Couple of soap errors on invoking a webmethod in ASPNet web services

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework

Hi there!!

I am consuming an ASP.Net webservice from a simple .Net application by
adding a web reference. However when I invoke the web method, we see a
couple of soap error entries in the application event log with the
result that the http request is not successfully completed.

We even tried to invoke the web method directly from the asmx page in
IE providing in the required parameters. We still get the same errors.

Please note this problem is intermittent and does not happend
everytime.

The following are the event log entries:

Soap error: XML Parser failed at linenumber 0, lineposition 0, reason
is: The download of the specified resource has failed.
Soap error: Soap client is not initialized.
Soap error: One of the parameters supplied is invalid..
Soap error: Loading of the WSDL file failed.

Sometimes we get a little different kind of event log entries as given
below:

aspnet_wp.exe  (PID: 2228) stopped unexpectedly.
Soap error: One of the parameters supplied is invalid..

Soap error: Loading of the WSDL file failed.

Soap error: XML Parser failed at linenumber 0, lineposition 0, reason
is:
The system cannot locate the object specified.

We fail to understand as to where is the problem. We can easily browse
to the wsdl file successful

Web Services: Extend the ASP.NET WebMethod Framework with Business Rules Validation

In an earlier article the authors showed how to build a custom WebMethods extension that provides XML Schema validation, a function that is lacking in ASP.NET. In the process they established a foundation for enforcing business rules during the deserialization of XML data. The technique, which is described in this article, uses declarative XPath assertions to test business rule compliance.In building this business rules validation engine, the authors integrate the validation descriptions into the WSDL file that is automatically generated by the WebMethod infrastructure. Finally, they demonstrate how to extend wsdl.exe, the tool that generates WebMethod proxy/server code from WSDL files, to make use of their extensions.

Web Services: Extend the ASP.NET WebMethod Framework by Adding XML Schema Validation

WebMethods make the development of XML Web Services easier by encapsulating a good deal of functionality, but there is still a lot of underlying XML processing that you have to be responsible for. For example, WebMethods do not validate messages against the implied schema. Because they are not validated, the response that's returned can result in unintended consequences. To address this, the authors extend the WebMethod framework by adding XML Schema validation through a custom SoapExtension class.

House of Web Services: Accessing Raw SOAP Messages in ASP.NET Web Services

Web Services exchange XML messages. Most of today's Web Service toolkits do their best to hide this fact from developers, by exposing a Web Service's behavior as method invocations against objects instead.

Web Services: Building Reusable Web Components with SOAP and ASP.NET

XML and HTTP are cross-platform technologies especially suited for building applications that can communicate with each other over the Internet, regardless of the platform they are running on. Web Services in the Microsoft .NET Framework make it easy to write components that communicate using HTTP GET, HTTP POST, and SOAP. An understanding of these concepts, along with knowledge of synchronous and asynchronous operations, security, state management, and the management of proxies by the .NET Framework is essential in building these applications. This article has been adapted from David Platt's upcoming book introducing the Microsoft .NET Platform to be published by Microsoft Press in Spring 2000.

Reporting Services in SharePoint integration - configurtion errors in 64bit version

Hi,

We have build an MOSS 2007 environment on 64 bit servers. We build the reporting services server and configured in SharePoint integration mode. Initially configuration looks fine with reporting services integration with green indicators.

After creating a web application and accessing the web site from the report servor, i have found the following errors:

Server Error in '/' Application.

SOAP Class and Web Services

I need access to the SOAP Class to make certain elements of Web Services available. However, I am getting some behavior I can’t explain. I have found two resources on the Microsoft site: Microsoft.Web.Services2.dll and Microsoft.Web.Services3.dll There are several MSDN references that refer to one or the other in their examples. However, when I try to use them, I have temporary success and then the system seems to forget them. I end up with a warning such as: Warning       1      The referenced assembly "Microsoft.Web.Services3" could not be resolved because it has a dependency on "System.Web, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a" which is not in the currently targeted framework ".NETFramework,Version=v4.0,Profile=Client". Please remove references to assemblies not in the targeted framework or consider retargeting your project.  I have placed the DLL in my WPF project directory. I go to the ADD reference menu, browse and add the dll, I have gone to the “My Project” screen and added it as a reference and added imports Microsoft.Web.Services3 to the module. Intellisense works for a while and even lets compile and run the program, and then without warning, it pops up with this warning, or sometimes it is an error that it can’t f

Permission Errors for Users on Home Page only of SQL Server Reporting Services Report Manager

I have spent days now investigating this problem, so any help very much appreciated! I have a remote web server 2003 running SQL Server R2 Express Edition with Reporting Services installed. I use Report Builder 3.0 locally to build report. If I login via Internet to Report Manager Web Page as an administrator I can perform all the expected and required actions, creating new folders and assigning permissions for users etc. I have added a new user "ReportUser" as a Browser of a child folder. If ReportUser longs on to home page, he receives the all too familiar error: User 'XXXXXXXX\reportuser' does not have required permissions. Verify that sufficient permissions have been granted and Windows User Account Control (UAC) restrictions have been addressed. However, if the user starts at the child folder of home page, and then logs in, he sees the expected page, and can run the report!  This is not very satisfactory. How can I allow user to see home page, without an error message, but not be allowed to click on any folders to which he is not entitled? I am now aware that SQL Server R2 Express Edition has many limitations compared with full Editions (fixed roles, cannot manage Report Service from Management Studio etc) , and many of the "solutions" offered on the web just do not apply.   John Walton

SSIS custom task calling web services response errors.

Hi             I have some code within a .Net 3.5 library which call a web service.  The web proxy class was created using WSDL command line tool.  Also the library is wrapped within .Net console, for testing the library works, and SQL Server Integration Services custom task, which is intended to use so that it will be part of the ETL process.    If I run the SSIS custom task and console application on a Windows XP everything works as expected.    However I am currently facing a problem where the response from the web service is not being interpreted correctly when running within the SSIS custom task on windows server 2008 R2, whereas the response from the web service is correctly understood when running the library within console application on the same server.    Has anyone come across this problem before or know any issues with SSIS and .Net libraries which call web services?

Web Service to inherit from a Custom Base Class that inherits System.Web.Services.WebMethod instead

Hi All,

Recently, I tried to get my Web Service class to inherit from a custom base class that inherits from System.Web.Services.WebMethod instead of the System.Web.Services.WebMethod directly.

However, I've been getting Error 500.

Public Class Service1
    Inherits BaseClass
    <System.Web.Services.WebMethod()> _
    Public Function GetSessionID() As String
        GetSessionID = Me.Session.SessionID
    End Function
End Class

public class BaseClass
    Inherits System.Web.Services.WebService

    public property Property1 as string
    public property Property2 as string

End Class

Please kindly assist.

Thank you in advance.
