How to view pictures in folders using Picture Library Slideshow Viewer Web Part

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I have a picture library with folders in it. When I use the Picture Library Slideshow Viewer Web Part, it does not show pictures that are in folders. Is there a way around this? I would really like to have just a couple folders with about 10 pictures in each that I can view. Any ideas?

Picture Library Slideshow Web Part

I have a picture library in a subsite, and I want to set Slideshow with these pictures on main site page. When I try to edit Slideshow web part, there is no picture libraries in it.

Do I have to put picture library in main site to be able to put slideshow on main page?

Issue with Picture Library Slideshow Web Part after export/import of site collection (SP2010)

I recently exported/imported an SP2010 site collection from Dev to Prod. The site collection had about 90 sites, which were all driven from a site template. Once the export/import had taken place, I created an additional 15 sites (in Prod), using the original site template that was created in the Dev environment. Everything seemed to be working just fine, but I found an issue with the Picture Library Slideshow Web Parts (PLSWP) on all the sites that were created in Prod. Basically, I have a Picture Library, and any pictures added to this library show up in the PLSWP. The original 80 site's PLSWP works fine, but the new 15 sites will not show the pictures through the PLSWP (the viewer just shows up blank). Here is the difference in the html output of the picture viewer:

Group by library name using Data View Web Part

I'm using a data view web part to disply documents in multiple libraries.  Is it possible to group on the name of the library instead of grouping on an individual column? Thanks

Speed Up Picture Library Slideshow transition?

I have a customer that's using the Picture Library Slideshow web part, but they want to speed up the transition time. I have to agree with them that the default fade in/fade out times are almost painful. Shouldn't both the transition type and time properties be exposed so an end user can adjust them? The only workaround I've seen for this is to use the Sliverlight Slideshow + container that's on Codeplex. Garth H MCITP BI 2008 MCTS: SQL 2005 & SharePoint 2010 http://bitinkering.spaces.live.com/

Content Query Web Part (CQWP) fails to show picture items from a document/picture library in an anon

I have a Picture Library and am trying to use the CQWP to display a list of items in the library.  The web part shows the items fine in authenticated mode, but it fails to show the items to anonymous users. Selecting pictures from a particular directory in the Picture Library.

Hi, Im trying to get the images from a particular directory in a selected picture library, I have seen the SPListItemCollection _pictureList.Folders but im not sure how to access actual contents of these items. Sorry this isn't terrible detailed but i haven't really got any snippets atm. Thanks in advance Courtney O'Sullivan.  EDIT: This is my code but i know its wrong,  SPFile file = folders.File; i think is the actual folder itself instead of the files in the folder. SPListItemCollection listCollection = _pictureList.Folders; foreach (SPListItem folders in listCollection) { SPFile file = folders.File; //if there is a directory set if (PictureLibraryDirName.Length > 0) { bool bFoundDir = false; //if we have a folder directory string dirPath = SPUtility.GetUrlDirectory(file.Item.Url); if (dirPath != null) { string[] dirs = dirPath.Split(new char[] { '/' }); if (dirs.Length > 0) { foreach (string dir in dirs) { errormessage += dir; if (dir.Equals(PictureLibraryDirName)) { bFoundDir = true; } } } } //and if the file belongs to a different directory if (!bFoundDir) { continue; } }

Thumbnail view for the sharepoint picture library

Document Library View - "Folders or Flat --> Show all items without folders" setting not being saved

A view of a document library has a setting under Folders area if the files should be shown in their respective folder or just a flat list of file. If "Show all items withtout folders" is selected, following is my observation:

- Saving the document library as a template and creating new libraries from this template takes this setting into the new library as expected
- Saving the site as a template and creating a new site from template removes this setting from the existing document libraries in newly created sites. If a new document library is created from the document library template, the setting is ON as expected.

This seems to be related to what being discussed here http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3574095/hiding-folder-structure-for-a-view-in-sharepoint-2010-list-definition and http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010programming/thread/05e46fc9-cb26-4d00-aaf0-e4b6ee944104

Any feedback?

Modify thumbnail view of Picture Library

Hi all,

I'd like to modify the thumbnails view of the Picture Library to display the Title field instead of the Name field but after hours and hours of searching the internet, I can't seem to find any information.

I'm fairly new to Sharepoint so if someone here can help that would be greatly appreciated.

RSS Viewer web part cannot view Sharepoint's own feeds?

Using MOSS 2007, if I want to view a list or a blog as an RSS feed using the RSS Viewer web part, it fails with the error "An unexpected error occured processing your request.  Check the logs for details and correct the problem."

(The misspelling of "occured" is not mine, that's how the web part displays the error message...)

I understand that the RSS Viewer web part cannot view authenticated feeds, but I have Kerberos set up (no double hop issues) and I am not using a proxy server, so shouldn't this just pass the credentials on from the client?

The only thing I see in the log file is:

Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.

Silverlight Slideshow Viewer for SharePoint

This series will walk through the Building Blocks that I have created to demonstrate and improve the SharePoint end user experience. I have been using many of these techniques in my developer focused demos for SharePoint 2010 (and in some cases SharePoint 2007). My plan is to use this post series to distribute my code and provide more detail on the why and the how of many of my code samples

Data Points: The Enterprise Library Data Access Application Block, Part 3

E nterprise applications can have a wide variety of data update requirements. Sometimes you need to save multiple rows of changes at once within a single transaction. Other times, the user must be allowed to enter multiple rows of data, send them to the database in a batch; and if a row or two fails, only the rows that succeeded should be committed and remain committed.

Last month I explored the foundation of the Enterprise Library Data Access Application Block (DAAB) including how it all fits into an architecture (see Data Points: The Enterprise Library Data Access Application Block, Part 1).

A solid data access later (DAL) can benefit an application by hiding redundant tasks, helping handle exceptions more gracefully, helping clean up resources more efficiently, and providing a layer of abstraction from the database.

Issue with opening SharePoint library in Windows Explorer view

I am having trouble opening a document library in Windows Explorer view. The portal is MOSS 2007. I have installed Office 2007 and IE7 on my computer. The error that I get is
