box by clicking a button?

I created a listbox menu to browse through content by clicking items in the listbox. I also created ‘back’ and ‘forward’ type of navigation to browse through the same content based on the browsing history. I load content into frame and accessing the browsing history with NavigationCommands.BrowseBack and BrowseForward Properties. It is working great. However, I need to indicate a selected state of the listbox item related to the content shown in the frame while browsing with Back/Forward buttons. I have a hard time binding that property. What is the correct way to bind selected state of the listitem in this case? Thank you in advance. XAML: Button <Button x:Name="NavBack" Content="" HorizontalAlignment="Left" Margin="20,0,0,0" Style="{DynamicResource BackButtonStyle}" VerticalAlignment="Top" CommandTarget="{Binding ElementName=ContentFrame}" Command="{x:Static NavigationCommands.BrowseBack}" SnapsToDevicePixels="True" IsEnabled="{Binding CanGoBack, ElementName=ContentFrame, Mode=OneWay}" > XAML: Listsbox <ListBox x:Name="Nav_ListBox" Margin="0,18,0,0" ScrollViewer.HorizontalScrollBarVisibility="Hidden" Background="#FFF2F2F2" ItemsSource="

Getting Selected Item in radiobuttonlist on content page using javascript

I am trying get the selected value from a radiobuttonlist on a content page using javascript. Here is my initial code, which does not recognize the control. The js is located in a separate file and there is a link on the content page pointing to the js file. C# WPF ListView: ListViewItem content will not update?

I am having a problem updating a listview item which I have bindings set. Here is my XAML code and behind code. Also, the DownloadProgress and DownloadSize do not update but when I debug I see the changes made under the DownloadProgressChanged delegate: mtitem.dlbtn.MouseLeftButtonUp += delegate { MTDLItem dlitem = new MTDLItem(); dlitem.DownloadName = mtitem.tbmusicname.Text; dlitem.DownloadProgress = 0; dlitem.DownloadSize = ""; WebClient wc = new WebClient(); Uri webaddress = new Uri(mtitem.MusicLink); if (mtitem.Group == "5") { } else { string songtitle = mtitem.tbmusicname.Text + @".mp3"; string fixtitle = songtitle.Replace("\\", ""); if (Properties.Settings.Default.CopyRightMessage == false) { if (System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show("GINtech Systems is not responsible for user applications of copyrighted music which may be in violation of existing local, state, or federal laws.", "MusicTuner Disclaimer", System.Windows.Forms.MessageBoxButtons.OKCancel, System.Windows.Forms.MessageBoxIcon.Exclamation) == System.Windows.F

IE8, AJAX and SSL - Solution to mixed content security warning!

 Hi everyone, I've searched this forum and the web for an answer to my problem, but haven't quite found the answer. My corporate site is using Asp .Net 3.5, AJAX and SSL to secure certain pages. The problem is that IE8 throws a message about unsecure content while IE7 and Firefox do not. I know this issue has been discussed ad nauseum (remember, I've done a lot of research), however, I have specifically isolated the issue down to adding the <scriptmanager> control on an AJAX page requiring SSL. With nothing else on the page (e.g. no images or script references), just a simple .aspx page, add <scriptmanager> and IE8 will display the message and IE7 and FF will not.  Based on my reasearch, the issue is most likely related to the scriptresource and webresource handlers, however, I don't know enough about the inner workings to do any good. Here's what I tried... Manually set the scriptpath property of scriptmanager to specify where to find the AJAX scripts. The scriptmanager uses the system.web.extensions assembly (which packages all the AJAX js), so I manually downloaded the library from ajax.asp.net site, copied the js files to a scripts directory and made reference in the scriptmanager directly.  Using Fiddler2, I could see that the references now appear to be SSL, and I know it was working because

Client Object Model : Transactional update of list and content types

I am using Silverlight client object model to code against Sharepoint. Essentially, what I want is that when a user clicks a button, An item needs to be added to a list and also a new content type has to be created. button1_click() { //1. Create an item in a list. //2.  Create a new content type. } Also this should be transactional:  only if item is added should the content type be added too, otherwise roll back both. (and vice-versa). My understanding of client object model is that we at the core we are talking to Sharepoint WCF services. So if I say, using(TransactionScope scope = new TransactionScope()) { ClientContext.ExecuteQueryAsync(); scope.Complete(); } can I assume that the updation will be transactional??

Problem with Update of Sharepoint Taxonomy Fields in custom developed Content Types

Dear all, we developed an solution on sharepoint 2010 for one of our customers with custom lists and content types with fields from the managed meta data store. As recommended we developed everything in features & solutions so that easy deployment is possible. Adding metadata to the termstore seems to work without problems, but today we stepped over an confusing issue: Our customer changed the default label of an term in the metadata term store, but the label did not change in listviews and detailviews of items in the specific sitecollection. In editview we see the correct label. After searching a while we discovered the connection between the sitecollection and the term store, the hidden Taxonomylist (/Lists/TaxonomyHiddenList/AllItems.aspx) in the sitecollection, which seems to map the terms. After testing we discovered that the term/label did also not change in the hidden taxonomy list. The Timerjob “Taxonomy Update Scheduler“ is running hourly with success and we also tried to start the job manually, but the label did not change in the hidden list. Also there are no errors in the logfiles in verbose mode. We also tested to create a managed metadata field manually, put it in a list and after that, changed the label. For whatever reason the update of labels on manually created fields works without a problem. Our lists, content types etc get created pr

Approval Workflow does not update the Content Approval status if started automatically

Hi,

I’m using a simple Approval Workflow associated with Content Approval on site pages. It works fine when I set it to be started manually (by using Allow this workflow to be manually started by an authenticated user with Edit Item permissions  option) and on the completion of the workflow the Content Approval status is updated accordingly. But when I set it to be started automatically (by using Start this workflow when a new item is created  / Start this workflow when an item is changed options), it does not updates the Content Approval status. Note that I’ve set the Update the approval status after the workflow is completed (use this workflow to control content approval) option to true.

How to use AJAX editor with HTML content?

I have a AJAX editor and I want to put the HTML content in a database and I want to get the HTML data from the database to put in the HTML editor, in HTML mode.

So I do:

Editor1.ActiveMode = AjaxControlToolkit.HTMLEditor.ActiveModeType.Html;
        Editor1.Content = MessageLabel2;

Editor1.ActiveMode = AjaxControlToolkit.HTMLEditor.ActiveModeType.Html;

Editor1.Content = data_from_database;

But what happens is that I get the HTML data from the database in designmode in the editor, so I have HTML in designmode and HTML to HTML in HTMLmode (and that is not what I want of course).

Of course I want only HTML in HTML mode and in designmode I want the normal text.

How can you do this and is this possible?
