Microsoft Sharepoint Workspace has encountered problem

Posted By:      Posted Date: October 10, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
  • Installed SharePoint 2010 Workspace on two machines: one works perfectly; the other crashes
  • After the start-up splash screen and the one-inch square message "Creating an account", I am taken to the option of creating an account or restore an existing account
  • Two or three seconds later, regardless what option I pick, or choose to do nothing, the configuration wizard crashes, with "Microsoft Sharepoint Workspace has encountered problem."
  • Have uninstalled and re-installed SharePoint Workspace
  • Have uninstalled and re-installed all of Office 2010
  • Have tried installing SharePoint only as "Run on first use"
  • Have run command.com, gone to groove and run groove.exe/clean/all
  • Operating system: Windows XP SP 3, running as admin
  • All other Office 2010 features run smooth as silk

I am encountering this error during setup. The server previously had WSS 3.0 and the Group Board Workspace. I uninstalled those and installed sharepoint foundation 2010. Initially It was up and running but I was receiving errors trying to load the group space template, so I uninstalled SPF2010. cleaned up the registry pointers to the old WSS3.0 and Groupboard Workspace and tried to reinstall. Now I get the error

Microsoft SharePoint server 2010 encountered an error during setup. One or more required office components failed to complete successfully.

Looking into the issue it appears that setup cannot install the embedded sql server, since the logs indicate a dbwrap error. There are no "pendingfilerename" operations which fixed this problem for some. I tried to install as a farm but it won't allow me to use a local admin account.  I also looked at the sql configurations and the windows internal database is running.

Any ideas how to I can remove the windows internal database and reinstall SF2010?

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 has encountered a problem during setup. Setup did not complete correctl

Excuse my poor english.

Hi, recently i tried to run nLite program. Apparently it needs microsoft Framework 2.0 to run, and it just doesn't install. It says wait a minute or two while the setup intializes or something and it goes like "Setup has encountered a problem etc. etc." "Send report" "Don't Send ...". So i'm stuck because i want to use nLite to reformat my system, because i think there is a virus in it. By the way, on my PC they're not letting me go on microsoft sites, the virus i mean. I can only run the PC in safe mode without it freezing on startup at normal mode.. So i need help to install framework 2.0.

I'm using Windows XP Professional SP2 Version 2002, (i don't know if the rest is really needed, i just copied from my computer properties): Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU T2310 @ 1.46GHz, 0,99GB of RAM.

Any help? :)

Sharepoint 2007 Email problem

I've used Sharepoint 2007 to create my website. Within my web pages I've included Forms in order to capture people's contact details, so that when they 'Submit' the form their details are emailed to my email account. The problem is that when I go to Form Properties and insert the email address to which I want the data sent, I receive this message: "This form cannot be configured to send results via email. The web site may be based at a disk-based location, or a location that has not been configured to send email. Contact your system admin or ISP for more info. Would you like to remove the email recipient Yes or No"

I am satisfied that the settings within the webhosting service are correct. Is this functionality available with Sharepoint 2007 or do I need to switch to alternative software.

Problem accessing Sharepoint 2007 MySite

My users are having an issue accessing their mysites.  When they go to the main portal page or any other site and click the link at the top right of the page to go to their Mysite they are thrown into an endless authentication loop.  If they cancel out of the loop the URL in the address bar is for http://mossserver/_layouts/MySites.aspx

For a user to successfully get to their myself they need to enter the full url like http://mossserver/personal/username/default.aspx

Now, I know somewhat how this happened.  It resulted from me trying to delete a user's mysite and I apparently did it wrong but I'm not sure what I did.  It almost seems like I deleted a redirect page or something...

Looking for any ideas.

Sharepoint 2007 View Problem

I have a document library in Sharepoint 2007 in which I have seet up a number of different views so that the users who work with the information in that library can filter down to the specific area that they work with.  The view itself works great, and they are able to see their data quite easily.  The problem comes when they actually go in and edit any of the items.  Unlike most software in the civilized world for the past 30 years, the user is not returned to the view that they were working with, but to the defult view.  This means that any task where they are required to do many edits at a time becomes a frustrating nightmare and waste of time.  Is there any setting I can change, or anything else at all that I can do to give my users a little relief by making the site navigation such that they are returned after an edit to the same view that they were in before the edit?  Ideally, it would be nice if the same scroll position within the view were returned as well, but I suspect that I may be asking for too much by pushing that issue.  HELP! HELP!  Any and all constructive assistance is appreciated.
