Link/Connect SQL CE Table to Access MDB for VBA Code Processing

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
I'm hoping to connect an SQL CE file (main.dat) to an Access DB so I can run some vba code which:

1. Uses DAO to open a recordset (a table in the SQL CE DB)
2. Uses a field containing paths to mp3 files to extract the id3 tag data
3. Update an existing field from the same table/Same SQL CE DB

I've looked around and can't seem to find any ODBC driver(s) for SQL CE.  Got some info from Erik who suggested I post here.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT:  I just now was able to get Erik's code to work in Excel from my DB.  But I'm not sure how to send it back to the SQL CE DB from VBA... Is it possible?

Create/add table from code to database

I create table:

                  DataSet data=new DataSet();

                  DataTable myTable = new DataTable("NewTable");

                   DataColumn[] keys = new DataColumn[1];

                   // create column
                   keys[0] = new DataColumn();
                   keys[0].DataType = System.Type.GetType("System.String");
                   keys[0].ColumnName = "PointID";
                   myTable.Columns.Add(keys[0]);    &nb

Are You in the Know?: Find Out What's New with Code Access Security in the .NET Framework 2.0

Unlike role-based security measures, code access security is not based on user identity. Instead, it is based on the identity of the code that is running, including information such as where the code came from. Here Mike Downen discusses the role of code access security (CAS) in .NET and outlines some key new features and changes in CAS for the .NET Framework 2.0.

Return of the Rich Client: Code Access Security and Distribution Features in .NET Enhance Client-Sid

Rich clients employ many of the features and conveniences of the operating system they run on, and the list of these features has been growing since the dawn of the PC. But as apps have migrated to the Web, the trend towards increasing client-side functionality has ground to a virtual halt. There are several reasons for this; chief among them are security and deployment problems. But that's all about to change. With the .NET Framework, you can participate in building the distributable rich client of the future. In this article, the author enumerates the pertinent features of .NET that will allow you to build safe, easily deployable controls. The features discussed include managed code, code access security, versioning control, Windows Forms classes, and isolation.

Security in .NET: Enforce Code Access Rights with the Common Language Runtime

Component-based software is vulnerable to attack. Large numbers of DLLs that are not tightly controlled are at the heart of the problem. Code access security in the Common Language Runtime of the Microsoft .NET Framework addresses this common security hole. In this model, the CLR acts as the traffic cop to assemblies, keeping track of where they came from and what security restraints should be placed on them. Another way the .NET Framework addresses security is by providing preexisting classes which have built-in security. These are the classes that are invoked in .NET when performing risky operations such as reading and writing files, displaying dialog boxes, and so on. Of course, if a component calls unmanaged code, it can bypass code access security measures. This article covers these and other security issues.

Can not link from MS Access to SP admin lists

We have WSS3. I am a site collection admin. The SP server is at remote location at our vendor.

I can link from MS Access to all the cusom lists - lists created by users.

I can not link from MS Access to the admin lists, for example the Site Hierarchy list. This is https://mysite.com/_layouts/vsubwebs.aspx

I know this is a LIST. It has columns Site URL, Title, etc.

I need Read only access. How can I do it?

Connect to MS Access via OLEDB provider

I am attempting to use the 64-bit OLEDB Provider for Access found in the "Microsoft Access Database Engine 2010 Redistributable" to connect to and query an Access 2003 database that is on another server separate from my SharePoint server. I have not had any success making the connection. My SharePoint server is Windows Server 2008 SP2 and I am running MOSS 2007 (patched up to the April 2010 CU)

Here is the connection info in my Application Definition XML:

    <LobSystemInstance Name="LessonsLearnedDevOLEDB_Instance">
        <Property Name="AuthenticationMode" Type="Microsoft.Office.Server.ApplicationRegistry.SystemSpecific.Db.DbAuthenticationMode">RevertToSelf</Property>
        <Property Name="DatabaseAccessProvider" Type="Microsoft.Office.Server.ApplicationRegistry.SystemSpecific.Db.DbAccessProvider">OleDb</Property>
        <Property Name="rdbconnectionData Source" Type="System.String">\\server1\share1\Lessons.mdb</Property>

How to access the refrenced table fields in Ilist object of table MVC asp.net

I have 2 tables, master, detail. 1.master table have fields (id, username, plan)-->id is primary key (PK) 2. detail table have fields (srNo,id, worksummary, ... )--> srNo is PK.

I have created foreign key relationship from detail to .master table for "id" field.

the code is:

IList<detail> objDetail=new List<detail> ();
IList<master> objMaster = new List<master> ();
string[] sarray = queryFields.Split('|');//

for (int i = 0; i < sarray.Length; i++)
string[] sfields = sarray[i].Split(',');

if (sfields[0] != "")

objDetail.Add(new _detail { Id = count , modify = sfields[1].ToString(), verified = sfields[2], I});

I have problem to add fields in "objDetail" using Add method. But I am unable to access the reference field "Id" , rest of the field of detail table can be accessed using objDetail.

How can I access the "Id" field from objDetail object to add in IList.

InfoPath and Access - two parent tables and one child table

Hi there,

I'm trying to link an InfoPath form to an Access database, I want to connect the InfoPath form to 3 tables in the Access database but InfoPath will only recognise parent-child relationships in a series (e.g. the "Company" table is the parent to the "Customer" table, which is again parent to the "Orders" table)

I need to have two parent tables and one child table, though (e.g. "Customer" is parent to "Orders", but "Inventory_Item" is also parent to "Orders"). Is there any way to establish this in InfoPath? I'm using Windows XP, InfoPath 2007 and Access 2007.

Cheers, Patrick

Showing Designer error for Silverlight App when trying to access resource which contains code e.Resu

Environment is: Silverlight 4, VS Studio 2010. Designer is showing error in a Silverlight App when trying to access a resource as below. And there are no build or runtime errors. Extensive research found that, in the "InvestorsProvider" class I am using wcf services, which has a callback method. In the call back method I am using this statement "this.MyProperty = e.Result" where e.Result is ObservableCollection. If I remove the e.Result it is not showing any designer problem. <UserControl.Resources> <local:InvestorsProvider x:Name="investorsProvider"></local:InvestorsProvider> </UserControl.Resources> Here is the error System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException [Async_ExceptionOccurred]Arguments: Debugging resource strings are unavailable.
